From the Manufacturer

Speak, and the Galaxy S III will Listen

S Voice responds to your every voice command, acting as your on-board personal assistant to give you helpful, accurate information, dial phone numbers, send messages, open apps and more. It will follow your commands and answer your questions quickly and intelligently. You can tell your phone to wake you up, take a photo, answer a call, send a text message or play your favorite song. In fact, thanks to S Voice, you might never talk to real people again.

Share Back-to-Back

If sharing is your thing, the Samsung Galaxy S III is your phone. With S Beam, you can share large HD files in seconds — just touch compatible devices back-to-back. S Beam takes full advantage of NFC (Near-Field Communication) and Wi-Fi Direct technology, making it quick and easy for you to share photos, videos, documents, calendars, contacts and more. And you don’t even need Wi-Fi or a cellular signal.

Share Big

As much as you like a crowd huddled around admiring your new phone, it won’t be necessary with Samsung Link. Because now, you can play your music, videos and slide shows on any compatible HDTV or computer for all to see. Go big.

Share Photos Instantly

Share Shot lets you share your photos with up to five friends – as you take them. What does this mean? You don’t have to remember to share later; just share on the spot and forget it. Sharing has never been so much fun, so fast or so hassle-free.

Gesture Smarter

The Galaxy S III goes beyond swiping and pinching. Special motion gestures let you do things easier and more intuitively than ever before. For example, to capture a screen shot, just swipe your hand across the screen. To get to the top of a list, just tap the top of your phone. Or if you're texting someone and want to call them, just put the phone to your ear. It doesn’t get any smarter than that.

Simplify any Task

Samsung TecTiles is the short-hand way to operate your Galaxy S III. Just program your “tiles” to automatically handle repetitive actions, like changing settings or performing certain tasks. After that, all you’ll need is a simple tap of your phone. It can launch apps, connect you to Facebook or Twitter or share a contact with any NFC-enabled phone.

Memories in a Moment

The Galaxy S III is as powerful as it is stylish. For starters, the camera has 8.0 megapixels and absolutely zero shutter lag, so you can catch memories the moment you press the shutter. Want more- Take up to 20 continuous shots in seconds with Burst Shot. The front-facing camera even has a full 1.9 megapixels, so you can get yourself into the HD action.

Picture-in-Everything

The display is so bright and beautiful on the Galaxy S III, you won’t ever want to stop watching. With Pop Up Play, you won’t have to. It’s a picture-in-picture feature that lets you continue to watch your HD videos while you surf the web or check your email. It’s multitasking to the max.

Powerful Hardware and Software

The Galaxy S III gives you powerful hardware and software. First of all, there’s a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor to make sure everything works quickly and smoothly. Second of all, there’s the Android 4.1, Jelly Bean platform. It’s great for everything you need.

First of all, I'd like to thank Amazon because they, for some miraculous reason, sold me this phone brand new for $317. How, I don't know, considering retail on Virgin's website is $399. The point I'm trying to get across is if Amazon drops the price of this phone substantially, believe that it is no scam. It's just flat-out generosity.

Now, on to the phone.

Even though I had large savings on this device, it is well worth it even if you pay full price. I came from an HTC Evo 3D which I thought was a fantastic, capable device, but there truly is a difference between a flagship and non-flagship. The Evo had great specs, despite being non-flagship, both on paper and performance-wise, and on a scale of 1 to 10, I would gladly put it at an 8.5 or 9. However, this Galaxy is a 12 on that same scale. It really stands out as a true flagship because of its performance and build quality. This phone is plastic vs. the Evo's half metal/half rubberized plastic build but I still appreciate the Galaxy's build quality more. The phrase, "you get what you pay for" could never be more true than here. This phone is unparalleled on the Virgin selection, as of the time of this review. I can only see it bested by the Galaxy S4 or Note 2, but surprisingly, not by much. Plus, let's remember this is a no-contract device on a $35/month plan. Unbeatable.

The Processor

This Galaxy is not the Galaxy S3 i9300 version (international quad-core 1.4GHz version, 1GB RAM). This is the US version (dual core 1.5GHz version, 2GB RAM). I haven't had the international version so I can't make a comparison, but I can say that this processor is extremely capable, unsurprisingly. You will not notice lag, even if you intentionally open a lot of apps to test its performance.

So since this ad listing is for the Galaxy S3 on Virgin Mobile, I am going to rate the phone and the provider. I moved to Virgin from Verizon, tired of paying $$$$ for data, messaging, and minutes (which I hardly use). The $35 plan with Virgin is great, 300 minutes (more than enough for me) with unlimited data and messaging. I was skeptical at first, but now I am a believer. Since Virgin uses the Sprint towers, I get reception in all the same places my Verizon phone would, granted I don't have 4G in the same spots, but I hardly used 4G before because it killed my battery life. If you're thinking of switching to Virgin, I say give it a shot.

On to the phone, the Galaxy S3. Awesome. I upgraded from an HTC Rezound which was a great phone when released, but it started showing its age. Granted the S3 was released some time ago as well, and the new S4 is available, but not on Virgin. For my uses and purposes, the S3 works well. The AMOLED screen is vibrant and crisp, the speaker is great, the phone feels solid (for plastic), and the battery life is decent enough. I can get about 16 hours of heavy use out of it before it dies (messaging, internet, streaming, gaming, etc). If I don't use the phone much during the day, the battery last all day, and then some. The Virgin model comes with a lot of unneeded apps which can't be deleted, but that is to be expected. That said, the "bloat ware" was much less than what Verizon forces on their customers. I haven't encountered any glaring issues with the phone, but will update if I do. So far, 5 stars for Virgin and the Galaxy S3.

I really like this phone and was choosing between this and the HTC One SV 4LTE. Even though that this phone is considerably more than the HTC, I still went for it. I am upgrading from a Samsung Galaxy Prevail (It was the first touch screen Android Smartphone that Boost offered in my market). So of course the difference is huge. But I am extremely satisfied with this phone. I mainly chose this one for the screen size (bigger) and it's 8mp(bigger) camera instead of the 5mp that HTC offers and the fact that the Samsung has twice the RAM (2gb vs 1gb)and twice the ROM (16gb vs 8gb) that the HTC offers and a higher dual core processor speed (1.5ghz vs 1.2ghz. Plus everybody that I know, and I mean everybody that I know (100% of them), that has a Samsung Galaxy sIII simply just loves their phone and I have not heard even one complaint of the 15 people or so that I know own one(on different cell providers). However if Samsung had made this phone flash player capable I would have no quibbles. That fact is though, I have not needed it anyway. On the downside this phone does burn up some battery but then I've been playing video and using the battery like crazy since I've had it without one single freeze I might add or without having to download even an app. But the HTC offer's incredible battery life that at this stage I'd say it's a willing trade off for me. If you are pinching pennies this is probably not the phone for you. However if you want the best that Boost currently has to offer, then here it is.

The Samsung Galaxy S III for Virgin Mobile is quite possibly the best deal on a no-contract, full featured, Android smartphone. It's been on the market awhile, but with NFC, a gorgeous screen and the update to Android 4.4.2 right out of the box, it holds up nicely to the Samsung Galaxy IV (and V if you don't count that waterproofing thing).

VIRGIN MOBILE BEYOND TALK & PHONE SWAP:

The Virgin Mobile Beyond Talk plans are fantastic, and if you have 4G LTE coverage available, this phone will automatically boost to that speed when using data from the default 3G.

I pay $30 a month (they take off $5 per month if you have a credit card on file) for 300 minutes, unlimited text and data (throttling the data if you go over whatever limit they are imposing at the time).

I noted that when I did the `swap phone' thing on VM's site (go to your account and `swap phones' is on the right hand side), my Samsung was activated in minutes with a new 300 minutes, even though the iPhone 4S which I'd been using previously had only 7 minutes left on its monthly allotment. I guess if you swap phones, you get a renewal of your monthly plan? They didn't charge me again, so I guess that's the deal. Nice!

THE PHONE:

Switching from the Apple iPhone 4S mobile phone 16Gb Black MD865LL/A - Virgin Mobile with a battery case to this phone with an Otterbox Defender case on it, was a bit of a bummer for battery life. Even after a full charge, the Samsung's battery life starts to immediately drop. I've set everything to minimize battery use, but still it's much less efficient than the iPhone - even without a battery case.
