Perfect solution for business meetings, conferences or presentations
Mobile Music

The dynamic range of musical settings that can benefit from the XP150 is unparalleled. Whether you're a singer-songwriter gigging in a coffee shop, a full band practicing in an intimate rehearsal space or a DJ entertaining people at a small club or bar, the XP150 ensures your sound is well suited for your space. In addition, the system's speakers lend themselves perfectly to a variety of musical performances when being used as floor monitors.

Get the Job Done

With the XP150, your voice will command a boardroom podium with as much authority as a stage. The XP150 provides the perfect solution for a business professional leading any sort of presentation. No matter the application (PowerPoint presentations, company meetings, corporate events, etc.), the XP150 allows you to convey your ideas in a clear, concise manor and perform your job better. Its 3.5mm stereo input also enables your MP3 player to playback audio clips and promote a more interactive listening experience for any audience.

Educate with Expedition

In addition to all students, teachers and professors using the XP150 in some of the same circumstances as business professionals (presentations, audio playback), the system possesses some functions unique to music education. It is ideal for directing small to medium instrumental ensembles and will help conductors keep even their percussionists on task. Thanks to the mixer's 1/4-inch and 3.5mm stereo input, soloists and small ensembles can practice along with keyboards, drum machines or MP3/CD players. And by playing back these external devices, the XP150 makes the analysis of recorded music easier and a more interactive experience.

Outside Entertainment

The mobility of the XP150 makes it ideal for countless recreational uses. For a traveling instructor, the XP150 is perfect for leading exercise/yoga classes in fitness clubs. Outdoor functions pose no problem for the XP150. Block parties, sporting events and matters of crowd control now have a more practical, and still extremely portable, alternative to the megaphone. The XP150 will excite the tailgating crowd, enabling them to demonstrate their team spirit on a whole new level or simply provide musical entertainment for a classic tailgate party.

Samson's Expedition XP150 is ideal wherever a smaller PA system and great sound are required.

This is a portable PA system for small quiet spaces (cafes, small churches or other small auditoriums). It consists of 2 speakers and a 5 channel mixer. The mixer stores inside the back of one speaker, while the other speaker provides storage space for cables and maybe a small mic. The 2 speakers lock together face-to-face for transport. To haul the system around, simply grab one of the handles on one of the speakers and lift (22 lbs). Packed up, the system measures approximately 14" x 16" x 9". Included with the system are 2 20' speaker cables (20 gauge, zip cord), a 6' power cord, and a multi-language owner's manual (32 pages in English).

The 5 channel mixer allows for a maximum of 4 simultaneous inputs. Channels 1-3 each accept either XLR or 1/4” TRS instrument cables. Channel 4/5 accepts either right/left 1/4” TRS or a single 3.5mm RCA line input. Each of the 4 input channels has EQ controls for highs and lows (but not mids) and volume controls. Reverb can be added via push buttons to channels 1-3, but not 4/5. The mixer panel includes a single volume control for reverb, and an EQ button for speech/music (the speech setting increases mids). Volume controls are also included for master volume. Phantom power is made available to mics plugged into channels 1-3. Output is through 2 1/4" TRS jacks for the speakers; there is no provision for monitors or direct connection to a recording device. Power input is 100-240V with an automatic switch, so with the right power cables, you could take this system overseas. The speakers have 1/4" TRS jacks for speaker cables. They also have standard 1 3/8" inch speaker stand plugs (but no screws for secure installations) for attachment to speaker stands or they can be set upright on the floor.

I got this Samson XP150 for my home base dancing studio in my lower level. I liked it because it seem small and easy to transport and set up. Its very well made, I like the clever design to packs the 2 speakers into one.
The 150 amp packs more hump than the speakers can handle. For a small gathering of 15-20 people it works fine. It does fine for vocals but if you need music with a little punch of bass then it peaks very quickly.

it has a good sound for its size but the fx onboard is not so good. it is a plated fx. could have been at least a hall reverb. well it is worth the money for my purpose coz i just added a cheap fx processor where i patch my mic directly.

I purchased this specifically for smaller venues where my other PAs were overkill. I am not going to regurgitate the specs that are on this page, but do want to point out that despite what the product description claims (at the time of this review), this system DOES NOT provide phantom power. If you are using condenser mics you will need a phantom power source or a mic pre amp that provides it.

For reference I play in a jazz duo and trio, and often with acoustic instruments. So take that into account when I say that this will work for venues of up to fifty people. As such this system is more than sufficient for solo and duo acts. You may be able to use it in larger venues for concerts as opposed to providing background and ambiance music. I have played in small venues where the audience was there for happy hour and chatting among themselves and this system would not work. I have also used it in much larger venues where the audience was there for a concert and this system easily provided the sound level needed to be heard.

One of the main reasons why I awarded this five stars is sound quality. Although the speakers are small they are rich sounding and can crank out some surprising low end when we run a piano through it. I also love the ability to tailor reverb to three of the channels independent of one another. In fact, you can turn reverb off on one or two channels while using it on a third, or any combination thereof. You can also set different reverb levels for each of the three channels that will accept reverb, which is a wonderful way to dial in various vocalists.

Ok, you're not going to play a stadium with this PA, but for your practice space it will do very nicely. My band was making do plugging mics into some old guitar amps. The sound is far better with this PA, and the design is very clever. It all packs together in a nice package, easy to break out into its parts for use, and the speakers can sit on the floor at the classic floor monitor angle, or be mounted on posts if you buy some. All in all a great starter PA for practice and small spaces.

The Samson Expedition XP150 is a solid combination of portability and sound performance. The speakers are loud enough to fill a large room for presentation, music, or even movies. While they may be a bit small for DJing big events, I really like the combination of sound performance and portability.

Notes

- You will likely want to investing in a pair of speaker stands. I was able to find a nice set on Amazon for a very reasonable price

- The speakers are completely self contained. The two speakers interconnect and form a solid one piece unit. The sound board fits into the back of one unit while the other speakers hold all of the wiring. It really is a pretty cool design.

- Sound performance - The speakers are pretty loud. They are certainly loud enough for a conference room or a coffee shop. We have used them in our backyard for playing music and karaoke.

- Overall sound - not bad, not bad at all. The speakers have ok bass response and perform throughout the entire frequency range, but it is not exactly overly smooth. At times it does come up a bit short in bass while sounding a bit heavy in the midrange.

- The mix board is a very cool feature. You can connect it to multiple sources - including a microphone, guitar, and even an MP3 player. Of course you have the ability to fade in each of the inputs.

- I know this may sound a bit odd, but I really do wish that it had integrated bluetooth capability.

- Does need an AC power source - does NOT have an integrated battery pack.

Final Verdict - The Samson Expedition 150 Portable Speaker is an ideal combination of performance and portability. We use them on stands in our backyard for movie nights, music for the swing set, and karaoke - we love them!
