5.0 out of 5 stars Short and Sweet, Exactly What I needed
The book was everything I hoped for. Using Facebook is the only way to really understand it, but this book made the process much easier than I feared. A great reference for those new to Facebook.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very poor presentation of critical screen shots
The author covers the basic aspects of Facebook. The problem is that the screen shots are very poorly done. Either the screen is way too small so that one can't really read the screen content or the screen contains pictures of people and is purposely blurred.

The whole point of screen shots is to be able to follow what is shown on your own computer to make...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Facebook, October 10, 2010

This is easily the best book available on Facebook for a general audience. It is absolutely clear (with images of the Facebook screen for each action)and broad enough that it can be used for businesses as well as individuals. I cannot recommend it highly enough! An Amazon Verified Product.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Where is Waldo?" or "Here's Looking at You Kid." on Facebook, June 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Where I come from, "writing" on someone's "wall" was punishable with a bucket of white wash, then a trip to my bedroom without dinner. "10 Minutes" did indeed get me up and running on Facebook in short order, painlessly, and without offending the memory of my late parents.

There is a caveat though. If you are an avid Kindle user like me, you will be better served to use Kindle for PC. The examples of screen shots are much better read. In fact, the book states it is really best seen on a computer screen. That's best anyway. You will want to have an open browser window to Facebook so you can go along with the cookbook-style instructions.

Go ahead. Peek through what might have seemed a curtain of confusing google-babble. This book helps you take baby steps or giant strides onto the world stage you are already performing on.

And "Here's Looking at You, Kid," on Facebook

4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful, but......................., January 12, 2011

Have been a casual off and on user of Facebook for several years, flying by the seat of my pants and never really studying the site. Was critical of its function because I dislike the entries that report on what people are doing from minute to minute. BORING. WHO CARES.

However, as an "elder", I challenge myself to keep up with what seem to be societal trends. I planned to get to know Facebook better before I eliminated it as an activity. I researched books that were reported helpful and downloaded this book to my Kindle. I followed the sugestion to view the book on my PC rather than Kindle in order to be able to better integrate the pictures/figures.

The book is helpful and I am learning new things. I don't find Facebook user friendly. Tabs seem redundant in some aspects and in other ways it is difficult to understand what the tabs open and how they integrate with each other. I just finished Chapter 3 and am navigating the site more fluently.

My main criticism of the Kindle version as viewed on the PC (versus buying the book) is that it seems impossible to enlarge the figures which illustrate the point the author is making. I've looked for a zoom feature and can't find one using the Kindle app for PC. Enlarging the fonts helps a little if I then move the laptop screen almost on top of my face. The paperback version isn't much more money than the Kindle version, so if you don't mind adding paper to your bookshelf you may wnat to order it. Another criticism, as pointed out by others, Facebook changes its pages frequently so that the way the pages are described in the book no longer exists. However, I agree it is fairly easy to find the alternative way in which the pages are currently organized.

So, I think I am now finding value for myself in using Facebook and will continue the activity on a regular basis. I will use it to exchange ideas and musings and to look for such entries from my "friends". I will not be interested in nor report on personal activities unless it is to select family and very close friends. I find Facebook useful in a way that email is not: by grouping friends I can stay connected to many people at one time depending on how I want to select them by the group to which I have assigned them. I hope to be able to cut back on personal emails in this way.

As I continue with the book I may add to this review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little reference guide for FB, March 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
FaceBook can be learned by using it alone, but then I found that i did not know why i was doing certain and nothing others to maximize my usage, and really enjoy the service. Teach Yourself FaceBook in 10 Minutes is a great way to learn all the basic features for a newbie, and for an intermediate user to learn to use advanced features. i really liked it, and can carry it around anywhere since it is a small guide, instead of a large reference.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very poor presentation of critical screen shots, June 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The author covers the basic aspects of Facebook. The problem is that the screen shots are very poorly done. Either the screen is way too small so that one can't really read the screen content or the screen contains pictures of people and is purposely blurred.

The whole point of screen shots is to be able to follow what is shown on your own computer to make sure you are doing some action correctly. The way screen shots are presented in this book they are close to useless.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok for personal use / Lacks specifics for business, July 12, 2011
This is an OK guide if you only intend to use Facebook for personal use (ie., communicating with friends and family). There is one section that deals with marketing a business on Facebook, but it is not specific enough to be very useful for business owners. I found goldalliancegrp.com/facebook-for-business.php to be a more useful reference on using Facebook for business.

Facebook is changing so fast that many of the instructions in this book were non-functional when I tried to use them.
