Product Description

This is a lightly used Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition. I was exploring the Android universe with this phone for awhile, but was planning to sell it and get another this fall. I take amazing care of all my tech gadgets, and this one is no exception.

Apparently if you want to buy a google edition of Galaxy S4, this is not the best price and play to shop. You would go to google play store to buy at the "right" price. For whatever the reason people who bought this phone, it is for the simplicity of the google native android and faster OS upgrade due to it is a "google edition".

Besides the "native android" part, I bought this phone mostly for its replaceable battery and extended SD card. These two features are missing from almost all later makes of smartphone. Replace the thin battery that comes with the phone by a off-market thicker battery with higher capacity is a trade off that I prefer which can significantly increase how extensive the phone can be used on a daily basis. After all, the "mobile" part of the mobile phone is more impeded by how frequent the phone is in charging than how "thick" it is. Therefore this phone triumph Nexus 5 at a fundamental benefit, the mobility.

However, beware this phone with all its promises has a major flaw that contradicts advertising, the newer google native android 4.3 and 4.4 though both are available to this phone as soon as released, disabled the extended SD card from writing file, essentially makes the 2nd most desirable feature of this phone useless.

Will Samsung and Google fix this problem in the future? I highly doubt it given the fact this problem has persisted through out two major OS releases. While complaints widely made in both google play store and android online community, there has been no feedback from either Google or Samsung.

Speculatively, this could be very well be a reflex of google's "cloud everything" push with Samsung's compromise to comply in a behind doors deal.

Man, don't buy this! Buy a regular S4 and install the Google Edition ROM on it! You will be saving more than 300$

Putting Stock Android "The Nexus experience" "Pure Google" on this device, makes it leave its competitors struggling to catch up.
This phone has processors capabilities that most cheap LAPTOPS Dont have

Build Quality:
My first reaction was that its really bad. but theres a reason its made out of plastic. if the cover was made out of metal, they wouldnt be able to house a 1) microSDXC Card Slot, 2) An internal SIM 3) a Massive 2600 maH battery.
I still dislike the build quality, but I got used to it.
The aluminum band around the device gives it a sort of "superiour" feel, and makes you want to favor this phone over other samsung phones, but its ok in my opinion. Theres really only 4 buttons on the entire phone.
-Home
-Power
-Volume up
-Volume down

The buttons feel somewhat plasticky and loose, and so I decided to use only one button: The home button.

Software:
I love Pure Google but
There is a major loss of features when stock android is installed on here, because samsung intended this phone for the average consumer, who was attracted to weird things like air gestures, and since Samsung base software skin is gone, all those features are gone too. This might make the phone insanely fast, and smooth, but also it makes it feels empty, and strange.
Samsung is not known for the clean interface of stock android. they add their own knickknacks and strange features that not everybody necessarily needs or wants.

Hardware:
Samsung octo-core processor 1.9 GHz with overclocking to 2.3
441 Pixels per inch
dual mics
13 Megapixel Camera with ultra bright LED Flash
front facing 2.0 MP Camera
rear facing grille speaker

Overall, I just wish this phone was better.

Needs to drop the price before becoming recommended strongly

It's easy. Go to Google and purchase the phone off the play store and save yourself $200. There is no difference between this phone and the one on Google play.
