What Other Items Do Customers Buy After Viewing This Item?
I had a Hitachi Travelstar installed on my laptop. The other day I dropped it and crashed the hard-drive. I bought this Samsung HDD not knowing it is PATA (was not enough information available from Amazon). Once arrived, I was skeptical that it would work with IDE port. Sure enough, it is compatible and works fine. It does not only work fine, it works better than the older Travelstar HDD. It is quieter and seems to be faster. I know IDE and ATA drives are being phased out by new SATA drives, but for the people - like me - stuck with older computers, this is the best replacement of technology and best value for the money.

This hard drive brought my old Dell Inspiron 2200 back to life. It is incredible how fast it operates. My laptop use to boot in 1 minute 53 seconds using XP Home. It now boots in 53 seconds period. It is super quiet and runs like a champ. It runs cooler than the Hitachi that came with the Dell. I bought it here one month ago and have no regrets. I had bad luck with two Western Digital drives locking up after about 3 months of use. These drives that are IEDE/ATA are getting harder and harder to find now that the switch to SATA has happened. I may just get another to hang on to for safety sake. I am trying to make this old Dell last until MS stops supporting XP, which I believe will be some time in 2014. Hope this helps someone chose an awesome product.

Replaced the original Sony VAIO TXN27N CD/DVD drive with this hard drive using the newmodeUS.com Optical Bay Hard Drive Caddy (OBHD9-PATA-B), Black, 9.5mm. I had to file 2 slots on one side to attach the CD/DVD mount to the hard drive caddy. This hard drive is much faster than the original 4200rpm 1.8" hard drive and works great.

My laptop is 7 years old and the 40GB (partitioned) hard drive was just not adequate. The laptop has never failed, and I couldn't see replacing a functioning computer. The Samsung Mobile PATA Spinpoint M5P 160 GB bare HDD has nicely provided the necessary space that was lacking on my origional hard drive. Long live my dinosaur! YEAH!

I have ordered 3 of these hard drives thru the years. All 3 are still going strong! It's quiet, and quick. The price is right, and for those with the older laptops, it's a great way to upgrade your drive.

If you need an Ide hard drive for your notebook this PATA one will fit perfectly. And it works faster then original IDEs. I have installed it in my old Gateway 6348 notebook with ide slot and it have been working just great.

These are possibly (if not) the fastest laptop hard drives made of the IDE era (of this speed and certainly this price range). I still have a couple in the wrapper but the 2 I used have been good.

Helped a friend order and install this drive to replace a dying drive inside her 5 year old laptop. Because the laptop is PATA, I chose this drive based on benchmark results and glowing reviews from [...].
This drive is simply phenomenal if you're limited to the older PATA interface! Boot and shut down times were cut in half on XP SP3 and the system feels much snappier, overall. The dense single-platter design really helps performance while minimizing noise and heat.
This drive will outperform 7200rpm PATA drives. The only other faster PATA notebook drive is the larger and more expensive Western Digital 320gb (also 160gb per platter). Buy the HM160HC with confidence!
