Surprised it works so well!, September 23, 2004
This review is from: Samsung HT-DB390TH Wireless Home Theater System (Electronics)
I was skeptic when I bought DB390 because wireless rear speakers is a new technology implementation using bluetooth. I was pleasantly surprised when it took me little effort to set it up following the manual and the wireless receiver works well.
My main concern was that I have 802.11b/g router that uses 2.4Ghz also, and I have a wireless bluetooth headset, but so far everything works great! I haven't had any issue when using all my devices (wireless network, DB390, and headset) at the same time!

Great system with many features, August 12, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Samsung HT-DB390TH Wireless Home Theater System (Electronics)
Overall I think this system is very good. It produces great sound for small living rooms. The wireless tower didn't work when I hooked it up, but if you read the manual it clearly states that there's a reset button on the back of the tower and you must press it a couple of times if the tower does not comunicate with the reciever. I did this and everything works great now. I have had no problem with the wireless speakers picking up other signals and they sound just as clear as the front wired speakers. If you want wireless and don't want to spend too much, then you can't go wrong with this system.

Very Good Sound; Easy to Install & Setup, August 3, 2004
This review is from: Samsung HT-DB390TH Wireless Home Theater System (Electronics)
Have had this system for a month, and am very pleased with it. The sound when watching DVD movies is greatly improved from my former sound source, a JVC stereo system. CD music also sounds very good.
This is the first home theater system I set up, but that went smoothly following the Instruction Manual. What sold me on this system is not having to run wires to the rear speakers. That was a real plus for me, and it works well.

Wireless Problems, May 17, 2005
This review is from: Samsung HT-DB390TH Wireless Home Theater System (Electronics)
Well the setup was easy.
And the sound is nice.
And it works...
except that when the unit is turned on and the dvd player is sending a signal to the rear satellite speakers, my wireless internet it interrupted.
So I cannot browse the internet and watch a dvd simultaneously. This is annoying.
A reviewer before me mentioned that he was concerned about having this same problem, but did not encounter it. I wish I knew how he got around this dilemma. As the reviewer before me, I am also using a 802.11b/g router, which uses a frequency of 2.4GHz (the same as the dvd player).
I gave the unit three stars because, beyond the internet disruption, it works well. I'd give it four if I could figure out a way around the problem. But I'd only give it 5 stars if the dvd player served cocktails as well.
If anyone knows of how to remedy the problem I'm experiencing, please leave a review with detailed instructions. Cheers!

Samsung-Bad!!!, March 7, 2005
This review is from: Samsung HT-DB390TH Wireless Home Theater System (Electronics)
I purchased a Samsung HDTS690 to go with my new wide television. Connection was easy and everything was color-coded so anyone could hook it up. But that was all that was easy.
The setup was terrible! Tha manual is absolutley NO HELP AT ALL.
There is no systematic procedure for setting all the parameters to make the thing work. I had it cabled correctly (I have been an electronics tech for 40 years), but still got no audio. I had to call Samsung to get directions on what how to set the receiver to get sound (nothing in the users manual said anything about it). Then, I got sound, but I could not control it (volume stayed the same all the time). I had to call Samsung again to find out how to set the remote so the volume buttons worked! Once that was solved, then the tone-test for the speakers would not work. I called Samsung again, and was finally told they, too had to rely on the book and it didn't always have the right answer.
I returned the system to the store today and got my money back.
Don't buy this system unless you are prepared to stay on the phone with the support people (they're great!).

Out of the Box the Wireless doesn't work, June 8, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Samsung HT-DB390TH Wireless Home Theater System (Electronics)
I purchased this system because of the wireless capabilities, well right out of the box the wireless tower does not work. Not a good start! I will be calling support today. To be continued. Well strike two and I'm done. I sent the first one back because the wireless tower did not work right out of the box. They sent me another one, and guess what? It didn't work either. When I talked to Samsung support they sounded as if this was happening a lot? I think they need to work the bugs out before they ship the product out.
