WEP410 - Bestest Bluetooth Headset Ever,
By Cliffy "Cliffy" (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Samsung Bluetooth WEP410 Headset (Electronics)
I've purchased many Bluetooth headsets, in hopes of finding a really qualitative one.
I've got Plantronix, Motorola and Jabra Bluetooth headsets. BUT, one day I was in Best Buy, and I saw the Samsung WEP410's size; and I thought to myself that it'll probably have "less than crisp" transmit audio, with as equally poor receive volume as Motorola and Jabra. And then, I'd just add it to my collection of inferior product, sitting in a box in the basement. I'm an entertainer; and I was due in New York for a concert appearance on Saturday, August 18th (the day after I purchased my WEP410) at 8:00 AM for a show time starting at Noon. At 7:15 AM, with my cell phone set on auto-answer and my WEP 410 underneath my motorcycle helmet, traveling at 75 MPH on the New Jersey Turnpike, when I received a call from my sister, from the venue that I was due at, she seemed upset, saying that she couldn't believe that I was still at home; and that I was due there (for sound checks and wireless mike distance checks)in less than an hour. When I told her that I was en-route, and that I was talking with my new headset underneath my motorcycle helmet, again, at 75 MPH, she said that it sounded as if I was speaking from home (I have my home calls forwarded to my cell, when I'm not at home). It wasn't as if I had told anyone that I purchased a new headset and they were trying to make me feel good about my purchase. The transmit quality is "landline quality". The receive clarity and volume are equally as impressive. Motorola and Jabra could take a well needed lesson from the Samsung WEP-410. The only thing that one has to get used to with the WEP-410 is that you don't hear your own voice, when you are speaking. That took about 5 minutes to get used to. BUT, it's vastly superior quality more than compensates for that battery saving feature. I have no association with Samsung; and you're welcome to send me E-Mail at: cliff_wild@verizon.net.

Works great, less cyborg-looking than the Motorolas,
This review is from: Samsung Bluetooth WEP410 Headset (Electronics)
I like this headset because of its small size and great reception. Even though it doesn't have an over-the-ear clasp, it fits perfectly into my ear and never feels loose or in danger of falling out. I use it for Skype, and the range is really good when I'm walking around the apartment. Get a good Bluetooth USB adaptor for your computer if you don't already have Bluetooth installed. (I'm using a Kensington.)
The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the multi-function button (which you can see in the product picture) is right where you can inadvertently tap it, and I sometimes do. It's really not that big of a deal because all you'll do is mute your call until you tap it again. Once I'm used to it, I'm sure I won't have that problem anymore. I'm very happy with this headset.

Samsung WEP410 Bluetooth Headset This is the only bluetooth that worked with my PEARL. I tried 3 or 4 of the Plantronics 600 series units and none worked without a lot of static. No the bad side of this ... DO NOT lose or damage any of the ear gels because If you do, you're "SOL". I've been told by Samsung that additional CAN NOT be purchased. The originals are all you're going to get from Samsung.
***NEW INFORMATION .... I had to reorder the unit because I lost mine and when I received it this time it came with a double set of each size ear gel. Good news for all in case you damage one of them.

This blue tooth headset is remarkably small and light, it's easy to use and provides good volume and call clarity. Great for the car, home or office. Very comfortable in your ear and stays put, even though it's small. This is a Consumer Report's best buy!

I purchased another headset that just didn't work very well, and was hard to use. This one is fantastic. It has great sound quality and very good volume. I also like that I can put it on with one hand, which you can't do with most other headsets.

This stylish in-the-ear Bluetooth headset has great sound quality, is very unobtrusive and, when purchased through Amazon.com, is a very good price. I recommend it highly if you don't endlessly use a cell phone (4 hrs of talk time).

The Samsung WEP410 is an excellent bluetooth hands-free device. I love the in-ear style bud. For the first time in a long time, I don't need to roll up the windows in my car in order to hear the person on the other end. The device is very small and light. I have even forgotten that it is in my ear on occasion. I am also extremely satisfied with the microphone. I have not had any of the problems that arise at times with hands-free devices, I don't have to shout, and people don't hear every noise in the background.
My gripes with the WEP410 are mostly the same as other reviewers' gripes. The button functions are not very user friendly. Turning the device on and off is rather involved, having to hold the button down for four to eight seconds. This makes it difficult to save battery power by turning the device off between uses. The battery, so far, has proven to hold up against this problem, though. I have used the device on the road for three days without re-charging, (moderate use). The WEP410 comes with a very sturdy and convenient carrying case. It protects the bluetooth device while it is in your pocket or bag. I only wish that Samsung had installed SOME kind of automatic switch in the case that would turn off the WEP410 when it is placed in the case. Like other users, I don't understand having the default function of device button being Last Number Redial. With all of the other bluetooth devices I have had, the single tap starts the voice command dialing, (from which you can state "call last number"). I have worked around this problem by simply not using the button on the WEP410. I mainly use the functions of my Blackberry to avoid any problems or misdials. My biggest gripe, however, has to be the charger. Why?! Why oh WHY did Samsung put a strange charging end on the device? I have not seen a single-pole charger on ANY cell phone related device EVER. I like how most devices have gone to mini-USB chargers, so you can use your cell phone charger for your bluetooth device. You do not have that option with the WEP410. As I mentioned earlier, the battery life seems to be very good on the device, but I don't like that the only way for me to charge it is to either buy a second charger to take on the road, or to remove the charger from my charging station in my office every time I leave.

I find the bluetooth wep410 headset to be more than your average bluetooth headset. It fits comfortably in your ear and the sound quality is top notch.

Searching for the perfect Bluetooth headset? You've found it.,

If you like large, bulky, clumsy, uncomfortable Bluetooth headsets, you probably won't care much for the Samsung WEP410.
However, if you prefer exceptional comfort, ease-of-use, and intuitive design in an ultra-compact, lightweight device, with good voice clarity through both the microphone and the speaker, here's your headset. No awkward over-the-ear hook; simply choose from three sizes of included softgel earpieces and this sleek little unit stays smoothly in place under any conditions. The multifunction button - with crisp tactile and audible feedback - makes it a breeze to initiate voice-activated calls, accept incoming calls, terminate calls, redial, and more. Separate volume control buttons are easy and precise. Charging the headset is simple and very fast, providing excellent battery life. Don't let the small size and reasonable price fool you; this is a brilliant product. Is it really perfect? Of course not. But in the world of Bluetooth technology, it's the closest thing to perfection yet. (Oh, and it looks good, too.) Beautifully done, Samsung. |
