1.0 out of 5 stars Not a good product
This is the replacement for a imaging kit I purchased and both were not very good. They both started giving me a Black Toner Supply Error, forcing me to power down to reset. This one also squeaked loudly. Amazon would not replace it a second time but opted to give me a refund.

It was simple to install and it worked immediately. It fixed my color laser printer, but the complaint that I have is not the imaging kit, but the cost of the fix. I bought the entire color laser printer for about $100, but this imaging kit cost over $100. This means that it is more cost effective to buy a brand new one and not fix this one. That would have been wasteful, so as much as I hated to spend more money to fix it, I went ahead and bought this imaging kit. I am hoping that this imaging unit last at least a couple of years to assuage the insanity of the relative cost of the fix. My comment to the manufacturer is that they design more robust parts and if not, have a 3 year warranty instead of the 1 year warranty (which may imply that they are only responsible financially if the system only last one year which is not a good product...printer that is).

5.0 out of 5 stars It works great now..., January 28, 2009

Bought as a replacement for the imaging unit in my Samsung CLP-300N Laser Printer. I installed it last night and it seems to work great now. But the printer itself has been a nightmare. It has problems feeding the paper all the way through the printer, many times jamming about only an inch or two out of the paper tray. Lately it has been slipping so that the print is applied half an inch further down the page than it should be. I have had the printer just over a year, and then this Imaging Unit failed. It should have lasted for 20,000 pages, but has lasted less than 1500 pages. It remains to be seen how long this new one will last.

this unit worked like a charm and the toner cartridges have come down hugely in price. much most cost effective than buying a new color laser printer. streaks in black print are history.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great while it does, but..., September 19, 2011
This review is from: CLP-300 Imaging Kit (Office Product)
...save the receipt and the shipping materials! Chances are good that you had to buy a new imaging unit for the CLP-300 because of vertical fade lines on the paper. A new imaging unit WILL fix that problem... for a time.

The problem lies in a design flaw in which toner builds up in the imaging unit on the individual color drums. Since black is used most often, you'll likely notice faded text before you'll see fading images, but the principle is the same. Over time, this toner build-up prevents transfer of toner to the paper, resulting in vertical fade lines about 2 inches into the left side of the sheet.

I confirmed with Samsung that the new imaging unit has a 1-year warranty on it. So if you print a LOT, you may end up calling them for a warranty replacement. If it takes longer than a year for the vertical lines to appear, well... chalk it up to the cost of owning this particular model of laser printer. I still find it more cost-effective than buying a bunch of ink for an inkjet printer.

There ARE instructions online, replete with photos, on how to disassemble the imaging unit to clean it; if you're mechanically inclined, you'll always have one in the printer and one in standby. As an electronics guy, however, I am a weapon of mass destruction with a screwdriver in my hand. So I get to pay for a new one every once in awhile.

Bottom line: the CLP-300 is a great laser printer and the imaging unit works great as long as that toner's not built up. Once it does, however, it's a repair or replace decision.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to install, if not annoying to have to., September 15, 2011

We had the old CLP-300 sitting at our office in the attic and needed another printer downstairs. I got it and hooked it up, only to find out that the imagine unit was toast. For the $100 it costs for the unit, I could have just bought a new printer, but we already had a bunch of extra ink cartridges for it, and decided it would be best. However, I got it in and the printer works flawlessly now.

I am tech and computer savvy, but this was so easy to install that my grandmother wouldn't find any problems installing it. So it works, easy to install, but is quite irritating to have to. After looking online this is a big problem these specific printers have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why did I put it off so long?, April 28, 2011

This review is from: CLP-300 Imaging Kit (Office Product)
We have two of these printers and both the drums went bad close to the same time. I was not surprised since my husband used his heavily on his construction job and I used mine at home for school. We put literally tens of thousands of pages through with no problems at all. I tried to follow an online how to about cleaning the drum but it didn't work. So, I gave up and got a replacement mono-color printer.

The problem is, I loved my CLP-300! I couldn't bear to get rid of either of them so I just put them up on a shelf. Since my replacement printer stopped working recently (I am NOT abusing these things, I swear!) I had to do something. So, I bit the bullet and decided to try this imaging kit. I figured if it didn't work I could return it, and it was certainly cheaper than buying another color laser. And, I have 5 boxes of ink sitting right next to the printers, I did not want to have to throw away that much in $.

The package came double boxed. The box the kit was in was packed nicely inside an amazon box. The drum itself was in a fairly large box, protected with Styrofoam end pieces, holding it away from the sides. I just took off the black plastic, followed the picture instructions and loaded it into one of the printers. I took the ink out of the old drum and put it into the new one, being sure to remove the orange protectors first and shut the lid. Total time, 5 minutes. I plugged it all in and prayed it would work. It did!!

I am thrilled to have my favorite printer back. I told my husband and he instructed me to buy two more of these kits. One to replace in the second printer and one to keep as a spare. As I said, I LOVE this printer, it's the best one I have ever had. I just wonder why I put buying this off for so long, it works fantastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Samsung Lazer Printer Parts, April 9, 2009
This review is from: CLP-300 Imaging Kit (Office Product)
I have had the amazing Samsung CLP-300 for two years and have run tens of thousands of prints through it. It has never failed. But after heavy use you do have to replace the imaging roller. The Samsung replacement kit came in the mail---easy to install---and was ready in 10 minutes. Amazon sure makes it easy (and cheaper than going to the dealer) to keep this low cost lazer printer in operation.
