I owned the previous version for about 6 years and was impressed by the quality. The original never split a seam, but the wheels broke off after a fall. The new version is vinyl instead of cloth and has one less pocket. I was unable to determine that based on the pictures.

The old version had a rear pocket with three file separators; a middle pocket to put in the laptop; a forward pocket for extra items; a front pocket to place items like pens, etc and then a very thin pocket on the very front.

The new version has a rear pocket without any file separators (much like the old pocket in front of the laptop area); a middle pocket for the lap top with a single file holding area; a front pocket for pens, etc; and then the very thin pocket on the very front.

Thus, they made this unit smaller by one pocket, and sitting the two units side by side it is quite evident now.

I will keep the purchase, but was disappointed by the decrease in size, and loss of a pocket. I may also try to fix the old units wheels knowing that I can not really replace it from American Tourister. I hope the quality remains the same. I tried some other units from retail stores and had issues opening the handle. This unit worked very smartly and the wheels seem well made.
