I'd gotten this as a FREE upgrade through my wireless provider about 4-ish years ago. Since then it's been dunked in ocean water, hosed down with rubbing alcohol, left in the snow for a week, dropped on asphalt at a full 'missing my bus sprint', and only just recently put through a tumble-dry cycle in my drier. It has it's dings and chips, but this phone takes a licking and keeps on ticking. It can not be destroyed.

That being said, if you are looking for a smart phone this is NOT the phone for you. Part PDA, part texting warfare front, this phone was made for someone who already has a portable means of internet. While it boasts a 3G pick up with 4G options this phones browsing capabilities are pretty stone-age and many websites you may try to visit will freeze and crash the default browser. However, if you (like me) are macheine-gunning messages back and forth with friends, relatives, and clients this phone is pretty amazing. It's flip-open design makes it comfortable to use, they keys are well spaced so you're not hitting doubles, and it's QWERETY keyboard layout isn't going to have you crossing your eyes looking for the next letter you want to hit.

From an ergonomic standpoint the phone is clunky - which is why instead of 5 stars it's only getting 4 from me even though I love it. Having to unlock the touch screen frequently to use the number pad has caused me vexation on multiple occasions, and it's sensitivity will have you unlocking it with your face and cheek-dialing numbers you don't mean to. The side-mounted buttons are great from a space-saving stand point, but pocket photography and pants-liner-texting are a frequent occurrence, get used to retaliatory 'wtf' texts from your contacts.

I've used cell phones since 1993 and this is the most aggravating, inconvenient and unreliable cell phone I've ever had the pain of using. The frame is surrounded bu buttons you'll be touching that activates functions you don't want to use while simply dialing or plugging the unit in t it's charger. When dialing a number it automatically locks after sending the number so you have to push several buttons to get a keyboard back to push an extension number. The screen is not visible in daylight and disconnections are constant. The disconnections are not AT & T - other phones I have do not have the perpetual disconnection problem. Unless you want to find yourself shooting up a post office within a week, avoid this hardware at all costs. I'm stuck with it for a couple years as the result of a "contract." Save yourself the aggravation.

I have owned this model phone for 3 years, and recently mine has begun functioning more slowly and losing battery charge quickly (<24 hrs with very little use). I first replaced the battery and when that did not fix the problem decided it was time for a new phone (I have dropped this phone MANY times, so I'm not surprised it's time for a new one). I actually tried a different model first, which made me realize how much I like this model! It's easy to navigate and one of the best features (IMO) is the slide-out keyboard. It's not too small to use, which is one issue I've had w/ other basic phones. If your needs for a phone are just talking and texting, this phone should work well for you. It does have other features, such a music player, that I use infrequently but that seem to work well.

Pros:
Keyboard is nice
Cheap
Basics included
Cons:
Terrible UI
Awful home screen where apps
move around without you doing anything
No home button
Games are bad (Tetris is ok, but oregon trail lasts for 30 seconds)
Data plan needed for everything

This is my first phone, but it could be better. It has the basics, and if you text more than talk then this is for you.

I'm older & already had this phone but got it wet so instead of buying a different phone to get used to, I found the exact replacement. No getting used to something different. I'm happy with it. It is a little more sensitive than my original but other than that I'm happy.

I have had this phone since 2012 and was pleased with the larger screen and plenty of features. The durability gets an A+ but the the operating system and touch screen makes the final score get an F in my opinion. Buyer beware you cannot receive or send pictures with this phone, touch screen is very sluggish and the battery charging has an issue.

Pros: the phone is very durable and accidental drops does not damage it easily. Plenty of features on the phone such as sticky notes, timers, calculators, tip calculator voice recording and other widgets

Cons: the operating system is horribly written. You have three pages to put on widgets of your choice -voice recognition, today-date and time, voice recording, multifunction- which has calls, voicemail, text, im, email and missed event all in one. All of these are options are selectable to put on any three pages. No matter how you arrange them they become scrambled and randomly placed on any of the three pages. Some disappear off the screen and everyday you have to put the widget back on the page. Several times the phone has unlocked the screen and randomly called people. One of the biggest faults of this phone is it cannot send or receive pictures. Another major fault is the battery. The battery leaves you guessing how long it will last. I some times can go a couple of days before charging or the battery can drop dead in eight hours with out texting, talking or bluetooth. The other major fault of this phone is the slow touch response. Sometimes the touch response selects online applications that you get charged for.
