True Colors Shining Through,
By
This review is from: Samsung 2233BW 22-Inch LCD Monitor (Electronics)
This monitor is big enough for anyone with limited visual problems. True colors and clear sharp picture. Easy controls on the side of the screen. Turns on quickly without lag as some monitors do. It is light enough to move anywhere on the desk but secure enough not to be knocked over. The price is wonderful and the delivery was fast. The monitor was delivered safely and right to my door. I used the free shipping method and it was delivered in two days. This was an amazing experience from delivery to viewing. The Set-up is easy and the computer linked with the monitor immediately. There was no need for the info CD. Wonderful, a great buy.

I got a great monitor for Christmas!,

This review is from: Samsung 2233BW 22-Inch LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I got this for Christmas, and I love it! The picture is fantastic, and I use my computer to watch DVDs as well as for regular computer stuff since I don't have a TV. It's big and bright, and the menu is easy to operate with the buttons on the side of the monitor. Everything is crystal clear, and I can sit across the room from this when watching a movie and see perfectly fine. I love that it's widescreen. I have plenty of room to open multiple windows if I need to work in different programs, and all my photos look so good now on the screen. It's bright and stylish. The acrylic bevel on the bottom was a nice touch.I gave it four stars because the base was a little hard to pop in, and I had to have my dad help me push it down all the way. It is adjustable for tilting and lightweigt but still very stable on my desktop. It also comes with a microfiber cleaning cloth which I appreciated. Highly recommended!

First LCD Monitor - No Issues sofar,

**** I dont play Video Games etal ****.This is my first LCD monitor and it works like a charm. As the other reviewers mentioned installing the base to the monitor will test your patience. My PC does not have a DVI output, even with analog connection I am happy with this monitor. If I have to come up with a CON, This monitor has a no height & limited tilt adjustment with this monitor. Unless other brands of equal reputation offer better price go for it.

Don't let the Stand Install issues sway your decision!,

This review is from: Samsung 2233BW 22-Inch LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I wanted to address the big negative issue that seems to bear its head in virtually all reviews for this LCD Monitor. I'll leave the technical and graphical performance to other reviews. (But I am very happy with it!)I added several photos to the collection for this monitor to show some things I will describe. (You should be able to see them above) To begin, the shipment box is not nearly as large as I expected, and comes within no other (unmarked) box! If this is a gift, send it somewhere where the gift recipient will not see the package. (Photo) Besides the Monitor and Stand parts, the package contains a Quick Step Guide, Warranty Card, CD-R Software (User's Guide / Drivers), A Power Cord, DVI Cord, VGA Cord, Cable Holding Ring, and Cleaning Cloth. (Photo) After unpacking, the assembly of the base stand to the monitor is where things begin to give many people problems. It is unfortunate that I hesitated to buy this monitor simply because of the negative comments regarding this evidently painstaking process. Obviously I got over the fear, and took the plunge. Jumping to conclusions, the assembly is not really as difficult as I was expecting! I was honestly ready for a battle with this monitor! Prepared with Extra Virgin Olive Oil to lube the "socket", and some workout attire I went one-on-one, and won the battle with ease! (5 Seconds at Most!) The combination of placing the monitor screen upside down on a solid and firm, but non-abrasive surface (carpet), and a very tiny dab of olive oil rubbed along the rubberized socket of the monitor, the football shaped ball socket joint of the base snapped in relatively easy! (See Photos) Note that the actual base itself even comes in 2 parts... On the contrary to what the Quick Setup Guide shows, assemble those two pieces together AFTER you have snapped the socket portion into the monitor! MUCH EASIER!!! Now that I know the quality is good, and realize how easy this is to assemble, armed with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, I will be buying 2 more very soon to complete my 3-monitor array for one of my computer systems!

horrible monitor.,

Samsung sent me this monitor to replace a syncmaster 225bw since they did not have any in stock to replace it.First of all, the stand is awful. It's a round egg-shaped thing that fits into the monitor, but the force that's required to put it in can certainly damage the monitor. I was never able to get it in for over a month. Samsung tech support was not helpful about it and claimed that the stand issue was my problem. I read on some obscure forum that some guy got his to fit by having it upside down on his bed as he forced it in by putting all his body weight into it. I tried it and it popped in. I finally was able to use it. Fast forward 3 months later, the monitor just went to a black screen and no matter what I tried, it won't show anything other than black. I rma'd the monitor, shipped it back. they claimed they did a repair on it and shipped it back. I open the box to find the same issue. I swear all they did was wait a week, put it back in another box and shipped it back. I did another rma, shipped it to them, they claimed they did a repair and sent it back, same issue. I am currently on hold with "customer relations department" to get them to just issue me a replacement. I've been on hold for 40 minutes now and still counting. At this point, I would just say that samsung has gotten too big for their own good. I used to love their products, but now I wouldn't recommend any of their products to anyone. It's a good thing I waited on buying that samsung hdtv a few weeks ago... EDIT: a follow up on this review - I was placed on hold with their customer relations department, they finally picked up around 6:50. I told her exactly what happened with this monitor, and how many times it was sent for repairs with no results. She said she will send another monitor and when I receive it, I can send back my old one. I said no problem, and she put me on hold. After about 5 minutes on hold, the phone hangs up. I tried to call back only to have the customer support person tell me that customer relations is closed now. After some arguing, he issued the exchange. Today my monitor shipped and it's at home. I am just Hoping that Samsung ran out of 2233BW's and shipped me a better monitor...

nice but not stable,

Bought 2 of these monitors last year in September - loved them until about a month ago when they both (not at the same time) started flickering when turned on, this has progressed to one monitor not turning on, and one still flickers for about 5 minutes before it stabilizes. From research on the internet - this seems to be a semi common problem 9-10 months into owning the systems. Supposedly Samsung is repairing/replacing the problem monitors however the problem seems to reoccur every 9 months or so - so I'm strongly considering buying new monitors from a different company.

Install Stand without oil :),
This review is from: Samsung 2233BW 22-Inch LCD Monitor (Electronics)
So far the monitor is pretty nice and works fine. It did take me about 15 minutes to install the stand. But basically you just got to first put the stand together. Then you got to forcefully shove either the left side or right side in as far as possible. Then you have to forcefully wiggle the other side and keep wiggling both sides until it gets in. The arrow should be facing the front of the monitor.

Absolutely amazing!,

This monitor is absolutely amazing. We just upgraded my fiance's computer and I wanted to get her a monitor to match and all I can say is that we were both floored by the picture quality. You will never have to squint to read anything on this monitor. It took maybe 5 minutes to set up and get going. Shipping took 3 days with the free super savings and all it all a very nice experience.

Warning: no Windows 7 drivers!,
This review is from: Samsung 2233BW 22-Inch LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I've enjoyed this monitor for a while, but recently got a computer running Windows 7. The resolution options offered for the monitor are now all wrong. Photos are stretched very wide, etc.No problem, I figured I would just go to the Samsung site and get their drivers. Unfortunately their driver failed with error messages. So I talked to their live chat and they informed me that it's not compatible with Win 7. Now apparently I am going to have to buy a brand new monitor even though this one worked fine up until I upgraded. Yeah, I know this model of monitor was first made in 2007, but... well... I guess this is why they're selling it so cheap!

After two years, my 2233bw started flickering. I thought it was the driver. Spent months checking cables and settings, updating software, all to no avail. The flicker and scanning problems drove me crazy, and Samsung wouldn't help me out. I'll stay away from Samsung products in the future and recommend you do the same.
