This is an awesome umbrella. The only problem I had was that the handle was too short for me. I am 5'9" and would have to keep my arms up higher than I would with other umbrellas.
Don't get me wrong, I still use since I have not seen better ones yet. All the Samsonite that I bought were the BEST. Super-strong.

I expected it to be a little more solid construction, I guess, but it is better than your run-of-the-mill umbrella that you'd buy an most stores. I'm not sure how it works, but the wind resistance is really quite good. It's much less susceptible to winds than conventional umbrellas. The "automatic" open/close works surprisingly well, too, but be aware that you do have to "assist" it to fully open and closed positions. The protective carrying sleeve fits quite well.

I work in Boston and walk about a half-mile from the train station to my office each day. The weather can be foul, with rain, sleet and snow coming at you sideways. I wanted a portable umbrella that could withstand the wind while offering some protection. This umbrella had decent reviews so despite the relatively high price I bought it a month ago. My first real opportunity to use it was today and I pressed the button to open it and it worked beautifully. To close it, you press the button again and the umbrella collapses but doesn't actually close the main shaft all the way down - you have to push the top of the umbrella down to close the shaft.
On the way home it opened again just fine. I got to scaffolding on the sidewalk so I pressed the button to close the umbrella to make room to pass other pedestrians. When I got back to the street I pressed the umbrella again and the shaft moved up but the umbrella failed to deploy. It looks like a cheap plastic ring at the inside top of the umbrella is meant to hold it together but a metal pin on the shaft somehow dislodged itself and broke through the plastic ring. Do yourself a favor and save some money by buying the cheap disposable umbrellas. This umbrella is also very heavy for its size. 2115|R3LCRSEYU3P2T4;2115|R2OM9XIJVTYN5I;2115|RYMGSMYRQGLK2;
