I passed the PE (the first time around) recently. These sample questions are very helpful and help determine whether you are ready for the PE exam. To help others in their preparation, I generated a sample exam for the morning session (klkaiser). This sample exam, and the complete solutions, are free and provided as pdf's.

It is a pretty good book to have as review as potential sample problems for the exam. I never really read the explanations following the questions as I deciphered that myself. There are actually easier ways to solve some of the problems in my opinion. I never used the CD as it contained the same problems as the book instead of new problems. But overall, I would recommend this book as a good basis for sample questions for the PE exam. Beware, focus on antenna problems on the PE exam though. They stumped me, but I did well enough!

This book was excellent. Some of the questions were almost verbatim on the test. And if it wasnt in this text, then there was something like it for you to work backwards off of. It was a good tool. As always, it need more examples but you can never do enough examples. Excellent!

This was a great sample problem set and the question format was just like the real exam. This was an important part of my references for preparation. I passed in April 07. Note that I found the CD worthless and it had the same questions in the book.

This is the best review book for the electrical PE exam no question. It gives you a true feel of the test and hits enough different topics to be worth the buy.

Written by the people that make the test, it's the closest thing you'll find to the actual PE exam available. This book shows the format, style and difficultly level of questions of the actual exam very accurately. You get 16hrs of practice material in this book. A morning section (4 full hrs of questions) and then an afternoon test in each depth area (4hrs each) The answers also come with some explanations behind them so you aren't left dumbfounded as you are with some answer keys. This book is a must have item if you are studying for the PE exam and worth carrying into the exam as a reference.

That said, and the reason for only 4stars, the CD is worthless. It's a softcopy of the book so you get the exact same material twice. It's also not a good study tool since the exam is pencil and paper working question on the computer is more of a distraction than anything.
