This is a great product. I create online training videos and this is ideal. The audio is crystal clear and is easy to use. This is not a light-weight cheapy throw away item if it doesn't work. I am very impressed with the quality.

Caution - Your PC is fully capable of using this as a plug-n-play device. Don't waste your time on the SoftPre software described in the literature as you don't need it. I contacted the manufacturer and they confirmed by suspecion that it doesn't work and isn't required.

They do include some great recording software that is not SoftPre, so don't get those confused!

This mic works well. Nice clear recording for voice over work. My only complaint is that I haven't been able to get the Sonar LE to work. It doesn't appear to be compatible with my sound card. The mic works well with Audacity however.

I couldn't be happier with this setup. I purchased it with a PS01 pop screen (Samson) and it's become my staple for WBT voice-over via Sony Audio Studio. The microphone offers an affordable, authentic representation of the voice.

An outstanding value at this price!

I am very happy with my new Samson microphone and it actually serves two purposes in our household. My wife uses it to record music and I use it for Web-based rapid eLearning. It's great to have such a versatile microphone that delivers such clean sound. Right out of the box, we were able to connect through our USB port and work with any audio software. The fit and finish makes this package a bargain, plus you have a couple of different choices for how you want to place your microphone onto it's included stand. I have not loaded the software that comes with it yet, because I have my own and it is not necessary to make this microphone function. Great job Samson!!!

The Samson CO1U Recording/Podcasting Pak is perfect for me. I am trying to get into the voice over business and this equipment is the perfect place to start. Combined with the Sonar editing program and PS01 Popfilter (sold seperately) I believe it will be an invaluable asset to anyone wishing to record themselves for demos, projects, or just podcasting.

1. I found that I needed to remove the center insert from the stand's tube with a small coin to unscrew the little inset. Had to call international long distance to get support on it.
2. I found that even if you plug it in, the Macintosh doesn't automatically switch over to it, and I had to choose it in Preferences on the Mac.
3. The included software for the Mac was kind of inadequate.

Other than that, this product deserves its good rating! For me, RTFM the next time...

I recommend the whole kit, with C01U USB studio condenser microphone, desktop stand and carrying case.
Fidelity is top notch, although I am still working on ideal volume settings and microphone placement since the recording levels are on the soft side at present. But I have been able to adjust with no distortion for my recording projects.
Can't wait to take it "on the road."

The microphone works great! It got a little banged up in shipping, however... it seems that the mic stand base shifted out of it's place in the case (see picture)... it must of bounced around and hit the mic and dented it a little bit, but doesn't affect the performance of the mic. It's a solid, pro-quality microphone and very easy to hookup via the usb connection to your PC. I'm not fond of the recording software it comes with... there are better ones out there.

Just confirmed what most other reviews agree on: this is a high quality product for its price, while it's only con is the software it comes with, which is not only bad, but also a trial version.

The voice over we recorded as a test came out clean and detailed, although I'm sure we still have to fine tune placement and levels to get the best out of it.

I didnt buy this one, i bought the bundle with the stand and everything, but this is a great starting microphone. My Step Son uses it to record his vocals all the time, and didnt have a problem at all. Great Microphone!
