I needed a new large, roll on suitcase and decided to try a hard sided one. I'm so glad that I did.

I just got back from a 7 day business trip from Boston, MA to London, England and this bag fit much more than I had expected based on initial visual assessments. I loved having 2 separate sides to the suitcase rather than one large compartment, and as some soft sided luggage has. Particularly useful when returning home and you want to separate shoes and dirty laundry from other items. I was able to pack the following and the suitcase wasn't at the top of its capacity:
1 pair tall, leather boots
1 pair high heeled ankle boots
1 pair ballet flats
1 pair high heeled pumps
1 pair slippers
2 dresses
2 blazers
2 cardigans
1 sweater
1 skirt
1 pair of dress pants
1 blouse
3 pairs of yoga pants
3 cotton long sleeved ts
2 pairs pjs
X-large toiletry kit

Black color that I ordered is high gloss which helps mask any scratches. Outside wipes down easily. For a 28" suitcase it feels exceptionally lightweight compared with nylon, soft sided luggage z this is great for me as a woman when I need to lift the bag for storage or to get the bag on/off a conveyor belt. Wheels glide really easily. You can roll the bag traditionally where you tilt it towards you and pull on 2 wheels or you can keep it flat and wheel beside you on all 4 wheels. I preferred the latter. Telescoping handle is strong enough to support my laptop bag for my large, but 17.3" laptop. I also looped on a soft duffel bag and there was no interruption in gliding the wheels. Great that I could pile all my luggage and so easily push it all around.

Bag did get a few scratches after 2 transatlantic flights. However, no dents and no structural damage to the case, the zippers, or wheels. Love that the TSA approved lock is built into the side of the bag; no more mini locks or keys. Bag has a top handle and side handle that make it easy to get in and out of your car.

This has been a great bag so far. I think it could easily hold contents for 1 person for up to 14 days. Would accommodate 2 people for up to 5 day trip.

My wife and I travelled to the USA to stay with family and ordered 2 of these cases for our return journey to the UK. The cases are a quality product and look fantastic in the Blue Slate colour. These cases are lightweight and highly manoeverable thanks to the 360 degree turning wheels. Excellent quality at a very reasonable price for Samsonite.

Following our return flight these cases arrived in good shape - sure they will get scuffed etc by baggage handlers but they maintain integrity and are a delight to travel with (especially if like me your cases are fully loaded!). Ideally I would have bought the super lightweight Comsolite cases from Samsonite but they are 3 times the price for minimal difference. TSA locks are easy to use too. These cases are made of polycarbonate which to the uneducated can appear flimsy - rest assured they are tough and hopefully will last for many years to come.

I bought 2 of these suitcases for a family trip, and am pleased overall. I was a bit skeptical at first, thinking the hardshell material was too light. But, the suitcases held up to baggage handler abuse quite well. My girlfriend and I were able to pack everything we needed for a 5 day trip, with room to spare. The multi-directional wheels are great. I can tow it behind me, or leave it upright and push the suitcase with one hand.
There are cheaper options for hardshell luggage. But, if you want Samsonite quality you have to pay for it.

I purchased two of these suitcases for a vacation trip. The TSA-approved locks are pathetic, imprecise and something of a liability. Upon arrival at the airport on our trip, I opened the lock to retrieve something and re-locked the case. When we got to our final destination the combination no longer worked. Worse, when I was left with little choice but to cut off the lock, I decided to use a can opener to try to move the lock. It took 5 seconds to open the lock and I can't use the lock ever again because the combination is lost.

On our return, my wife picked up her suitcase and a large chunk of plastic fell off the case. The price for these was pretty low but I would have hoped that they would have lasted more than one trip.

I'm reviewing the warranty as I write and hoping to return them. I would have given this zero stars but one can't. )-:

Update - October 2, 2013 - So, I'm past the 30-day return on Amazon and Samsonite doesn't seem to stand behind its products. Hate to just write off $300 but I guess Samsonite is added to the list of vendors I will never do business with again.

I love these suitcases! They are SUPER lightweight, very generous in size, durable, and they roll, or shall I say GLIDE, with little effort!! We've taken the smaller pieces on numerous weekend getaways and all of the pieces from MA to FL two times via plane in the 4 months that we've had them.

We have the silver cases and, like others have said, they do show scuffs and wear a lot, but I think all of the pro's of the cases outweigh this one con. The only kind of suitcase that won't show all of the scuffs and damage of air travel are the ones with cloth on the outside and those tend to be heavier and not as sturdy when it comes to protecting your belongings. I like knowing my things are surrounded by something hard. I also like knowing I am not paying extra or having to leave things out because I have heavy suitcases.

If you don't mind the scuffing and signs of damage, then these are the cases for you. If you expect your suitcase to look new for a long time and you don't fly very much, do not buy these, at least not in silver, as you will be disappointed. Overall, I LOVE them!

Great for traveling overseas. Pretty light for it's size. I've used Mr.Clean magic eraser to remove scratches and it works great.

So far so good. Only used it on one trip but is seemed to hold up. With it being flexible I did notice a pushed in area on my return home but I just opened it and pushed from the inside to rectify it.

After a few more trips the bag seems to be holding up. It does have some scuff marks but what else would you expect on a hard (flexible) suitcase. On my last trip I did notice a pushed in area again. Just opened the bag and pressed on it from the inside and it popped right back.

Love, Love, Love this luggage! Arrived on time, right before leaving for Florida, and functioned even better than I expected. Glides beautifully in every direction and is very light for a suitcase. While the outside of the case does feel like it won't hold up, it definitely does! Beautiful product!

Anyone that has given this suitcase a bad review just doesn't know luggage... If you go to the Samsonite store this suitcase will cost you much more than double... Even other retailers are about double in price. Now, the construction using Polycarbonate makes these very lightweight. Anyone that thinks it feels cheap just doesn't understand the idea behind this technology... I especially like the individual that gave it low marks for not coming with a key... Really? A Key!? What in the world! I really wish people would take the time to give honest opinions about the products and not just give a low rating because you don't understand what you have purchased. This is a great suitcase. It will serve it's function properly. It is made by Samsonite! The wheels are good the handle is a square tube type which makes it much more stable and less wobbly when maneuvering... Overall, very pleased!

Here are my (bad) experiences with the Samsung Winfield>
1st trip: one of the supports broke off and opened a whole in the shell. BTW: I noticed, most lugagge has 4-6 supports. This one has only 3!
2nd Trip (Yesterday) from Brazil to Phoenix: both handles broke off. The most hilarious is, this happened with a nearly empty luggage, less the 8kg!!!!

Pro: lots of space, nice rollers.
Con: Very weak construction, poor materiels
