5.0 out of 5 stars Usage Experience, November 30, 2009
This review is from: Samsung D53 5.0 MP Digimax D53 Digital Camera
The Samsung Digimax D53 is the camera I've owned and used for just over 3 years now.

My recommended batteries are Energizer Ultimate Lithium - I have easily taken over 150 pictures on a single set of that brand and type of battery. They are made for electronics and are well worth the money.

As far as most of the pics I've taken, usually if it's a blurry shot, I either: 1) Moved the camera while taking the pic, or 2) Took a pic with the flash off and moved the camera. I suppose if you want to take fast action shots, you'll want to get something like a digital SLR camera, OR you can just use the movie mode and take a video - afterward taking still pictures from the captured video.

Generally, I have the picture setting on Auto (at the 3 MP setting) or Movie (for video). Windows Movie Maker encodes the MJPEG avi files to about 1/10th the file size without losing any quality. A 2GB SD card can hold about 26 minutes of 640x480 standard quality video and/or over 1100 3 MP-setting pictures. Note: This camera uses standard SD cards - it cannot use SDHC flash media.

Overall, I would recommend this camera to anyone wanting a reasonably-priced point and shoot digital camera.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great picture camera and video camera, June 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Samsung D53 5.0 MP Digimax D53 Digital Camera
I bought this item new as my christmas present in 2006 for about $90 at walmart. It was a great purchase. I can't really complain about anything. The 5.0 megapixel resolution is not bad, and the 640 video resolution was good. It meets the requirement for picture and video, which was why when it was stolen, I purchased another one here on amazon.

1.0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE! DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CAMERA., June 23, 2009
This review is from: Samsung D53 5.0 MP Digimax D53 Digital Camera
This is the worst camera I have ever handled. I recieved it as a Christmas present and had problems the minute I opened it. First off, the pictures were extremly blurry. I had to put the settings to child mode just to get a decent picture. The zoom quality is absolutely terrible, it's fuzzy and grainy. Not to mention this camera runs on 2 AA batteries. It eats them up within about 20 shots. Keep in mind, this camera only accepts certain batteries. & when it runs out of battery it freezes with the lens out. Therefore making it very hard to carry. It's a larger camera and does not fit into pockets well. Within two months I had to send the camera back to be replaced because it wasn't workin correctly. They replaced my camera (with the same model) since it was under warranty, and this camera did not work any better. I will give it this- it was durable. Until one day out of the blue, it randomly broke. I called Samsung and they had "no idea" what was wrong with it, but could fix it for a fee of $58, since my waranty was up. If you ask me, this camera isn't even worth $10. Needless to say, I will not be replacing this camera, or purchasing another Samsung product. I have not owned a product of theirs that hasn't broken or had a defect. It's a terrible brand if you ask me. I just ordered a new vivitar, and I hope this camera works better.
