Looks great, no problems,

Set up is easy, performance and value are good and appearance is nice. Set monitor control in Windows XP to 1600 x 900.
Attaching the stand is tricky. I paid $140.00 plus tax at wholesale club. Lay the monitor face down on carpet against the wall to keep the piece steady. Take care not to scratch or force anything. The "arrow" side of the "ball" faces the front of the monitor, and the "straight line" side faces you/faces up. Gently but firmly pop the the "ball" into the socket. Then lift the monitor and ball however you feel comfortable and attach and screw the bottom base to the "ball." Diagram enclosed with the monitor is not as clear as it can be.

Sleek and beautiful, with a frustrating stand set-up,

I bought this at a local brick & mortar shop. I am putting together a computer set-up for my classroom (with mac mini) and was going to go with a cheaper Acer model until I saw them in the store. This Samsung looked impressive on display: sturdy and sleek, with a picture that popped. The border is glossy - much like my Samsung television. The border on the Acer looked and felt like cheap plastic.
Like another reviewer, I had a problem with the stand. You can't be gentle with it. I covered the top of my couch with a sheet, put the monitor face up on it, then shoved in the stand as hard as I could. Since then, there have been no problems. I love this monitor!

Just purchased from a big box store for 10 bucks cheaper than Amazon. You really can't beat the value of this performance for the price. I've owned several Samsung monitors, and all have been excellent. Great picture quality, and longevity. As one reviewer noted, the method of attaching the base to the monitor is a little odd, but once you line up the pegs & holes, it snugs right up.
It does all the things you expect a monitor to do. Windows XP sees it right away & lets me set the resolution to 1600x900 - didn't even need to install the included software. Also, for those who don't know the lingo, the "15 pin D-Sub" connection is the VGA connection than most PCs made in the last 10 years use. No worries about connectivity.

nice screen "but",

Very nice screen output, very bright and has the necessary controls needed for a monitor, BUT, the stand is serious drawback for a picky user. I got the base on but looked at the screen with head tilted to the right. For what ever reason the screen was tilted with the right side lower. I have placed a old mouse pad under the right side to raise it a little. Just going to add felt feet to one side of the base.
This does reduce the overall product which is should be unnecessary. All Samsung needed was to improve a obvious defect but they choose not to do due. And yes, it does wobble on my desk but we only use for normal home internet use, I found it is bearable. This product should have 4 to 5 rating but the issue on the base brings it down, sorry they choose this action.

Stand won't attach,
This review is from: Samsung 2033SW 20-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I had high hopes for this monitor, it would be my second Samsung monitor and the last one was stellar. I unpacked it and couldn't get past installing the stand! I read the box, the printed instructions and combed the CD for tips or clarification. Nothing. I got help from a co-worker and HE couldn't do it, even when applying all of his considerable strength. Buyer beware, this may be troublesome for you.

This monitor is great... I don't have any complaints. The stand went on perfectly, it probably took me 1 minute because I'm not the best when it comes to putting stuff together. BUT THIS STAND WAS A PIECE OF CAKE!!! Don't listen to all those lunatics who complain about the stand and bring the rating down. It is a great monitor!

So far so good. I have used this product for approx 3 weeks now and have no complaints. I bought the referb model to save a little green and no regrets as of yet. This monitor has a crisp clean picture and has a stunning appearance. I have tested connected through VGA analog and DVI-D ports and both connections result in an awsome picture.

This Monitor scores good on looks. Black and sleek looks quite stylish. However, I did not find its performance satisfactory. The picture quality was not good. The images were not sharp and the color of pictures was not a true reproduction. As I was not satisfied with the picture, I tried to adjust the colors, sharpness and contrast and was again disappointed. I found the adjustment buttons to be very unintuitive. After half an hour of trying, I could not figure it out and just gave up. Fortunately, before buying this monitor, I tried it out at a friends place and decided against buying it.

Probably closer to 4, but I'll need more time to evaluate. Concerning the mounting base. The little thumb tab on the screw on the base is a little frustrating, my camera tripod has same and for an old f**t w/ authoritis it can be a challenge. But I noticed all the negative remarks seem to be due to the assembly of the base. There are 2 "male" locators on the base that fit into corresponding "female" holes on the monitor, (at about 10 & 2 o'clock} get these aligned and your set to crank down - snug not tight. Pretty stable after that. Didn't need the software - couldn't get it open in anycase. Up graded a Viewsonic A70 - must be 10 yrs old still works. Like trading my wife in for a 40 yr old girl.
Update after 1 weeks use: I'd up to 4 / 4.5 - noticed a tag on the upper right hand corner (front)says 50,000:1 Dynamic Ratio. Haven't checked factory specs but that's a bargain. Advertised @ 15,000:1!
