Almost everything I wanted,

This review is from: Samsung DVD-VR345 Hi-Def Conversion DVD/VCR Combined Recorder (Electronics)
I have had this unit for about 3 months without any electrical problems. The reason I got this unit was to make backups of all of my old VHS tapes on to DVD, but it doen't let you copy any copyrighted material. I still can copy all of my personal recordings to DVD, which is nice, because now I can throw out all of those VHS tapes.
I would say the nicest feature is the upconvert to HD. This is great because I fed my satellite dish receiver through it and it upconverts everything I watch. I still can't figure out how to reset the counter on the VCR, except for pulling the tape out and then putting it back in. I also wish the manual was a little more clear when it comes to multiple session recordings to a DVD. The list of DVD/VCR combos that upconvert and record to dual layer DVD's is very limited so I'm glad I found one that fits most of my needs. All in all I'm pretty happy with this DVD/VCR.

Worked great for 30 days - just long enough to not be exchanged, then the High Def output stopped working. The other features still work, but I bought it to be used with HDMI, and that output is totally dead. Will have to send to a service place for repair.

Samsung DVD/VCR recorder + Tivo = Happy Customer!,
By
This review is from: Samsung DVD-VR345 Hi-Def Conversion DVD/VCR Combined Recorder (Electronics)
I bought this unit so I could make space on my TIVO. I followed the instructions from Tivo and from the Samsung unit, which was pretty simple, and before I knew it, it was done. After hooking everything up replacing my VCR with this unit, I gave it a test run by transfering a couple of shows from my TIVO to a DVD. Voila! I had DVDs of my Tivo shows and more space to record on my Tivo too! Entering in chapter titles etc. could be easier but overall I'm very happy with everything.
