If you're thinking about replacing a 32- to 36-inch direct view TV in a moderately sized room, take a look at the HD-ready Samsung HC-R4355W 43-inch CRT rear-projection tabletop TV. You'll get an amazingly sharp picture thanks to several Samsung innovations, including the RealFlect video system (driving high contrast, robust colors) and the HD Fine Pitch Screen (0.52mm), which brings out fine image detail and improves picture clarity especially when viewing higher definition video sources like DVD and HDTV. It has a built-in 181-chanel NTSC tuner for standard broadcasts, as well as a built-in HD/Digital tuner (ATSC/NTSC).

The HC-R4355W features a widescreen picture aspect ratio (16:9; standard TVs have a 4:3 aspect ratio), which is the ideal screen format for viewing widescreen video from DVD players and the growing availability of broadcast programming off digital HDTV tuners (HD content is always widescreen), cable boxes and satellite receivers. You can choose the perfect aspect ratio for what you're watching with five picture format sizes: Wide, Panorama, Zoom 1, Zoom 2 or Normal.

The 3D digital comb filter helps reduce video noise by comparing each horizontal scanning line with the lines above and below and with the corresponding line on the previous subsequent video frames. The 3:2 pulldown cinema video processing feature detects and compensates film--which is shot at 24 frames per second (fps) compared with video's 30 fps rate--to video for a smooth theater-like experience at home. With the single push of a button, the Auto Self Focus system adjusts and improves picture focus. The Velocity Scan Modulation feature sharply defines edges and outlines by controlling the speed of transitions between the black and white portions of the signal.

The 30-watt stereo audio system (two 15-watt speakers) delivers ample sound for sports and movies. The BBE High Definition Sound Processing circuit adjusts the phase relationships of the low, mid and high frequencies and the augmentation of the higher and lower frequencies. It features the following video and audio connections:

First let me tell you I already own a Samsung 50" DLP pedestal (HL-P5085W)and a Samsung World Cel phone. Both products are outstanding and never had any problems. I ordered this TV on November 19, 2005. I finlly received it on 12/05. There was no shipping damage and all looked good.

However after I pluged it in the TV will (still) turn on. The LED in the front starts to blink and then turns itself off. I contated both Amazon and Samsung on 12/06/05.

Amazon stated it is not there problem and good luck with your TV. (I call it a boat anchor)

After the first 9 days of talking (Some times yelling) Samsung they could not get anyone to fix my TV. I live more than 50 miles away from the closest authorized repair center, and they would not approve the mileage charge to come to my house. Mind you I live in a relatively large city in northern Ca. On day 9 I was told that my issues have been escalated to the executive support center and they will contact me in 1 to 2 days. Well on day 3 Still not receiving a call, I called again and was transfer to that executive department. Thats were the woman (Grace) told me ( in more PC terms) that I was an idiot for buying a TV on line. After confirming that Amazon WAS an authorized reseller of Samsung TVs, why she would make such a statement. No answer. She (Grace) promised to call me back in 10 min. with a resolution to my problem. Well a day and a half later I called back to find out why Grace did not call me back in 10 min. as promised. Day 14 called the support center again the first guy hung up on me, however the second time I ASK TO BE TRANSFERED TO THE NATIONAL SUPPORT CENTER. Where someone had some authority to approve the repair and travel cost to my home.

Day 19 Repair center still waiting on parts from Samsung to fix what I now consider my Brand New B STOCK TV.

So I can't really give a review of this Samsung TV just yet.
