Samsung L100 8.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Red)

This small camera has some pros and some cons. For me, this is a secondary camera (used when my wife and I travel separately), and it performs very well for that purpose.

Pros
- Lightweight
- Plenty of shooting options
- Price
- Built-in battery (no hassles with AA batteries, etc. like other cameras in this price range)
- Battery lifetime

Cons
- The shoot mode dial on top changes easily when the camera is in a pocket. You need to make sure that it didn't change (or you'll start recording a video when you really wanted a picture, etc.)
- Closeups are a bit blurry, even when using the built-in mode for that.
- Flash takes a while to charge
- No standard USB connector - you have to travel with the supplied cable to sync and charge.

I bought the Samsung L100 8.2 MP digital camera for my daughter's birthday, on the recommendation of my son. I asked him to find one that was simple to use, reasonably priced, and took good photos and this one more than filled the bill. I love dealing with Amazon and have always been happy with purchases made through them. My daughter enjoys using it and the pictures are great. It can even take movies and uses rechargable batteries, a real plus since disposable batteries can be expensive. We would definitely recommend it.

Having owned a few Nikon digital SLR's and point and shoots, I was drawn to this camera by its cool looks at first. With its ability to shoot fully manual, adjust white balance, two hours of moving video, and numerous other desirable features including a tripod socket, how can you go wrong for this price? Samsung knows how to pack alot of bang for the buck into a small, attractive and effective package. I hope to break it in soon.

Just bought this camera recently and have been using it frequently. This is a very, very easy camera to use, and the picture quality is fantastic. The best part is you don't have to spend an arm and a leg for it. If you're very passionate about cameras and photos, you'll probably want to purchase a digital SLR; but if you just need a casual, point-and-shoot camera, I highly recommend this one.

I got this camera for my 18 years old grandniece as her first camera.
Over the years, I've owned many cameras from Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc. And after reading numerous reviews, what attracted me to this camera was the ease of use, the girly color, and the price. It turned out to be a good choice. And my grandniece loves it. She was able to figure out how to use it on her own in no time.
The camera is very easy to use, it took very good to excellent pictures in a variety of lighting conditions, it records video, it's small enough to fit in a shirt pocket, has rechargeable battery that last for many, many pictures even with flash. In addition, it has the expansion slot for SD card, so you can take any number of photos depending on the SD card.
Overall, this is a very good everyday use camera and a very reasonable price.

The camera was fine, but quit working while under warranty. There was no serial number on the unit. I guess it was on the box, but we could not find the box. After 10+ days of me calling customer service, faxing the invoice, and e-mailing a picture of the camera to prove there was not a serial number - Samsung told me it was illegal for them to service the unit under warranty. I wasted hours!! If they had told me that to start with, I could have lived with it. If at all possible, I will not by a Samsung product again.

I received this camera as a gift, and used it on my recent trip to Italy. Imagine my dismay when I discovered that many of the pictures I had taken were not even valid jpegs! No program could open them! Moreover, many other pictures had not been processed correctly by the camera, leading to images that are missing color channels, split, or a combination of the two. Hopefully this is an isolated issue, because otherwise this camera works well for simple point-and-shoot purposes.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 15-yr old daughter. I didn't want to spend more than $100, but I also wanted at least a reasonably recognized name brand. She has just been using it for 2 months, but so far this Samsung L100 has performed extremely well. I believe we got a lot of performance for the price. It starts up very quickly, resolution is excellent, and I like that it has a built-in rechargeable battery instead of AA batteries. I opted for a 2GB SD card as well so capacity is great. I also purchased a small padded camera case to help protect it.

The best thing about this camera is its size. Very easy to slip in a jacket or purse.

I bought this camera with little to no research first and it was a good camera for the price. The pictures are clear and crisp. When zooming in on the pictures, detail that we didn't even know was there, was captured. My only problem came about 5 months after buying the camera when, for what seems to be no reason, the lense refuses to retract and the camera now won't shut off without me taking the battery out of it. This happened right in the middle of a birthday party for my 13 year old daughter. Even the LCD screen quit working.
But, that said, I plan to buy the same type of camera to replace it.
