T-Mobile Services

  • High-speed data connectivity via T-Mobile's 3G network: In addition to its quad-band GSM connectivity, this phone is also compatible with T-Mobile's UMTS/HSDPA 3G network, which operates on the 1700/2100 MHz AWS spectrum. This phone is designed to automatically connect to the best available network (3G or GSM/GPRS/EDGE) to provide faster data speeds when accessing the Web or downloading content from the T-Mobile Web2go content portal. T-Mobile is currently rolling out its 3G network, and it expects by year's end that its high-speed data network will be available in those cities where a majority of its subscribers currently use data services.

In areas where the 3G network is not available, you'll continue to receive service on the via T-Mobile's EDGE network (which stands for "Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution"). This high-speed, mobile data and Internet access technology is fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services (with average data speeds between 75-135Kbps), including full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and e-mail on the go.

While this phone is optimized for use with T-Mobile’s high-speed 3G network, many of its functions will also work well on the moderate-speed EDGE network. If you plan to access the Internet extensively on your phone, 3G network coverage may serve you best.

Activities that work well on EDGE or 3G networks:

    • e-mail, instant messaging, and texting
    • Downloading ringtones, CallerTunes, wallpaper, light data files
    • Sending photographs via e-mail or picture messaging
Activities that work best on a 3G network:
    • Viewing content-heavy websites (lots of images or videos playing)
    • Viewing YouTube and other video files (they will play on EDGE, but require loading time)
    • Uploading large files (photos, videos, presentations) to sharing websites
    • Downloading large files from an e-mail or a website

4.0 out of 5 stars Many features for the price -- good value, November 28, 2009
This review is from: Samsung Comeback t559 Phone, Pearl White/Plum (T-Mobile) (Wireless Phone)
I've been using the phone for about a week. Just as a phone, it's much superior to my previous cell phones -- works clearly in my house and in buildings where my previous phones didn't function. That may be more a function of the t-Mobile network, which I never used before, than of the phone itself. The internet connection is fast and easy to use. Same with email; I was able to get the phone to recognize my Comcast email system almost instantly. The camera is quite good for a phone camera and you can immediately send photos via email. The biggest surprise for me was the GPS, which works well and gives voice directions. Speaking of voice commands, the phone responds to voice instructions without the need for "training" for your voice. I'm not a "texter," but I tried the text messaging just to see how it worked -- no problem. There's also an mp3 player, but I'm not planning to use that. Has the expected organizer functions -- calendar, timer, stopwatch. Entering appointments into the calendar is a little tedious. No radio.
I paid $29.99 for the phone at Radio Shack with a two-year commitment to t-Mobile -- $40 a month for voice (500 minutes a month) and an additional $10 for unlimited internet. No charge for the GPS.
I'm completely satisfied -- haven't found anything wrong with this phone. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of an iPhone, and there's no touch screen, but for the price it's great.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice phone...., March 23, 2010
This review is from: Samsung Comeback t559 Phone, Pearl White/Plum (T-Mobile) (Wireless Phone)
theis a pretty nice phone. sorta like a sidekick, but less expensive. Has a bunch of nice features, like email, MP3 player, cmera/viedeo recorder, & best of all, a qwerty keyboard for the text message. the keyboard is a little small, but once you get used to it, it's won't be a problem. Plus, this phone is 3G capable so the internet on it is pretty fast.
Something I kinda didn't like was that it didn't come with a standard head phone jack and it doesn't come with the USB cable to sync the music and photos. Aside from that good phone!

4.0 out of 5 stars i love it!, September 4, 2009
this phone comes in purple and red. i have the red one and i absolutely love it and the keyboard this is perfect for anyone who loves to text and i love how it looks. it may look like a regular phone on the outside but if you flip it up its a full on keyboard similar to the sidekick but smaller and not as bulky looking. its a great phone and i definetly recommend it!
