5.0 out of 5 stars my gosh!
About a month ago I bought sammy keys and the art of deception. I read it in two hours! It was so good. It is in my top five bestbooks list and even if there are better books it will always be there. Gosh, it was sooo good I can't even begin to explain. Sammy goes to an art show with her grandmother and friend, Hudson. But at the art show some the paintings were atempted...

1.0 out of 5 stars Insulting!
I went to the library one day and picked up a Sammy Keyes book. It looked pretty cool and I had wanted to read it for a long time. So I checked it out. BIG MISTAKE!!!!

At first it semmed like she was a normal seventh grader with a few flaws. But I was wrong! Unlike Alice from the Alice series by Phillis Reynolds Naylor, Sammy does not have a perfect family and...

5.0 out of 5 stars A great mystery series gets better!, July 9, 2003

Okay, I LOVE young adult fiction and I love mysteries. So, having the two together is a dream come true. If you haven't heard of Sammy Keyes, you really need to pick up one of the books in the series and read it (preferably this title!). You'll be hooked. Sammy, a spunky 7th grader, doesn't take no for an answer and often lets her curiousness get her into trouble. Think of Nancy Drew with an attitude and high tops.

This book, the newest in the series, was full of suspense, humor, and action. This one had me guessing until almost the very end. Also, mine came with a free cd, which had a short reading from another Sammy Keyes book, read by the author. Heck, that was worth the money. Also included were a couple of Sammy Keyes songs. If you love mysteries, grab a copy of this book. You'll be hooked on the series!

5.0 out of 5 stars 13 year old Reviewer, August 7, 2003

This book Rocked! Van Draanen gets better every time she writes.
This book makes you think, laugh, angry, happy, and sad all in one blow. Its definitely a book worth reading over and over again. It shows a 7th graders life from their perspective. Sammy has a knack for getting in trouble and she also has a knack for solving mysteries like no other. The biggest difference with Sammy Keyes a Nancy Drew is that Sammy's mysteries happen to pop up, and they aren't just your normal 'something get stolen and the good guy works it out then the bad guy gets caught' mysteries, they are WAY cooler! And this book is the prime of them all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sammy on the mind, September 22, 2003
A Kid's Review
This book has got it all - mystery, action, a red-headed enemy, a super cool grandma and of course a couple of cute guys. Written from the point of veiw of one sassy seventh grader these books are really fun to read. I really liked this book because it was funny the way Sammy told it and it had just the right mix of every thing. Sammy Keyes will have you laughing out loud. Seventh grade girls will really love this book because they can see things from Sammy's point of view. They will love the crazy situations that Sammy can get herself into, and they will groan as she battles the all evil Heather Acosta.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Adventure from one page to the next., January 4, 2006
A Kid's Review
Sammy, a normal junior high student, is a magnet to disasters. Disaster seems to follow Sammy where ever she goes. For example, how can you go to a boring place like the art gallery and end up attacking someone?

Once I started reading this book it was hard to put down. One minute Sammy as tackling a robber the next minute she was trying to pick a fight with the schools most popular girls. Wendelin Van Draanen's book was good from beginning to end. I plan to also read Psycho Kitty Queen written by Wendelin Van Draanen also. Wendelin Van Draanen is such a good writer that she probably could sell her book for thirty dollars, and I would still buy it.

While I was reading this book, I felt Wendelin Van Draanen did an awesome job at describing the scene so much that it actually feels as though you are with Sammy. The way the author ends the story is in a cool twist. Through Wendelin's books she has taught me where there's a will, there's most certainly a way.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book!, May 3, 2004
A Kid's Review
This book is good because you can just sit down and read it. It is suspenseful, but also humorous as Sammy constantly gets in and out of scrapes. I loved the school play, "Laddies Gone Amok" and just how everything worked out in the end. This is a great book, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery. Great book!

4.0 out of 5 stars lots of fun!, August 8, 2008
Recently I have been rereading some of the Sammy Keyes novels that I remembered enjoying. I remembered this one being great and was not disappointed! This is a fun and intriguing mystery that will keep you guessing until the end. However, there are clues that are dropped for the reader throughout the whole book so that the conclusion really feels like a bit of detective work done by Sammy, not just a magically appearing answer. As always, Sammy's narrative kept the book funny and captivating. I couldn't put it down until I finished it! Truthfully, though maybe the writing is not the best that can be found by any standards, I can't think of a thing that I did not enjoy about this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sammy Keyes, March 23, 2007
A Kid's Review
This story begins in an art gallery where a masked thief tries to steal paintings. Sammy Keyes and her Grandmother are trying to figure out who the thief was and why the whole scene seemed fake. This is a great book if you like mysteries. But to find out you have to read the book!
