1.0 out of 5 stars LIGHT ENGINE IS A PROBLEM, January 7, 2008
This review is from: Samsung HL-R6168W 61" 1080p Widescreen HDTV with Digital Cable Ready Tuner (Electronics)
Yes it sure is a beautiful picture. I just can not recommend it when after 2 years and 3 months the light engine $800 needs to be replaced. My mother bought the same exact TV on the same date and she had to replace her light engine three months ago. And Samsung stands behind their one year warranty. Ridiculous.

4.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this DLP TV, January 3, 2007

This review is from: Samsung HL-R6168W 61" 1080p Widescreen HDTV with Digital Cable Ready Tuner (Electronics)
This has a great picture!

Minor (why 4 of 5 stars):

- 1080p accepted only on VGA... not on HDMIs

- Video games over RCA (red/white/yellow) have a DEFINITE delay... was known before purchasing (but I don't play games on it): really bad with PSOne... Xbox 360 over component wasn't obviously bad to me. NOTE: This video game lag is supposed to have been addressed in the next year's line of Sammy DLPs

- Light Engine had to be replaced (while under warranty (at week 50 of 1 yr. parts/labor) - original had only ~1600 hours on it (way less then even the bulb is expected to last), so problem is thought to be "just" a defective engine (appeared as though someone was peeling up the back of the screen from one of the corners... screen wasn't dead there... just much, much darker)

Samsung customer service is a 6 out of 5 stars! Before even discussing the problem, they bumped my 1 yr parts/labor an extra 3 months... repairman was there THAT DAY, engine replaced... no dollar amount was even seen by me.

I can't imagine ever wanting to go to a football game live anymore if I'm going to be able to watch it in HD on this screen.

Recommened add-ons:

- upconverting DVD player: OPPO OPDV971H
