Product Description

If you're looking for a matched pair of condensers that are both affordable and versatile, look no further than the Samson CL2 Stereo pair. Featuring gold sputtered diaphragms to offer incredibly high definition and detail without shrill high end. Very life-like and warm, the CL2s are ideal for recording or miking orchestral instruments, acoustic guitar, piano, choirs, overhead miking of drums and cymbals and of course, vocals. A remarkable addition to any mic locker, large or small. Providing maximum flexibility for a variety of applications was one of the main design goals. Each CL2 comes with a pair of elements that can easily be detatched to change the pickup pattern to either omni-directional or cardioid. The elements feature three micron, gold-sputtered diaphragms and are designed to handle SPLs of 141 dB (cardioid) and 138 dB (omni).

2 of 3 people found the following review helpful By Grateful Fred on February 25, 2012
I purchased these mics mainly for field recording live bands, but also for acoustic home studio type recording. On both fronts, these mics have delivered. I'll leave a couple of video links from The Tube at the end as examples. Anyhoot...in the field, I run the mics to a Zoom R24 Multitrack which can run on battery power. So I need nothing from the house, or soundboard, to record. The results have been impressive. I'm able to capture the essence of live in fairly high quality with just enough ambient/crowd noise to enhance the recording instead of being an annoyance.

Another thing that has worked out really well is stereo micing acoustic amps for the singer/songwriter type. The sound is very rich & warm. See the links below for examples of recordings with the CL2 mics.

This first vid is captured at Capital Ale in Richmond, VA of a blues rock band called Pig Foot Riot doing Wang Dang Doodle.

The second link is a solo acoustic version of Masquerade done in a more private setting. The musician was playing through a Kustom Sienna 65 Acoustic amp, and the mics were about 3 feet in front. This is clearly seen in the vid.
