Wireless stage microphone sets fall into roughly three price ranges. The top ones, selling for several thousands of dollars, are fine if your name is Mick and you're got ten vans full of gear traveling with you. In the middle- say, $350-500- are well made sets from companies like Audio Technica, Shure, and a few others that offer standard PA microphones like the SM58 coupled to solid wireless systems. And at the bottom- call it the $20-120 range- are a wide variety of mostly Chinese made sets that are all over the place in quality and functionality. This set is sort of at the top of the bottom, if you like. It's from a company that has a reputation for making good microphones at reasonable prices- I have a pair of Samson C02s, a U37, and aGo Mic, all of which are reliable and produce very good sound for the money.

The first impression you get unpacking this set is that it's pretty lightweight. The microphones and the receiver have all plastic cases, and pretty thin plastic at that. Inserting a 9 volt battery in the microphones I was concerned that I might crack the thin, brittle (Styrene?) case. These are not mics you can bounce off the floor like a '58. (Not that I recommend doing that!) The receiver is light enough that if I was using it on stage, I'd want to tape it down with a hunk of gaffer's tape.

I plugged the receiver into my small PA, and the basement, and took the two mics around the house. Range was excellent; I wandered throughout the house with not gaps in coverage. With the PA down in the basement, I could still hear it while wandering around the second floor on the opposite side of the house. I don't think you'd have any problem at all on the average stage, or anywhere in a small auditorium.

Fidelity, though, was not great.

First off, thank you again Amazon for such amazing speed on delivery. Was supposed to get my package by Saturday, but got the email as always, that I was receiving my package a day before. One day shipping!!!

Firstly, the packaging of the product is outstanding as is ALL Samson products. I can't believe I got it for the price I did. Best Buy had it on clearance for double what I paid for on Amazon... so great buy!!

Secondly, I unboxed it, all the components and items were included, well sealed in plastic wraps. The two mics feel very durable and have some weight to them. Not like some systems, where the mic is very light, doesn't have any "meat" or odd shaped. These mic's look normal with a steel wired and not plastic headcover.

Setting up the system took less than 5 minutes and I was already "TESTING 123, TESTING 123...". The clarity of voice is perfect and absolutley NO feedback, static, reverb, nothing... I even have the receiver tucked in one of the shelves on my High Boy Media Stand with antennas down, and it still works perfectly...

I got this system, because I've used Samson products before and they have never failed me. Well another product that has NOT failed me. Yes, I was looking at getting a SHURE wireless system, but couldn't justify shelling out ALOT of money for their system. I have the Samson system setup for "karaoke" at home. One thing to note though is the volume on the wireless receiver needs to be turned up to the max as well as MAX on my AMP.

Bottom line.. I've only had this wireless system for 1 day and its been great! Don't hesitate to buy... huge savings only here on Amazon.

The product synced just find to my sound system and when it works, the sound is fine. The problem is that if you turn away from the receiver at all, the sound cuts out. So, if the receiver is on the right side of the stage, you can't address people on the left or you'll lose sound.

The Samson SWV266SHT6U-321 Handheld Wireless Microphone is probably the easiest wireless microphone system to set up. You just turn it on and it starts to sync and to work right away (Battery was included). Other than the volume knob, you do not need to adjust anything. It had a dual 1/4-inch outputs for both microphones and no XLR connections. The microphones are very light, even with 9V batteries. There are two power switches in each microphone and it made me confused in the first place. The one switch was in the battery compartment and was a main power switch. You would not see this switch once you close the battery compartment. There was another one on the microphone looked like the one you can see from other microphones. This second switch does not cut the power, but worked like a mute switch. Even if you switched it off, you still see the green LED light on and no voice was transmitted. I would rather have one switch than two switches that made me confused.

The quality of the sound was OK. I did not find any noticeable noise, though. I use a Shure PG58 microphone for a home recording setup, but the quality of the sound was not comparable (PG58 was way better). However, in terms of the convenience, the SWV266SHT6U-321 beats the PG58. I connected the SWV266SHT6U-321 to my Yamaha MOX8 synthesizer and was very happy to use it as a microphone for a vocoder (FYI, you might remember that some commercial songs have robot-like-human-voice included and that voice was made by something called a vocoder). The Yamaha MOX8 synthesizer has a 1/4-inch microphone input and the SWV266SHT6U-321 connected without any problem. By using the basic microphone pre-amp and effectors built inside of the MOX8, I had some fun time with the SWV266SHT6U-321.
