5.0 out of 5 stars TRAVEL GARMENT STEAMER
Have you ever taken a garmet out of suitcase with wrinkles everywhere? Well, this thing sets up in 2 mins and releses a gentle steam that will repair the look of your jacket. Just that, no more, no less.
Dual voltage a real plus, you will need a plug adaptor, though.

I just landed in Brussels this am and got it out of the trolley and brought my jacket back...

I'm not one to bash products without proper cause, but I haven't been this disappointed in quite some time. After reading some positive reviews, I decided to purchase the Samsonite Travel Garment Steamer to replace an old "generic" one I bought on eBay 5 years ago.

Dual voltage a real plus, you will need a plug adaptor, though.

I just landed in Brussels this am and got it out of the trolley and brought my jacket back on track in 5 mins, then off to meetings.

Only one negative aspect: it does not empty properly, so you will have to carry in a plastic bag, there is no way to empty it fully, so some little is likely to leak out. Small price to pay to travel free of wrinkles.

I purchased this item for a cruise (where irons are not permitted). It worked extremely well and did better than a steam iron. Price was also reasonable.

I would highly recommend it. Compact size is also a plus.

1.0 out of 5 stars Completely worthless, August 5, 2011

I'm not one to bash products without proper cause, but I haven't been this disappointed in quite some time. After reading some positive reviews, I decided to purchase the Samsonite Travel Garment Steamer to replace an old "generic" one I bought on eBay 5 years ago.

To give some perspective, I'll describe the one I previously had. I purchased a garment travel steamer off eBay for less than $20 5 years ago. When plugged in, this steamer provided a continuous stream of steam that would blast the garment with hot moisture and work out wrinkles in 2 to 3 swipes. I used to use it on my suits and wool pants or even cotton shirts when I was too lazy to iron. This was especially quick and helpful on business trips where I didn't want iron or was in a rush to work out wrinkles. After years of use, the internal water container in the steamer did finally give out and the internals of the steamer began to rust.

I received the Samonsite Steamer expecting similar results. This item was more than double what I paid for the generic steamer that I previously owned. After numerous attempts of using the device filling the device with water and allowing it to heat, I soon discovered that the steam was at best a trickle and did not work well at removing wrinkles. I could even hold it up to my hand for quite some time before feeling a substantial amount of heat. Needless to say, my attempts to try and remove wrinkles from a few suits or wool slacks were failures. I'm somewhat disappointed that Samsonite would put their brand on a device that barely operates as it's intended. Maybe I received a defected one, but I don't plan to press my luck and purchase another one.

I plan to return this steamer and continue searching for a suitable replacement. Be warned if you decide to purchase this steamer.

Great space saver for travel. Filling the water is not so easy and finding the angle to put back the top is not so easy. But it does the job!

It did just what it was purchased for! Small enough and powerful enough to get the wrinkles out! I recommend this item for travellers.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not my best choice, August 29, 2010

I ordered this steamer when traveling to my daughters wedding. We were going to use it on the bridesmaids dresses. Guess again! It does not emit enough steam to remove any wrinkles. We ended up ironing the dresses the night before the wedding. Upon arriving home I thought to try it on a couple blouses, light weight fabric. There were no wrinkles removed. It is passed the allowed return time frame....in the trash it goes. A total waste of $35. Don't waste your money on this steamer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for travel!!!!!, November 22, 2011
This review is from: Samsonite Travel Garment Steamer Dual Voltage (Electronics)
I compared this travel model with the full-size J-2000 steamer. They were both very good at removing wrinkles from business-type clothing. We steamed a full week's wardrobe, and the clothing done with the travel steamer looked just as good as the others. The only drawback to the travel model is related to its small size - it needs to be refilled every 3-6 garments, and the smaller steam head means that it takes longer to steam an item. However, I actually found that the small steam head worked better on small areas like collars and cuffs, especially since it has squared corners. The corners mean that you do have to be a bit careful with delicate knits, though. Worth the price if you really need to look your best when you travel

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Stimmer I ever got!!!!, November 22, 2011
This review is from: Samsonite Travel Garment Steamer Dual Voltage (Electronics)
I don't understand the negative reviews as this is a great little steamer and I've had it for years. I could only find it online and purchased one for both my Mother and my Aunt. The trick is using distilled water (to prevent buildup) and not overfilling. I don't ever fill it even to the maximum level. That's when you have spilling and spurting onto your clothes. If you expect it to work like an iron, it won't. And it works better on some materials than others. But if you're looking for a great way to freshen clothes and cut back on dry cleaning bills, this is it! I don't iron, so I use this for everything except my cotton work shirts, which I have dry cleaned

Good product, light and small, solves big problems when you are travelling and your shirt comes out of the suitcase all wrinked. Easy to use, stands up to what it promises.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best travel Garment steamers I've ever owned, October 15, 2011

One of the best travel Garment steamers I've ever owned, I tired Rowenta, it was a joke even though it looked much nicer but it was bigger. This samsonite is very compact but it does the job much better than expected. it is also 110-220 dual voltage so it is ok whereever you travel!
