This is the only Intro book available to SAP R/3,
By Shankar G.B. (CHENNAI, Tamil Nadu India) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sams Teach Yourself SAP R/3 in 24 Hours (Sams Teach Yourself...in 24 Hours) (Paperback)
This is the only intro book available on SAP R/3. The book is on the way of getting outdated. The screen shots in the book and Real life screen shots (SAP 4.6 C or D) differ a lot. From this book, one does not learn much except navigation of SAP's various modules. It also gives some basic ideas abt using SAP system. This book is aimed at the end user and not for wannabe SAP Consultant.

A piece of the puzzle.....,
By MDson (Fort Worth, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sams Teach Yourself SAP R/3 in 24 Hours (Sams Teach Yourself...in 24 Hours) (Paperback)
While I appreciate what Larocca was trying to accomplish, the book has a number of shortcomings. It's dated, and therefore focused on what's becoming only a small piece of the SAP software story. And it's audience seems to vary from chapter to chapter. Of the 10+ books I have dealing with SAP, I put this one in the middle of the pack - I was compelled to finally pick up a copy (used, please!) given that it continues to top the best sellers. But I must say that if you really want to learn SAP from a technical, implementation, or administration perspective, you need to keep looking. I'll rarely flip through the pages of Teach Yourself again, but know from the dog-eared pages in my books by Jacobs/Whybark and G Anderson that really good books - ones that probably have a better claim to teaching you anything in 24 hours - exist.

Great Book for people interested in getting involved in SAP.,

I heard that SAP is a skill in large demand in the business and technology job market and I wanted to learn more about it. This book covered so much of what I needed to know and had so many pictures that take you through the system. Unlike 2 other books I bought - it is not just a high level overview - it actually takes you in to the system and walks you through each of the different parts explaining as it goes. It also has quizzes at the end of each chapter to test what you've learned. It is a good book.

Good Introuduction to SAP,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sams Teach Yourself SAP R/3 in 24 Hours (Sams Teach Yourself...in 24 Hours) (Paperback)
My company has just emabrked on a large scale SAP implementation for our global systems. When I was selected to be part of the team I was nervous b/c I never worked on SAP before. After reading this book I was way ahead of my colleagues when we got SAP installed and I got to teach them how to get around and it helped me to see the big picture of SAP. It allows you to get all the basics under your belt of SAP. Now I need to find a good book on specific SAP modules (MM, FI/CO). Was definatley worth the 20 bucks and it helped get my feet wet in SAP would recommend for any new user.

This is a good book for a very basic overview of SAP. If you want more detail, get something else.

We use it as a Training Manual for SAP users,

This review is from: Sams Teach Yourself SAP R/3 in 24 Hours (Sams Teach Yourself...in 24 Hours) (Paperback)
I have heard so many things about SAP and I wanted to be a part of it. My company got us all this book and it seems to cover all the different areas of SAP. My company is now using the book as a training manual for all employees who are going to be involved in our SAP SD, BW FI and HR Implementation. In training class we do a chapter a session (and it has a test at the end of each chapter). I found it very helpful and would reccommend it to anyone getting started in SAP. Also it contains some more advanced stuff that our technical team uses.

Neither here nor there,
This review is from: Sams Teach Yourself SAP R/3 in 24 Hours (Sams Teach Yourself...in 24 Hours) (Paperback)
This is a basic book on SAP. Part of the book seems to have been written for an audience with technical aspirations while the rest of the book seems to have been written for a person trying to get SAP overview. The book overly repeats many concepts; could have been written in half the pages.
It is a quick read and will provide basic overview of SAP. Not bad, but not terribly good either.

Good book, but not for everyone,
By "anwan" (Warszawa Poland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sams Teach Yourself SAP R/3 in 24 Hours (Sams Teach Yourself...in 24 Hours) (Paperback)
First of all nobody can learn SAP in 24 hours and this book will not do it. This book definitely give you very general and very basic overview of SAP functionality. In my opinion this book is for people like system annalists, technical annalists, IT specialists etc. with no SAP knowledge who would like to start working with SAP. It is however not for ordinary SAP user - subjects (hours) are mostly technical and language is also technical.

Good, but not expected,
This review is from: Sams Teach Yourself SAP R/3 in 24 Hours (Sams Teach Yourself...in 24 Hours) (Paperback)
SAP R/3 in 24 Hours was a good intro book for familiarizing oneself with the general working of the vast program. My only gripe was with the level of detail being less than I expected in the modules. "How do I enter a sales order, journal entry, standard costs...?" These questions were not the kind that were answered easily in this basic text.
So, in summary, it will help you with general tasks like logging in, changing your password, the architecture behind the program (broadly), and navigation. It is not the book to tell you how to do your job inside a company using SAP.

Excellent Introduction to SAP R/3,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sams Teach Yourself SAP R/3 in 24 Hours (Sams Teach Yourself...in 24 Hours) (Paperback)
This well-organized, comprehensive book contains lots of helpful information to get you started with SAP. After completing the 24 1-hour sessions, I feel I have built a solid foundation in SAP. I would highly recommend this book as an excellent way for SAP R/3 users to gain an understanding of all SAP has to offer. In addition, it will teach you how to effectively use the system. I found the chapters on reporting to be very helpful. I am now able to write my own reports by following the step by step directions given in this book. In just 24 hours, you too can become a more productive and confident user of SAP.
