My husband and I have been traveling over 40 years and have had many suitcases during that time. I was looking for an easy bag to handle that would hold as much as possible. It is very sturdy, held plenty of clothes and additional gifts for a five night stay and has very convenient pockets for "liquids" and my laptop to be pulled out at security. All that would be enough but the "Spinner" feature allowing it to turn in all directions was the icing on the cake. I could push it "sideways" down the aisle to my seat with great ease and lightly push it through the airport or drag it like the non-spinners. I'm buying one for my sister's birthday. Thanks Samsonite!

Chewed up the back wheels,

The bag works great in an airport, but after my first trip down car rental row I chewed off the back two wheels pulling it behind me. Amazon quickly sent out a replacement assuming it was a faulty piece. Unfortunately the second bag faced the same fate. Friendly advice, keep it on a flat smooth surface.

My prior favorite suitcase finally gave up... unfortunately they don't last forever when they are bounced on luggage belts, thrown onto luggage carts, and squashed into airplane cargo holds.
This suitcase was a bit more expensive than some, but the prior reviews suggested it was well-made and well-designed. It's now been on a 3 week trip to Singapore and back (6 airplanes, and traveling over 20,000 miles) and worked just beautifully. It was checked luggage for this trip, and supplemented by a small daypack for the things I wanted to keep with me on the planes - a change of clothing, personal electronics and valuables. This suitcase is smaller than the one it replaced, but is very well designed and held everything I would normally take. Its size also means I'll have no trouble getting it into overhead bins when it's a carry-on. And I love the 4 spinner wheels! I've never had those before, and they are just fabulous. I'm very glad I paid a bit extra to get this excellent suitcase...

Ope Zipper,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this in October, 2010, and now the zipper snags, and won't close properly along the bottom edge. I can't see any visible damage - appears to be either a manufacturing defect, or a bad design. I travel a lot, and need something sturdy, and prior Samsonite products have held up well. I am now suspicious of this one, although the spinner concept is great. In airports w/o carpet, I can fly through the terminals with my backpack resting on top of the suitcase, so no load on the body at all - a HUGE difference.
I'm now in Europe on a business trip, still have the zipper issue, even when the suitcase is empty, so it is not due to over-packing. I just sent an e-mail to Samsonite so we'll see. The option of returning it to Amazon ran out a few weeks ago. Tumi now has a spinner design as well, but it's about $545. Victorinox has one as well, and it can be had for about $210.00. If Samsonite doesn't come through, then I'll probably try theirs. I also checked Briggs & Riley, Boyt, but couldn't find any 4 wheeled luggage. Hartman has 4 wheeled luggage, and the same size as the Samsonite is $412.00 on sale.

Handle not as well engineered as the rest of the suitcase,

I love the color of the suitcase. It is why I bought it. I knew that I'd easily recognize it on the luggage carousel, which indeed I did.
The suitcase arrived quickly (yay for Amazon and Amazon Prime) for a trip leaving in two days. I ordered both this spinner and the matching carry on case. The case is okay (nothing special). This spinner is my first spinner. I also ordered the amazon.com/gp/product/B004HOAE3S (Samsonite Silhouette 12 21" Spinner Luggage) in sapphire for my daughter at the same time from Amazon. Pros: + Size, fits easily in the overhead luggage bin on Alaska Airlines when it isn't expanded. + Comes with a laundrybag/day pack. It is a small bag with drawstrings that you can use as a lightweight day pack, or to go to the gym, or to put your dirty laundry in. + It spins/pushes easily. +++ Fits great down the airplane aisle without bumping passengers in seats, I just pushed it ahead of me The Other Side (cons and...) - The pull out handle doesn't pull out or push in very easily when the suitcase is full. On the way there (Seattle to Orlando) the handle was difficult to move in and out, on the way back it didn't pull out. On the way back the suitcase was very full and the expansion area was also in use. I've not had this problem before with any of my other suitcases. - With the suitcase fully loaded, and the expansion panel utilized, the suitcase tipped to the front fairly easily. I had to pay attention to how it was moving. - The extended handle should make a great pull/push for this spinner luggage, but when it was extended, there was a lot of flex. So, it was more awkward and tippy than it should have been when going over uneven ground, getting on/off escalators, up curb cuts, and similar occurrences of traveling life. In summary: I'll call Amazon and see if they will exchange it for the model I got my daughter or if it will go to charity (I threw the box out when it arrived). My daughter's suitcase - which wasn't quite as cool color wise, has a more stable handle and double wheels in each corner. She had none of the problems I had. Hers was also more expensive.

This is a great travel bag. It moves easily because of the spinner wheels, which makes it easy to move on carpeted hallways and tiled floors. It's very spacious so can pack a lot. It also fits well into an airplane's overhead bin. Plus, it's an excellent color. The name Samsonite means something in this bag.

Stylish, roomy and functional,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this Samsonite carry on for a business trip for two reasons. The first being that my co-workers all had cool carry on luggage as they travel almost weekly and the second is that the carry on luggage I was using was from 1996 and had the wires poking through the canvas. I knew that I wanted a Samsonite piece of luggage as the reviews were great for all of their products. I also knew that I did not want a boring black carry on. A female co-worker of mine advised me that I had to get one with spinners on it as it is a must have, non-negotiable feature. I have to say she was right! The spinner feature is awesome, makes navigating through the airport so much easier! This bag is roomy, all the compartments have a purpose and I absolutely love the color! The handle extends so that it is higher when moving the luggage on all four wheels. All in all, this carry on was worth every penny!

Great Carry-On So Far!,
By
This review is from: Samsonite Women's Xspace 21.5" Expandable Spinner (Apparel)
I received this bag and the matching laptop tote (see my other review for details on it) as a birthday gift last month. After much online research and reading countless reviews and an in-store trial at a local Macy's, I decided to ask for this particular Samsonite line. I am very impressed with the luggage and plan to buy the bigger bag for checking luggage on longer trips. I wanted a carry-on that had spinner wheels, a suiter, and was high-quality enough to last several years. I balked a bit at the price, but similar luggage that didn't appear to be as of good quality was within the $30 range of this bag, and I honestly think it is made very well.
The stitching/seams are totally finished, no loose thread ends or places where it's come unsewn. Others reported on the iffy quality of the zippers, but I have used this twice so far and have had no problems with my zipper getting stuck or feeling flimsy or like it might rip off. The bottom has a nice extra flap of fabric sewn on to be used as a handle when hoisting overhead, as well as a built-in constructed padded handle on the side. The telescoping carry handle adjusts to two different heights, and I am fairly tall (5'10") and have no trouble pulling it at the higher setting, and I found the lower one useful while in the aisle of the plane. The inside is great--roomy, fully lined, has a built-in plastic-lined zipper compartment to keep liquids from leaking onto clothes. I really like that the suiter compartment is separate from the main area, so your hanging clothes get zipped up into the top and away from dirty shoes, etc. There are a couple of smallish zippered compartments on the outside of the suiter, one mesh and one opaque fabric--I guess you could store ties or accessories there (I only put my necklaces in it) but it's pretty flat so only small things will fit there. Probably thin trouser socks would be fine, but bulky athletic socks have to find somewhere else to go. It also has the expandable feature that you may either unzip for a fuller suitcase or leave closed for a thinner profile. It rolled along effortlessly in the airport and on gravelly paths back to the parking lot...I did have a bit of trouble trying to roll it across the thick carpet of my sister's house, but that was it. It rolled fine across the low-profile carpet of a hotel. Others reported the wheels being eaten up by gravel or cement, and while they ARE soft rubber, I didn't notice any excessive wear and tear on mine after either trip (and I did check since I was a bit concerned about the negative reviews). They're still perfectly round and rolling along smoothly. The one feature I wish this bag had is the zip-up compartment for when you are no longer using the telescoping handle, like my last Samsonite bag had. It's not essential though, so no star deductions. The only reason this didn't get five full stars: I ordered the Mars Red, expecting a brilliant dark red as pictured online (they didn't have red in the store I went to see in-person). I was a bit disappointed when they arrived and I found out it's more of a dark maroon...the fabric is actually a maroony-red with black thread in it, and the plastic and faux leather bumpers on the corner are most definitely maroon. It's not the end of the world, but I really did want a bright red. If I had known they were maroon, I probably would've chosen the Solar Rose, which in person is a lovely mauve shade. Oh well. I'm still satisfied and intend to use this bag till the wheels literally fall off!

This bag just arrived, I've been waiting for it for ages and I chose it very carefully. It's beautiful and spacious, I checked out many bags and this is def. the best balance of fashion and function (I took the Venus Rose).
The big disapointment was that the handle is faulty. It just doesn't open and close properly. It snags and takes effort, I'm pretty positive it's not meant to be this way. Since I live overseas, I don't really have anything to do about it. Another note- the bag is shinier than it looks in the picture, it has this very metalic feel. Not nec. bad, just consider this.

I love this suitcase! I wish I had gotten it earlier. The four-wheel design makes it much easier on my shoulders and elbows to cart this suitcase through multiple airports. It's well-designed and fluid in use. Highly recommended!
