One kick-ass movie???,

This review is from: Samourais (DVD)
Samourais has alot of problems. It starts off with pretty OK, the plot centers around an ancient demon using technology and magic to stay alive, but then everything goes KABLOOEY when the action moves to France.
The movie is like a poorly made Frankenstien's Monster: it got up off of the operating table but comes apart at the seams shortly afterwards. Samourais has some decent fight scenes, but is filled with bad acting and silliness which reaches a critical mass towards the end of the movie. Send this one back, it needs more seasoning.

One kick ass movie!,

This is a French-Japanese co-production with several Japanese and Hong Kong martial artists showing some real moves. This 90 min long movie features FOUR fight scenes to keep up with the overall fast pace of the story. If you have liked The Transporter and Kiss of the Dragon, this is a movie for you.

Yusaiki Kurata,

This review is from: Samourais (DVD)
That is the ONLY reason to like this film. I saw this on spike tv and watched it all the way through. God am I an idiot. The only reason I had to keep watching was for Kurata to show up and HE DOES!!!! The guy doesn't look as good as he did in say "Legeng of a Fighter", btu at age 60, I don't know too many people that are gonna be in their prime! I enjoyed this moivie for about 10 minutes and it may be more, whatever his screen time lasted.
So then the story, oh god. You got this guy who we find out he can all of a sudden fight at the end of the movie? And then some stupid video game stuff and then it manages to top itself about 80 times in stupidness again. So thank god Kurata has a daughter in this and she needs help from him:)

I saw this on cable,the prosthetic make-up was good,the plot silly,derivative and jumbled,like a modern version of a bruce lee/golden harvest movie.

If you are so masochistic as to rent/buy/fail to smash this DVD the moment you spot it, then you get what you deserve. This movie is an excellent illustration of why France and Japan are so far apart on the globe ... and why they should remain that way indefinitely, without any cultural contact. Ever.

fairly original concept,

I like the movie based on how it blends the east and the west, the new and the old.
