High-ptiched whine.,

This review is from: Samsung C997DF-T/T 19" CRT Monitor (Silver/Black) (Electronics)
While the display seems very good, it make a very unpleasant high-pitched whine when, for example, viewing white pages with only black text. The same problem is reported for the Samsung 957MB, so it's not just this unit.

After shopping for a crt monitor ,asking the usual questions, what is the dot pitch, resolution, menu adjustments etc.I decided on this model. Reason price. At $179.00 a 19" comparible model ran approx. $159 to $279. This model has all the features, color adj,20dot pitch, max res, you could want.It came with software so your printer will print the exact color on the screen, not only that but it adjusts to your lighting conditions. The screen is clear ,crisp, and amzingly sharp. So for $179.00 for a 19" you cant go wrong.Thats just my opinion.

They work good for me,

I've got 2 of these on my system that I use for video editing and 3-D animation. I am very pleased. The picture quality is good. I have not noticed the above mentioned 'noise' but I normally have other equipment on in the room so it might go un-noticed. I bought mine Oct 15 2004 so perhaps that problem was fixed by then.
Though I never play games I have worked with some pretty high resolution images and the monitors really get the job done. Plus, they look darn good with my other equipment. The little buttons on the sides were a little quarky for me at first since I was used to front controls. They 'look' smaller than my other 2 19s (CTX and Viewsonic) but actually have just as big of viewable screen. The footprint is comparable to my viewsonic which is pretty small for a 19 in CRT and takes up much less desktop than my CTX VL950 did. All in all good monitors and I'd certainly consider buying another.
