Just another cell phone...,
By
This review is from: Samsung A610 Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
The reasons people are giving for not liking this phone are all problems that seem to be with the provider not the phone (service in certain areas etc)! The phone is a bit larger than other phones on the market but has great battery life. While the flip around screen is cool, it is annoying after a while to have to keep flipping and such. It would be such a better phone if it had a caller ID window on the other side in addition. The camera does what it is supposed to do i suppose.. let's face it: it's a camera phone, not a nikon. All and all it's just another cell phone in my humble opinion... just a matter of personal preference. It does everything it is supposed to do. I have had no problems with it.

not so great.,
This review is from: Samsung A610 Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
Ive read comments about bad service being the provider not the phone but i had really awesome service and reception before i got this phone. I rarely had dropped calls and cd get service places where no one else cd. now that i have this phone im lucky if i can make a call in my own apartment without the phone hanging up. Maybe Verizon has gotten worse? maybe its the phone?
Other cons: Its annoying that you have to open it to see who is calling. but the flip screen makes great entertainment for toddlers- just turn on the camera and face the screen so they can see themselves :) The text messaging will go over the character limit but still lets you send the message, or rather it acts as if you sent it but you didnt and you have no way of knowing. Previous phones i have had just wdnt let you type past the limit. Also cant type a message when you have no service (previous phones i had wd save the message until service is available) That is all. I would prefer a phone with better reception than all the fancy stuff like flip screen and camera but those aspects are decent on this phone.

love's it,

I'd like to start off with the first review states this is just another camera phone> i have had so many people tell me this camera talkes great pictures.i think there better than most camera phones out there. they are so clear on my phone. 2nd i've never had one problem with this phone at all. always 5 bars unless in a warehouse where i get 2 or 3 bars. i do agree that i would of been a nice feature to have caller id on the front of the phone. Also there is no problem with sending pic messages easy just read directions if cant figure it out on your own. i did call verizon on why some people cant get my pics. they said only verizon and cingular people can see them because we use the same frequency. one other great feature you can send a voice memo with any picture you send. all in all i love this phone and wouldnt hesitate recomending it to anyone

It breaks repeatedly!,

I liked the phone when I first got it a year and a half ago. I thought it was cool that the fliptop swivels. However, after about a year, the fliptop started to get loose and wobbly and eventually my screen went black and I couldn't receive and place calls. Thankfully, I am under warranty so the phone was replaced. The second phone I had for 2 months and then had to get replaced because I kept getting no service in places where I had great service with my 1st phone. So, I got a third phone. The third phone is threatening to break. I've had it for a week and the flip top that I don't ever turn for fear it will break like the first one, is already loose and wobbly.
This phone sucks. I keep having to get replacement phones, I lose all my text messages, photos and ringtones each time. The photos and ringtones i can get back, but I have to go through the tedious process of reuploading each and every one of them. The text messages however, I lose forever. I can't wait until my contract is up. I will never get a Samsung phone again after this peice of crap. I am going back to Motorola. I had a StarTac for 3 years and that thing is still kicking. Unfortunately, I donated it to charity once I got this phone so I can't use it.

Fun Phone,

I love this phone. I live in an area that is essentially a blackhole for wireless service & I can usually get at least 1 or 2 bars. Service inside the 'big box' type stores is hideous, though.
The specific reason I chose this phone is the photo caller ID which I have found emmensely helpful & fun to play with. I find it much easier to look at a picture rather than trying to read the name & number. My only difficulty so far has been sending pix messages, but that may just be me & not the phone. The battery lasts a long time & finding my way around the phone was a fairly simple process given my track record with electronics.

I have had major problems with the one screw holding the flip together withe the rest of the phone. It loosens up and your flip is no longer stable you have to go get that screw tightened or do it yourself. If for some reason you don't get it tightened in a timely manner the the ribbon cable will get damaged and your phone will break in one fashion or another. I am on the third of this phone. First one lost audio, second lost the screen. Verizon refuses to do anything about my dissatisfation with this phone. They will just keep replacing this one. I have had one nice manager say he would let me void the last year of my contract so that I could buy a new phone and sign a new contract with him. Not biting. I have been with Verizon 8 years but, I am going to go to Verizon corporate, and if they can also do nothing for me I am finishing out my contract and going to another company. All this over one phone.

Terrible phone. It is bulky, has terrible operating software (constantly crashes), and worst of all it has roten reception. I live in a major metro area and get at best 1 bar of reception (an I regularly update the antenna setting). I replaced an old motorola flip flip-phone with this. Now I am trapped in a 2 year contract and cannot upgrade for a while. AVOID My Mistake.
