I find the Samsung Galaxy Pro to be a decent messaging phone.

Pros:
Nice looking phone
Light
One of the few android phones with the external keyboard
Has touch screen
Pretty responsive.

Okay:
Keyboard is fine to type with.
Although light, it takes a few days to get used to the plastic feel.
Battery life can get you through a day for an average user
3 mp camera but no flash.

Cons:
Screen resolution not the best
No multitouch but you can double tab zoom.
Price a tad high - under $200 would be more reasonable.

Overall:
I find the Pro acceptable as a basic smartphone. It's android, it has an external keyboard, and I don't do that much internet browsing. If the price were under $200 then it would be a deal despite some of its shortcomings but overall it is still a decent budget phone. Nice dessign, lightweight. A good entry option to Android OS based equipments for those who want to feel real keys under their thumbs / fingers. However, after realizing many apps will force you to put the equipment sideways you will start asking yourself why didn't you go for full touch screen right from the start.
Call quality is good. GPS works fine also, camera is fair under good lightning (no flash)

This phone was ok for the price but screen was too small to be touch screen. The screen resolution was low, and it would shut of on me at any time. Usually once every day. It was returned.

My main issue is that if you use the device keyboard / built in keyboard there is no spell checker. To call it a professional phone and not be able to spell check your emails / text as you write is quite frankly `unforgivable'. It is not that it does not have a built in dictionary, it does, it is linked to the touch screen keyboard - which defeats the point of having a built in keyboard plus it takes too much room on the screen, is very small and fiddly!

Kies (Samsung software that links your phone with mobile) is a disaster, when I spoke to Samsung about the above, I mentioned this and was told that 90% of their support phone calls were about Kies not working.

I wanted to love this phone, it is my first Samsung, it will be my last. I shall be returning to HTC.
