Awesome Phone for the Average User, Exploding with Features,
By
This review is from: Samsung Beat Phone (T-Mobile, Phone Only, No Service) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This phone had barely just come out when my current phone started to fail. I went to T-Mobile for a replacement only to be disappointed. T-Mobile stores don't have a great selection of phones at all.
I decided to pick this little flip phone up, and I was NOT disappointed. On the outside the phone looks pretty sleek and stylish. I've received plenty of compliments on how it looks. I like Samsung phones and I loved this one. Samsung makes gorgeous displays (I own a Samsung MP3 player and TV as well) and this phone didn't disappoint. It comes with an solid Mp3 player that pumps out amazing sound quality through the built-in green speaker on the front of the phone. This little speaker is amazingly loud, and was an instant hit with all of my friends. The earphones it comes with also pump out top shelf sound but are a tad uncomfortable in my ears. If the included earphones are a problem for you, don't fret, the box comes with an adapter so that you can use any headphones you want. It also has an excellent 1.3 megapixel camera that takes great pictures for a phone in this price range. The Video camera is capable of a 352 x 288 resolution screen, with a duration that is as long as your Micro SD memory card can take. You can transfer both your pics and videos easily using an included micro SD adapter. The box also includes a USB adapter that you can use to transfer your songs to the phone using Windows Media Player. The sync process worked seamlessly for me, and was super simple to use. You can then set any song in your phone as ringer as well. The only bad aspect I've seen with this phone so far, is an bad battery life. My last Samsung phone could last 3 and a half days with regular use, on one single charge. Make sure you charge your Beat every night, because it won't last 2 days without some juice. Altogether, this is a great phone, packed with features. An excellent piece of technology for the price.

Beg To Differ,

I beg to differ regarding this phone. The most noticeable downfall for me was the sound quality of the internal mic. My callers all said that I sounded muffled to them and I often had to repeat myself because they couldn't understand me. The second thing was the text messages received didn't save in date received order. They were all over the place after I closed the flip. Yes it's cute but other than that I sent it back after a week.

Extremely Unhappy With This Phone,

This review is from: Samsung Beat Phone (T-Mobile, Phone Only, No Service) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I needed to purchase a new phone when the California "hands-free" law went into effect. I called T-Mobile to see about upgrading from my Nokia, explaining to the representative what features I was most interested in (Bluetooth capabilities and a clamshell style) and asked what he recommended. His immediate response was the Samsung Beat. He spoke very highly of the features and claimed that ALL of his customers absolutely LOVED this phone. Well, this is one customer who absolutely HATES this phone.
The first issue I had was the short battery life. I only use my phone to make phone calls, of which I make very few, but even on stand-by I need to recharge it every couple of days. When I complained about the extremely short battery life, T-Mobile gave me a new battery. When that didn't solve the problem, they gave me a new phone. Unfortunately, the problem persists. After reading what others have experienced, I realize it is the fault of the phone design; not the battery, not the charger, nor the individual phone. My next biggest complaint is the terrible call quality. The reviewer who said it sounded like the caller was "speaking through a pillow" really hit the nail on the head. I can hear a little better when using my Bluetooth because I can increase the volume a bit more, but it is still impossible to get nice, clear reception. My other complaint is that it takes a ridiculous number of steps to send a simple text message. I have yet to send a second text message after experiencing a great deal of frustration trying to send the first one! I hope my experience will prevent others from making the same mistake I made.

Good range of features, terrible phone,

As the Samsung employee (M. Sanchez--go look at his reviews, they read like a marketing campaign) who gave the Beat a glowing review states, this phone does pack a surprising breadth of functionality for what is now a free phone with a service contract ($18 "upgrade fee" if you extend your existing contract). However, after use, it skips a Beat (AHAHAHAHA...whatever. You guys suck as an audience anyways).
The Samsung Beat is woefully underpowered. Everything from the music player to scrolling through your MyFaves contacts suffers from a delayed response. Get used to hitting the Play button about 8 times before you finally figure out that you have to press it and wait 15 seconds to be sure the Beat noticed you pressed a button. The Beat is a horrible, horrible telephone. As the other users have been nearly unanimous in decrying, the sound quality of the microphone will surely elicit complaints from your callers. The headphones do indeed hurt like the dickens after about an hour (and I have big ears). Worst of all, the internal antenna loses signal constantly. While my Nokia 6103 had no trouble around my house (3-4 bars of signal strength), the Beat loses connection repeatedly near any large object. I had to switch to the Nokia yesterday to continue a conversation because the Beat kept dropping the call when I'd get near the washer and dryer. I have the same trouble standing at the counter washing dishes, with a flippin' window right in front of me. The phone desperately needs a second connector. It uses one proprietary connector for everything: USB, power, and headset. T-Mobile should have also streamlined some of the menu options. For example, setting the ringtone from the main menu does not affect calls from your MyFaves contacts, although nothing indicates that there is a separate setting for those contacts (there is: you have to click around in the Options menu while hovered over a MyFaves contact, and each contact has a different ringtone that must be set). If it didn't hold and play a sizable chunk of music, I'd huck it out the window and leave a stylish imprint on some unsuspecting passerby's face. Look for something else!

Poor call quality...,

This review is from: Samsung Beat Phone (T-Mobile, Phone Only, No Service) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I've had this phone for about a week and will be sending it back. It's really too bad because it seems like a neat little phone. However, the call quality is a deal breaker. As another reviewer said, the calls sound muffled. People sound to me like they are talking through a pillow, and my friends have reported that I sound the same to them. I put my sim card back in previous Nokia 5300 (replacing due to a cracked LCD) and the calls are crystal clear on the Nokia. It may be that only some of the Beat's have poor quality, but I'm not sure.
UPDATE: A local T-mobile store let me test another Samsung Beat and it also had poor call quality. I even tried to trick my sister on it by telling her I was calling her on my old Nokia and she didn't buy it. She could tell by the muffled sound that it was the Samsung Beat.

I have return of this phone to T Mobile hoping to get a longer Battery life but the conclusion is the Battery only last for less than 2 days. I talk less than 10 mins & don't use the MP3 player. The specs says it last for 10 Days on Standby. But last only 2 days or less.
Also, very low volume speaker phone and too small to really get a comfortable grip on it. This is a crappy phone, period!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

My old Samsung (don't know the model) could go for 4 days without charging. Granted I only used that as a phone and not a music player.
Still, listening to music on this phone for less than 2 hours a day (maybe more like 1 hour) and talking for less than 30 minutes, the phone dies after a day and a half. So basically, when used properly, this phone needs to be charged nightly. No other complaints so far, but haven't had it a month yet.

Don't get this phone,
By J. Bly (Missouri) - See all my reviews

My husband and I both got this phone a month ago. For the first 3 weeks it was awesome, then I started getting a screeching noise when I would talk on it. I changed the sim card and it stopped, but then it just stopped working. I would turn it on and start to make a call, and it would turn off. My husband's phone wasn't even receiving the calls. I would call and it would ring and ring on my end and he would have nothing. Then his just stopped working. It did the same as mine. It would turn off. The batteries were charged fully and we had even reset the phone, but it wouldn't work. Don't buy this phone.
