If you have a Galaxy S III this book is not for you. I incorrectly assumed this covered all Samsung S phones - my fault

Fills in the specific operation steps not given with the unit purchase. Makes unit much more utilitarian. Apparently Samsung believes every purchaser of their smart phones is an IT tech at birth, which in my case definitely isn't so. Consequently, I now have a fighting chance to understand and get the best use out of my Samsung Vibrant smart phone.

I ordered this book because I wanted to be able to use the full potential of the phone. Reading about it on the Internet is not the same as being able to look up something in the book. It meets my expectations and makes using the phone much easier.

Until I bought this book, I dreaded using my Samsung Galaxy S Epic Touch. Initially, using it was an exercise in frustration. The phone is so sophisticated, I had trouble executing tasks that should have been simple. Sprint's online so-called "help" was useless. I was getting plenty of practice using my cuss words. Then I stumbled across this book and browsed it in a brick-and-mortar bookstore. Liked what I saw so I ordered it from Amazon.

"Samsung Galaxy S for Dummies" has a ton of useful tips and clear, easy-to-read information. The only negative is many of the things I try to look up are not there, and some explanations are incomplete. One example: You can set your phone to send automatic text message when you can't answer. The TM will say something like, "I'm in the movies" or "I'm driving. Please call later." BUT, the book doesn't explain how to activate this feature.

In the authors' defense, I'm guessing this phone's capabilities are too vast for any reasonable-sized book to cover comprehensively. Also, limitations might be because each carrier and manufacturer has its own proprietary features and varying methods. That said, "Samsung Galaxy S For Dummies" is a handy reference and learning tool. I am deeply grateful to authors Lowe and Williams for providing for me a working knowledge, and some degree of expertise, with this complex instrument. Only time and practice can expand my abilities, but they've given me an excellent jump-start--and kept me from hurling the phone across the room.

This book really helped me with my new phone. I am still using it on and off, because there is so much to learn. The manufacturer of the phone gives you a
little pamphlet, not good enough for all the features.

Great book. Like the clear, non-techie way it is written. Easy to follow instructions and diagrams really help navigate this new phone. I'm an over 60 non-techie who still hasn't set my VCR clock(!) so you can take it to the bank....this book will help explain alot.
