4.0 out of 5 stars Great Libraries, but..., January 28, 2010
This review is from: Sample Logic A.I.R. 2.0 & The Elements EXP & Synergy Virtual Instrument Library Software Triple Play Bundle (Standard)
This is an excellent company, and these are great products. But I have to mention to anyone considering them that there's another product made by Sample Logic, the same company, that's newer, and likely superior for a similar price.

First, these three huge libraries are mostly aimed at scoring. Be that films, television, commercials, or any other type of video work. They contain volumes of percussive loops, sequences, arpeggios, pads, leads, transitional sounds, etc. All of it using the Kontakt Player. If you bought this entire package it would take you days to simply go through all of the sounds.

So why not buy it? Because in late 2009 Sample Logic announced it's flagship program, Morphestra, which is roughly the same size as this package, and costs less. But Morphestra contains not only more current sounds, and more elaborate programming, it also comes on a 160gb glyph drive of it's own, which is about as plug and play as it gets.

Readers of this should also know that these libraries may be purchased separately. AIR, Elements and Synergy are all about the same size, though they concentrate on different aspects of similar sounds.

For those wishing to not spend as much still, for $49 there is an outstanding Waterphone library available from Sample Logic that is worth every penny, and in almost everyone's budget. This isn't a simple waterphone sampled a few times, but a huge amount of percussive, pad, lead and mangled samples.

Finally, if you aren't sure, or don't even want to spend the $49 for the waterphone, Sample Logic offers a free Trial Pack on their website giving away about 25 total patches from AIR, Synergy and Elements for no cost at all.
