5.0 out of 5 stars Great Choice!
I put in a lot of research and bought the BD-7200 as soon as it was available. There is not another product out there that has the same features in such an attractive, compact package. Wireless Netflix, Ipod, Blu Ray w/ quick load times...The sound is good but not quite as powerful or encompassing as a true 7.1 or 5.1 system. If you have a small space or simply don't like...

Okay, so first lets start with what has not been listed in the product listing:
Blu-ray Profile 2.0 compliant for playback of BD Live material on compatible discs(needs internet connection)
Upconverts DVDs selectable 480i/480p/720p/1080i/1080p output via HDMI
Plays Blu-ray discs, DVD-Video discs, DVD-RAM, DVD-Rs, DVD-RWs, DVD+Rs, & DVD+RWs
Plays CDs, audio CD-Rs, CD-RWs, CD+Rs, CD+RWs, & MP3 CDs
Plays digital picture CDs (JPEG) and DivX videos
Built-in decoding for Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital True HD, DTS, and DTS-HD Master Audio (No DTS ES Discrete 6.1
DTS 96/24 DTS Neo 6)
3-channel amplifier (133 watts x 2 for front speakers, 134 watts for subwoofer)
Has a USB port for connecting an optional thumb drive or hard drive
Wi-Fi capable (needs optional USB adapter) and Ethernet port
Built-in support for Netflix movie and Pandora music services (you need to subscribe)
Has built-in iPod dock with audio, video, and iPhone support
Bluetooth-enabled (listen to your TV with a wireless Bluetooth headset)
No component or composite inputs
No coax input
No XM or AM radio

So, with all of these features, I can tell you that this is ok if you have a small space and no children. The finish is very glossy and shows every bit of dust and fingerprints and likely will easily scratch. The sound is a bit lacking when compared to a a true 7.1 system with a good (Onkyo) receiver. So, even though this decodes DTS-HD as well as DD True HD, it's kind of useless with this system. While it will decode those, you will not really get to appreciate it. Also, the sub is a bit weak. You have a 3 channel amp to run 2 speakers and the sub. So, if you simply do not have the room and you have to worry about neighbors, this is an okay system. I was thinking about giving this 4 stars, but after all, you can do better without spending that much more.

Don't get me wrong the sound is good, but it's not surround sound. I've had this system for several months now, I've watched a lot of movies, and maybe it's me, but in reading the product description from the manufacturer, this system, using 2.1 channel, is supposed to simulate 5.1 surround sound. I think it should do that better then it does, especially for the price of the system. If you want surround sound, this ain't it. If you want easier setup and a system that sounds good loud, this might work for you. I don't recommend it.

Despite the hype (in Samsung's printed and online materials), this system DOES NOT support YouTube or Blockbuster On Demand. Samsung flat out lied about this, and their tech support claims a firmware upgrade will address this, but the system's already been discontinued. However, Netflix and Pandora work quite well. Another issue is that using the optical connection from my Time Warner cable box has some decoding issues, so that when you pause the DVR, the audio defaults to a presumably 5.1 audio setting - you can't hear the dialogue, but you can hear the music and FX. A button push (V-Sound or DSP) on the remote cures this, but it's a hassle doing it every time you want to get up to grab a snack (which in my case is frequently). Sound quality at low volume lacks depth and shape, but higher volumes work better. I use it to listen to my iPod, but playlists are a must because the navigation is slow. Even with Anynet+ getting everything to work together seamlessly is cumbersome and lame. Do not buy this system - I am replacing mine!

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid, April 10, 2010
This review is from: Samsung HT-BD7200 Bluetooth Speaker Bar Home Theater System (Black) (Electronics)
This unit was purchased new and did not work out of the box. I sent it back to Samsung and got it back about 3 weeks later. 6 months went by and it started having trouble loading and reading cd/dvd and bluray discs. It also has sound interruptions while watching hd tv. I sent it back again and within a week of getting it back from Samsung, the same problems exist. Besides the reliability issues, the sound is just ok and it is not a very user friendly unit. I will never buy Samsung again as I have also had a vcr and television of theirs break within the first year of buying them. I don't know why I thought this time would be different.

There was not much feedback on this product before I purchased it.I have a living room, 24x20 and was not happy with the sound. I also sit about 12 feet from the TV. I had to turn it up to almost max to hear decent sound.

Glad I did it. 2 days old and im very pleased with my choice

Now working on hiding the speaker wires, once thats done I will be kicking back.

3.0 out of 5 stars Review of HT-BD7200, December 21, 2011
This review is from: Samsung HT-BD7200 Bluetooth Speaker Bar Home Theater System (Black) (Electronics)
At my job we got two of these systems. The sound quality is good. It is very easy to use. However, in the beggining I found a kind of "pausing" problem while there is DVD playback. I contacted samsung by the chatting system and they told me to reset the player while it is ON by pressing the STOP button for 10 seconds. I must mention that before doing this I downloaded the latest firmware to a USB drive and installed it from that drive. Now, I see no problems. Good luck

1.0 out of 5 stars Compatibility Issues and playback jumps, October 15, 2011
This review is from: Samsung HT-BD7200 Bluetooth Speaker Bar Home Theater System (Black) (Electronics)
I've owned this player for more than 18 months. It looks great, and the sound is OK. That's about it. I have lots of other Samsung gear including an LED TV, Laptop and Galaxy Tab which all look great, but all have issues. The main issues I have is that DVD playback skips during playback - sometimes skipping 30 or 40 mins of a movie! I have a disc cleaner that kind of helps, but hasn't solved it. While I was still in 12 month warranty I tried to get this fixed, but when Samsung wants to charge you $70 to return the unit with a disclaimer saying - we do not guarantee fixing it - it's not a surprise I chose not too. Now the big issue is that none of the Disney Diamond Edition Blu-Rays will play on this system. Shame on Disney for putting something on the disc that creates compatibility issues, but Samsung really needs to be on top of this stuff. Latest firmware update didn't help. At this moment I have made a promise to myself that unless this compatibility issue is solved within 4 months I'm never going to buy anything samsung again.

PRODUCT MANAGEMENT TEAM - take note : Selling stuff that looks good but doesn't work reliably will reduce brand loyalty and drive customers away. Focus on a lower number of high quality, highly reliable products, rather than numerous SKUs all with problems. I want to love you Samsung, but you make it so difficult! And you are 4 months from loosing a once loyal customer.

--- Update Oct 21, 2011 ---
Last night I took the whole thing apart. I finally got down to the blu-ray player. I couldn't take of the final protective case around the blu-ray lens itself, but there was an opening that made it possible to get a q-tip onto the lens. I used 91% Isopropyl Alcohol that I got from Walgreens with some q-tips I had in the house. Gently cleaned both optical lenses (there are two next to each other - I guess one for DVD and the other for blu-ray) using gental circular motions. Now the player is working very well, without skiping. Unfortunately I still have the compatibility issue with the Disney disks so still waiting on Samsung for an update to this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad starter kit, August 2, 2010

This review is from: Samsung HT-BD7200 Bluetooth Speaker Bar Home Theater System (Black) (Electronics)
This is the first home theater I have bought.

It sounds great, which I suppose is the point of they system.

However, it can be tricky to get the hang of the remote. Changing between functions is not very intuitive. If you have a disc in the tray, you cannot access any of the other functions, like the iPod or Pandora, without first taking out the disc.

Also, the wireless remote speaker receiver is very loud. Sounds sort of like a dishwasher.
