1.0 out of 5 stars So many problems April 3, 2012
Let me first say that I am a chef, so I put this stove through every test I could, but I cook *normal* food on my stove.

Let me say second, that I had the first stove (same model) sent back to the store after the first round of problems.

The largest burner (front left) drops it's temperature without warning or indication. The temperature just dives, and this makes sauteeing and frying extremely difficult - I have ruined many dishes because of soggy crusts and rubbery filets.

The other main problem with stove #1 was the noise. When I boiled water with one burner and cooked something else on other burner, the stovetop would make high-pitched screeching noises that sent me out of the kitchen (apparently, I'm part dog). I found it difficult to cook from the other room, so I basically could only use the stove as a glorified hot plate, only using one burner at a time...

Well, my replacement range (Samsung Induction FTQ307) did well for a few months, then the problems have returned. The large burner kicks out after using it on #7, and the burners are making horrible squealing noises, just like before.

New problems!: The cooktop randomly changes the level at which I am cooking without warning. For example, if I have the back burner going on level 8, it lowers itself to 5.5 for no reason - no spillovers, nothing. It doesn't even beep when it does it, so I have no idea that the burner has been lowered. I thought my husband was playing a joke on me, but he swears he didn't do it, and it's done it when I'm alone.

The oven beeps when temperature set is achieved, but the oven is 100+ degrees cooler than it says. It takes an inordinate amount of time for the oven to heat up. I cannot bake bread anymore as the oven doesn't recover fast enough when the door is opened.

I cannot use more than 1 burner when the oven is being used. If I use a second burner, the power drops to both burners (not linked to each other), and the oven temp drops.

I cannot use more than 2 burners at the same time. I get too much noise feedback, and the burners cannot sustain the desired temperatures.

I want to send Samsung a message that I feel that they are using the consumer as a test lab, and allowing us pay $2000 for a stove that has real defects in both design and execution.

The arrangement of the burners is ridiculous. The back-right burner is so close to the controls, that you can't set oven temps or use the timer without moving the pot. And when that pot is boiling, it sends condensation into the control panel. Hmm, I wonder how long before THAT starts to malfunction?

When you put a burner on level 2 or 3, I expect to be able to cook something at a steady temperature. Nope. The power cycles through in 27-30 second intervals so that the pot is either bubbling or doing nothing. There is not a way to just have something cook on low. Forget trying to make a creme anglaise without risking it breaking because the heat is not controlled and even...this is what induction is supposed to overcome with radiant heat electric. Induction is supposed to surpass gas in it's ability to adjust heat. Nope. Not with this stove.

The repair man said to avoid using the self clean function as it really messes with the temperature sensors (which is what sets the burner/oven temps) I have never used the self clean nor the steam function (needless use of electricity - clean your oven after each use and you won't need to incinerate food drips). He said he's seen most of the Samsung ranges have problems after self-clean is used.

On the cosmetic part of what is wrong is that when cleaning the oven door by hand, both inside and out, there is a problem that drips end up between the glass window, and you have permanent drips! Second problem is when you put a towel on the handle, the way they designed the oven vents, there is a real danger of cutting your fingers when grasping the handle or replacing a towel. I've nicked the tips of my fingers several times, and it's in such a way, that you can't "train" yourself to not do it.

If you can't make a product well, just don't make it, and leave it to those that can. Stick to TV's and phones, Samsung.

Addendum:
To specify the types of pots and pans used on this stove:
All-Clad D5, Le Cruset enameled cast iron, plain cast iron.

1.0 out of 5 stars This range is a sham! August 31, 2012
My wife and I are foodies and bought this range together with a Samsung fridge, dishwasher, and microwave when we redid our entire kitchen. We were exited by the even heating similar to a gas range, with the power to boil liquids far faster. This range has been one disappointment after another.

The large burner is useless. It requires a very large pan to cover the induction coil in its entirety. If you bump the pan off center, it will shut off and report a fault that cannot be overridden until the burner completely cools down. If you are making an omelet and so much as tip up the pan up to redistribute the eggs, it faults and your omelet is ruined because the pan won't fit on a smaller burner. Even flipping the breakers off and on will not clear the fault. An authorized Samsung service tech that came to repair it says this is by design because of the power of the burner. I say that is ridiculous. Anticipating a problem, I once shut it off to pour off bacon grease so I could wipe out the pan and use it for scrambled eggs and when I turned the burner back on (with the hot pan in place) it still faulted and refused to heat. I have walked away from simmering pots, only to return to find the burner has shut off by itself.

The burners normally give off an annoying buzz when cooking but when you use two burners on the same side of the range it makes a louder pulsing buzz and reduces the heat of both. When we cooked Thanksgiving dinner and needed multiple burners and the oven, the turkey was barely cooked when it should have been done (based on weight and temperature). We had a dining room full of guests and it took more than an hour longer to finish cooking. I bought an analog oven thermometer to test the accuracy of the oven's thermostat and it was low by 20 degrees.

There should be a class action suit against Samsung on this range. If two burners cannot maintain heat on the same side of the range, there should not be four burners. Consumers should be made aware that an 11-12" pot or pan base is necessary to use the large burner and that bumping, tipping, or even shutting off and temporarily removing a pan can cause a fault that cannot be easily cleared. Nobody, and especially no chef, would knowingly buy this range with such limitations. These issues far exceed other unrealized expectations such as car mileage or horsepower ratings that have led to successful class action suits.

We spent about $1600 on this range and feel like we can't sell it in good conscience because of all of its issues. we are ready to put it to the curb.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cooking Redefined. January 19, 2012

This range has none for the problems that were previously experienced by others. I have yet to use the oven portion at this time but the cook top is beyond belief. It creates immediate heat.
The only disconnect with all the other complaints were that they didn't indicate the type of cookware. If a magnet won't stick to the bottom of the cookware the coils under the cook top won't create the magnetic field to create heat. It makes the bottom of the cookware the burner. I'm using a new 11 piece set of Circulon Symmetry; all the burner areas operate with every piece regardless of size. The cooling fan runs for only 10 minutes after turning off the burner's weather it's one burner operation or all 4. Controls are easy to operate and I like the locking feature so you don't mistakenly touch them and change the settings.
I will add my observations of the oven when I get a chance to use it.
