The Galaxy Note 3 features a wider 5.7-inch Full HD 1080p Super AMOLED display, yet it's slimmer and lighter than its predecessor (8.3mm and 5.93 ounces, respectively) and has a more powerful and longer lasting 3200 mAh battery. It's also equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with Smart Stabilization and an improved LED flash to help you capture every visual story in your life -- even in low light and active situations.

Running the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) operating system, the Galaxy Note 3 is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor. It features 32 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded using optional microSD memory cards up to 64 GB.

AT&T's 4G Network

AT&T boasts the largest 4G mobile broadband network in the United States, covering more than 292 million people with a combination of two layers of 4G technology: the 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) network and an older technology called HSPA+ that delivers near-4G speeds. AT&T's 4G LTE network is currently live in 261 markets across the U.S. (as of May, 2013) with more markets continually being added. AT&T expects to cover 300 million people with its 4G LTE network by the end of 2014.

With 4G LTE technology, you'll get mobile Internet speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G, enabling you to upload a photo in 6 seconds, download a song in 4 seconds, and download HD movies in minutes and apps almost instantly. You can expect average download data rates of 13 megabits per second (Mbps) and 6 Mbps for uploads in real-world, loaded network environments.

If you are not in an area served by 4G LTE, you'll be able to connect to AT&T's HSPA+ enhanced backhaul network, which delivers speeds up to 4x faster than AT&T's HSPA 3G network. With the combination of 4G LTE and HSPA+, you'll enjoy higher data speed averages than other networks.

In areas where either AT&T's 3G or 4G network is not available, you'll continue to receive service on the AT&T EDGE network, which offers availability in more than 13,000 US cities and along some 40,000 miles of major highways.

Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) OS

An even sweeter Jelly Bean, the Android 4.3 operating system's Android 4.3's new restricted profiles feature can be used to limit access to apps and content -- at home with your family and at work. Fast, fluid, and smooth, Android 4.3 offers effortless movement between home screens -- like turning the pages of a book. And it includes faster orientation changes, quicker switching between recent apps, and smoother and more consistent rendering throughout your mobile device.

Browse and download thousands of free and paid apps from around the world via Google Play or the Amazon Appstore for Android.

Restricted Profiles. Put your tablet into a mode with limited access to apps and content. For example, a parent can set up profiles for each family member, and a business manager can set up profiles that keep employees focused on work.

Built-in Security Protection. Android is designed to keep you and your data safe. Every app runs in its own sandbox, a secure space isolated from other apps. And whenever you download an app, Android can automatically scan it for viruses, checking apps against a database maintained by Google.

Expandable, Actionable Notifications. Android has always put you in control when it comes to staying notified and connected. Just swipe down from the top of the screen to see all your notifications in one place. Late for a meeting or missed a call? Take action in an instant directly from the notifications shade.

Smooth Operator. More reactive and uniform touch responses mean you can almost feel the pixels beneath as your finger moves across the screen. .

Live in the Now. With Google Now, you get the right information at just the right time -- before you even ask. It can tell you today's weather before you start your day, or when the next train will arrive as you're standing on the platform. .

Smarter Keyboard with Gesture Typing. Just glide your finger over the letters you want to type, and lift after each word. You don't have to worry about spaces because they're added automatically for you.

Beam Photos and Videos. With Android Beam, you can easily share your photos and videos.

5.0 out of 5 stars Samsung got it right this time October 5, 2013
I was the first in Texas to purchase the Samsung Galaxy Note (the first Note) when it came out. I skipped the Note 2 because it seemed like there was not a lot changed and the Note 2 had some things missing, but when the Note 3 came out, I knew that the phone was going to be great. I was not the first person to get one, but I did get one within an hour of the store opening

I really like the Google system of being able to sync your contacts and calendar with your android phone. This made changing phones so much easier. Within a few minutes of actually receiving the phone I had my contacts and calendar loaded up and ready to go.

The "S" pen is alright. When you take out the pen, a small menu comes up at the bottom right of the screen that let's you pick from an assortment of apps like launching the S-note feature or searching for content on your phone. With my old phone, I took out the pen, then had to find and launch the S-note app and then take the note. This little pop up window is handy, but I really doubt if peole will purchase the phone just for this option.

The screen on this phone is amazing. The phone has 388 ppi. The numbers mean little not me, but the screen is very easy to look at. Letters in documents are crisp, pictures have sharp edges with no blur in them. The colors looks very good... I think (I am color blind, like colors matter to me... LOL)

The camera does a pretty good job. In some test photos that I have taken the phone is slow to focus, so the ability to take the phone out of a pocket to get the spontaneous quick shot is not there, but the camera does take some really nice pictures. The video portion of the camera is where things start to fall apart. The video camera is not the greatest as far as lighting goes.

5.0 out of 5 stars My perfect phone October 4, 2013
I've been a fan of the bigger sized phones for some time and Samsung has been paving the way in terms of quality large phones. I remember when I had the 4.5in screened Samsung Infuse and it was considered large. I've had a Note and Note 2 and loved both. Note 3 continues the tradition of keeping everything that worked, improving where needed, and adding features I wouldn't have even thought to ask. So many of the little annoyances I had with my Note 2 have been addressed. Its clear they put a lot of thought into finding out what people loved and wanted changed.

When I first held the phone I fell in love. The form factor is just great and the screen is a noticeable jump up. That's saying something when the Note 2 already had a stellar screen resolution. I don't feel the need to have this one in a case. The slippery back of the Note 2 required a case as I dropped it a couple times when holding it bare.

Rather than go on feature by feature I'll suffice to say everything feels like a great and noticeable improvement. S-pen, camera, screen, on and on its the phone I loved before but better in every way I could have asked for. I've tried dozens of smartphones over the past 5 years. The Note 2 was the first one I actually held onto for a year. I easily see myself holding onto the 3 that much or longer (depending on when they bring out a 4th ;) ).

I highly recommend this phone.

*Update a week in. I'm still just as impressed with this phone if not more so. The biggest thing I've found since my review is how much battery this phone offers. The battery size is insignificantly larger than the Note 2 which means they really improved the performance greatly to have increased battery efficiency this much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best cell phone on the planet! October 15, 2013
By FALCON
[Forget those silly complaints about region lock. They do not affect 99.99% of users and no USA carriers. The N9000 is the European phone, and gets setup for the carrier used in the European country where you activate the phone. Period. US users need to get the phone for their respective carrier which changes the last digit of the number. It's that simple. Amazon makes both available. I teach overseas yearly. I keep my phone in airplane mode and use Wi-Fi or get a cheap phone card.]

First, I am not affiliated with Samsung in any way, nor do I work for a cell phone store. I am a writer though.
Secondly, I hate long reviews with the poster just reports the specs you already have. Rather, these comments show why the Galaxy Note 3 is more technologically advanced, and more phone for your money, compared to the many good phones on the market today. As for those phones that only show an app screen. I call them cave phones.

1. The beautiful 5.7" Super Amoled HD display has a "Wow!" factor. Everything is crisp and clear with a resolution of 1920 x 1080P, 386 PPI. Despite a few good contenders, no phone on the market can match the combination of vibrant color, and deep blacks. Check it out for yourself. For those who prefer drab, you can even adjust color intensity and contrast.
Is this practical? You bet.
