Like many others, I liked the full browser feature and the wireless kboard/mouse support. I bought one from Costco a few days ago and the wireless mouse worked but the browser never loaded, just sitting there hanging. Netflix was sporadic - some movies loaded while others don't, or loaded but dropped midway. I tried wired network connection with no improvement. I thought I got a defect so returned it and got another one: Same problem. I am returning the second one tomorrow. The apps HUB looks real nice though - all the features make this player look like a really attractive product, but they just don't work. Bummer. This could've been my favorite BD player if it worked... There is a design problem with this product; there can't be this many defects flying around. That in itself is a design issue. Even made me wonder if Samsung tested the player before releasing to the market!

This device has been very frustrating from day one. The worst $100 I have spent in a long time. I would recommend that you stay away from this unit. I am very disappointed and somewhat surprised that Samsung would product a product of this nature.

The wireless connection is completely worthless. Using wireless I was constantly getting messages that the network had been disconnected. However, I was able to ping the unit from my Linux box. I had to run a cable and hard wire the unit in to maintain any sort of stable connection.

I have a wireless keyboard that I use with the device because the on-screen keyboard for some of the apps is completely unusable. The gripe I have with the wireless keyboard is that some apps refuse to recognize or use it. (Netflix for example)

The Netflix application for this device is horrible. It constantly requires me to re-enter the user name and password. I have also had to remove and re-install the application in several cases in order to get it to function at all.

There is no Amazon Prime support on this unit.

The power on time for the player is on the long side. I would say it is 30-45 seconds before the unit is usable on a power on.

The only good thing I have to say about the player is that it recognizes and plays DVD and Blu-Ray disks very quickly. (That is once you can get the unit to open the tray.)

I wouldn't pay $29.99 for this piece of cral let alone $179.99. Keeps freezing during all streraming (Netflix,
You Tube everything. Now the thing won't play a Bluray or other dvd, will not give a picture when trying
to go to the HUB, just a black screen and stopped on display, nothing else.

The player works ok with most Blu-Rays and DVDs, but much to my disappointment, it doesn't play some 3D blu rays, for example the new Resident Evil Retribution 3D blu ray. Once the main film starts the load, the player locks up and the TV just displays a black screen.

Hi Everyone - First, I'd like to show my thankfulness for having the opportunity to voice my opinion in a respectable forum such as Amazon. Some people are not so lucky you know.

This device - BD-EM59C - is crap and you should avoid it. Let me back that up...

I am a software engineer for the worlds best, biggest, and most popular enterprise scale video conferencing company. I know video well.
I own a Roku 1 XD - we actively stream on this device everyday.
I own a current apple TV - we actively stream on this device everyday.
I own a PS3 - we actively stream on this device about once a week.
We do not subscribe to cable in my house - we only use the internet for streaming media.
I pay subscriptions to Amazon Prime (i.e. Streaming), Hulu Plus, Netflix.
We actively stream video daily on said devices from Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, YouTube, Pandora, and Amazon Prime.

I am a hardware geek and love to play with new gadgets - so, while browsing around at Costco I saw this. I said, "self, you love Samsung - you own their nice refrigerator, nice washer and dryer, multiple TV's (older models), several phones - blah blah, THIS IS AWESOME - my bluray is going out on the PS3 so I can justify the purchase to my wife - you can trust Samsung ...

WRONG!

This is BY FAR the worst Samsung device I could possibly imagine. The interface is an utter joke to me. The speed of the interface is inadequate as a torx bit is inadequate for broadcasting radio signals. And the browser - hah! more like IE5.0.

Let me put it this way. I really do know video.
