Yes, I stood in line for a full hour in my small little town waiting to get that camera, and boy did I love it!!! It does take some REALLY good pictures and I bought the little case and memory card with it too. It had everything I wanted; a big screen, good pictures, I could even set the lens to record video and take pictures in black & white. But then the day came. [it broke; I don't know what happened to it] I tried to cut it on, but it didn't respond. Finally, the screen came on and it was white and responded with black seizurish flashes. The people at Wal-Mart say that Samsung cameras are the most returned. So the whole point of my story? If you get it, be careful with it. It is a very good and unique camera. I loved it. I ordered a Kodak with my refund money [that I'm going to review as soon as I get it], but if I don't like it, I'm going to get this one again [for 30 extra bucks...] hope you like it!!!

I bought this camera on Black Friday because I needed a camera to replace the one that I had for ebay. I figured that this one, at least, would take average photos in auto mode. However, it doesn't stop action in auto mode and I got alot of blurry photos at a cross country meet that I went to this weekend. The photos of people standing still were good. I also tried using this camera inside a gym to get photos of my son wrestling but that was no good either. So...if you are mainly taking photos of still people or objects (like ebay stuff) you should have success with this camera. If you are trying to stop action....no good. It also DOES NOT HAVE a sports mode so if you wanted to choose a scene with the camera, such as sports, to automatically adjust the speed of the shutter, you can't. That will all have to be done manually (which can be done) but is probably not within the realm of novice camera users. All of the other digital cameras that I have owned, 2 Sony and 1 Kodak, all stopped action in auto (point and shoot) mode. The plus side was that the shot that I took at the beginning of the race had all of the legs blurred and looked cool. Even though I wasn't going for that effect, I got it and it was okay BUT I won't trust this camera again for important sports photography.

cons: uses alkaline batteries( problem overcome by purchasing rechargable batteries)

I owned this camera for one and a half years, and overall it was a really good camera. The batteries lasted a long time, and I dropped this camera multiple times on hard surfaces and it never broke. Very sturdy. The red color actually looks even better than the pictures shows.

I gave it four stars for a couple reasons. First of all, there was an annoying lag for the picture to be taken after you pressed the button. Secondly, you have to hold very still or the picture turns out really fuzzy. Other than those two things, good sturdy camera for this price.

I would give it a 3.5 if I could. It's a decent little camera with some caveats.

Pros:

Several useful features ( video, timer, etc)
Manually adjustable

Cons:
Does not stop motion or have an automatic setting for it (anything moving at all is terribly blurry)
Indoor low light shots without a flash are not good in auto mode, with a flash they are as bad
Photos taken in high contrast (shadow/bright light) aren't very well balanced
Eats batteries FAST

Basically if you need the camera to take pictures of things that are still and well lit the camera will do a decent job. If you are more than the average entry level camera user you can probably figure out how to get better pictures with this camera under less than ideal conditions, but still not great. For someone who just wants a point and click for everyday use in a variety of settings I'd go somewhere else.

I also bought this camera during Wal-Marts Black Friday back in Nov 2008. You get what you pay for. I bought the rechargeable battery charger along with the chargeable batteries and my camera has worked very well for me. It's time now to buy NEW rechargeable batteries. Takes colorful great pics, has alot of options, and a good size memory card. I must say I need to invest in a better high end digital camera. Cant be without my camera.

I bought this lil guy 3 years ago on Black Friday, and I'm still using it. It still produces very nice pictures with very good quality, too.

The flash is great without being too bright. It's very good with helping you get the best picture, too, by having the target on the screen turn green when the environment is in optimal conditions and turns red when the light is too low or when it can't find the right focus point, mostly when the camera is held too closely to something. The menus are very polished and can easily be navigated (unlike some that I've seen on bargain-bin digital cameras). Another thing to note is that it boots up very quickly, so you'll have more of a chance to catch the next cute thing the dog is doing while scrambling to grab the camera.

The batteries used in the camera also maintain a long life without having to be those ridiculous 4-pack batteries for $7. I've been using the Kirkland battery packs you can get at Costco, and those things last for-ev-er in this camera!

Overall, an excellent camera and well worth the price!

I loved this camera. It was easy to use and it took great pictures, UNTIL I too got the much talked about, fated "White Screen" after only about 800 pictures. I never bumped it or got it wet or abused it. It just went. I am so disappointed. I even went as far as carefully opening the camera and disconnected and reconnected the LCD screen to no avail. I just bought (June 2010) this camera refurbished off of eBay, so I am sure there wasn't a warranty. If there was, I am sure I voided it by opening it. I guess you could consider this camera a good, but VERY expensive "disposable" camera.

And it still works like a charm! It takes amazing quality pictures, and it is very easy to use.

This is a very simple to use camera. It does a great job and you can't beat the price.
