The only way to listen to music would be through the speaker out if you have it connected to a Bluetooth device.

Hopefully i can help clear up some of the confusion regarding this dock.. here it goes:

i think some of the hesitation for people buying this dock is due to the slight variation in form factor between some of the galaxy nexus'. People should know that the sprint and verizon versions of the galaxy nexus are slightly thicker, due to them having LTE antennas. Both the verizon and sprint galaxy nexus are the same thickness, however. the GSM / HSPA+ galaxy nexus (unlocked bought from the google play store) is the slightly slimmer version.

THIS DOCK IS FOR THE SPRINT AND VERIZON VERSIONS. i happen to own the sprint Gnex and it fit's perfect, like a glove. the phone slips right in and doesn't wiggle.

there is also some confusion about the dock being able to activate the "desktop clock" mode. this is because until recently, the verizon Gnex wasn't running android 4.0.4 (the latest official version of ice cream sandwich. the Gnex needs to be running android 4.0.4 for the function to work, but don't worry because both the sprint and verizon Gnex phones are up to date... unless we're speaking of jelly bean :(

another thing.. this dock DOES NOT HAVE A HEADPHONE JACK. don't be expecting one! it does, however have HDMI out, which is way better anyways (for you audiofiles out there). i have the dock set up with my receiver and it plays any audio the phone is putting out though the HDMI, all while being charged at the same time.

oh yeah.. i can't speak to video out because i really just haven't gotten around to trying it... however if i had to guess i'd think it will work just fine because HDMI is a great in/out for both high quality audio and video.

as far as build quality.. this dock is great!

So when you go to the review of this dock on droid-life, it talks about launching the clock application, and not working except with video, I.E. no mirroring, but the one I ordered from Versio Mobile does. I'm a little curious, thinking this may be just a mhl adapter inside, which is $13 or there abouts. My dock does not launch the clock app either.. Phone fits in it like a glove, and it does mirror, even though i think its not supposed to... I'll do a little research and maybe file a claim.

Edit:
So it wasn't the docks fault at all. The i515 simply doesn't support the dock fully in 4.0.2. Either update to 4.0.4 makes so this dock launches the clock app, and videos rented from the market look great(720p). Until Samsung releases the pogo dock, this is going to be my bedside dock. Wonderful

OK, OK. This is not the dock with the pogo pins. I get it. This uses the USB connection on the Galaxy Nexus and once the phone is put into the cradle, desk clock mode kicks in. You will need at least ICS 4.0.4 from what I understand, so if you don't have that by now, shame on you. The cradle is heavier than I thought it would be, is not cheaply made and the phone fits in with no problem. The only con is it does slightly rock from side-to-side but that may be my nightstand. I will try it out somewhere else and let you know. I have not tried the HDMI out as I do not have a cable to test with. Also, this makes the phone look good. Great purchase for what I paid (under 35 on Amazon).

When I purchased my Galaxy Nexus last February, I was prepared to wait a little while for accessories to come out. I'm still waiting. I did buy one of these docks from Amazon but I'm a little disappointed in it. The main reason I want a desk top dock is not only to charge, but to go into clock mode and be a functional alarm clock. Otherwise, what's the point? If you buy one of the battery chargers made by Samsung (Samsung ETC-CPK008GSTA Verizon Galaxy Nexus Battery Charger Kit) they are configured with a groove at one end that supports the phone in a landscape position. If you plug a micro USB charger plug in and put the phone on it's side, it will automatically go into clock mode. The problem with the portrait position dock shown here is that when you position the phone into it the dock blocks the speaker on the back of the phone, rendering it next to useless as an alarm clock. This might be OK if it had a speaker jack. Then you could use external speakers for the alarm or music. But this only has an HDMI output, thereby limiting your speaker options considerably. I also use a Diztronic flexible cover for my phone which needs to be removed before the phone will fit into this dock. Not so if you use the battery charger ETC-CPK008GSTA with the groove in the end. Also, this configuration does not block the earphone/speaker jack on the phone so you can connect external speakers if you choose.

This cradle works exactly as it should. My phone Galaxy Nexus always immediately detects that it has been docked and goes in to "night clock" mode. I use this every night because my phone is also my alarm clock. The single gripe I have with it is that it can be sometimes difficult to put my phone in the cradle if I'm not look at the dock while I'm putting the phone in. This is only a lazy inconvenience when I've already laid down and don't feel like lifting my head up to watch myself put the phone in the dock
