The book I read was Sammy Sosa, by Terri Dougherty. I think the book, Sammy Sosa, was a really good book because I love baseball. Sammy Sosa was born November 12, 1968 and grew up in the Dominican Republic. He was also the fifth of seven children Starting at age 7, he helped support his family. Sammy sold oranges for 10 cents and shined shoes for 25 cents.. Only Sammy knew what he was going through when he was struggling. When Sammy was 14, he tried playing organized baseball.

Sammy loved baseball, but he also loved boxing. Sammy was also a boxer. His mother didn't like seeing him get hit, but Sammy said it was nothing. So Sammy turned from the boxing ring to the baseball diamond. He also had to work at a shoe factory to help support his family. Sammy had a lot of time on his hands, but he also had time for the three most important things: his family, boxing and baseball.

Sammy ended up playing baseball with the Cubs. From there he got a lot of money that would help his family. He make 4.2 million dollars a year and that helped his family a great deal. Sammy has had a really good career. Sammy Sosa became a legendary baseball player, which means he did what he always dreamed of doing: being a legendary baseball player for the Chicago Cubs.
