Bought this speaker set, solely for the speakers, as I was looking for smaller speakers to put in my basement. I had looked at various other speakers (Polk, Sony, Bose) and even tested them all out in store. These speakers were able to handle a higher volume without any noticeable struggle. (Ended up avoiding the Bose based on price alone).

Set the speakers up my basement and haven't noticed any issues with low or high volume, including regular tv (talk shows) and deep action movies (inception). I may look to purchase a stronger center speaker in the future, but for now this one definitely handles what I need to do.

The Blu-ray player is where this struggles to get 5 stars. But when you are paying like 220 and get a bluray? Cant complain too much. However, the player does not have a "continuation" feature.. meaning if you click back to the bluray home or power off the player, you have to restart the movie from the federal warnings and trailers (very annoying).

Just a heads up, if you are using a larger room like I am, you will need to consider using a receiver, a different bluray player and a new sub. This set up runs the bluray like a receiver and it has the specialized clips for all 6 speakers that connect to the player that wont connect to a receiver. Also, your front 3 speakers only are given about 5/6' of wire and the back two get about 9/10'. My room is both wider and deeper than that, so I have gotten new wires and swapped out the bluray and sub with ones I already had. Note though, given the larger room, these speakers still get the job done.

Ok, this entry level home theater has the basic technology to enjoy current generation video and sound quality. To begin, the design of the player is sleek and is decently sized, the speakers are very good looking too. The materials are very glossy and I love that. I have a problem with the volume keys wich are oversized for convenience BUT, they feel rubish and the design feels kind of out of place with the rest. The unit itself feels made of standard cheap materials to be honest.

Now, when it comes to the user interface, it is standard at best, probably because I am very used to play my Bluray collection on my PS3 and the XMB is very sleek and fast, this one, again, feels rubish and generic. It doesnt really use any Java trick to get smoth animations at all. The internet apps are located at the bottom of the screen and you have to go page by page to the sides see them all and you are unable to locate the most used apps in the first page for easy access. The movie tittle sprite that usually appears on the PS3 XMB is not shown on this player. and for some reason the icon to select the bluray movie is hidden until you press the yellow button on the remote, instead you are offered the options to play music, videos or photos using the online connection or USB. Very impractical taking into consideration this is a BLURAY PLAYER first and foremost.

Now, the most important thing.

Audio:

Side note for reference: (I used to use a 5.1 LOGITECH X-530 unit. The sound is clearer and it has the same bass levels after some minor adjustment then the logitech one. The side speakers were larger thus generating a louer sound but just a minor difference, nothing that cannot be adjusted in the Samsung settings.

Blu ray player works well. It does not have wireless internet access. The labeling should have indicated that it needs to be wired for internet.

This is a pretty nice system for the price. It does not sound like a 1k plus system, with super deep lows and crisp clean mids, but for many this will do, especially in a tight spot. I bought it for my grandmother, who moved into a smaller house, and she loves the size and sound. She says it sounds better than her old old floor speakers. Bottom line, it is a theater system for a small space, and it is easy enough for a grandparent to use.

If your looking for something small but loud enough this is perfect. I have a small house and don't need much but this is more than I expected. My room shakes and I don't even have to turn it up very loud. Love it!!!

First off, I want to start off by saying that I am a huge Samsung products fan, proud owner of one of their LED TV, mobile phone, and tablet. I was hoping that this item would continue my great streak of positive Samsung experiences, boy was I let down.
After I removing the system from the box, configuring it for my environment (to include a firmware upgrade), the awe of enjoyment from my new toy quickly diminished.

The first issue I notice was an inability to program the individual speakers to my liking. Not a huge deal, just an annoyance, considering this is one of the most simplest feature most standard receivers have. This thing had the basic speaker configuration as an ipod from the 90's. Volume up Volume down, do you want to listen in Party mode or Samba?

The second issue I experienced was the flakiness of the pre-installed apps on the device. On more than one occasion, if one was to suddenly change you mind which on whether or not you want to watching the stream the latest available episode of Girls or maybe you were in the mood for The Shield. You mind had to be set prior to pressing "enter". Sudden navigational changes would cause the app to what I like to call "panic" and it would drop you back to the main menu.

This panic leads me to my third and final reason I decided to return this system, the freak'n panics were beyond irritating. On more than one occasion, while streaming a movie (something longer than 30mins), it would just freeze. And by freeze, I mean Blue Screen of Death freeze, the kind where you had to unplug and re-plug in the device just to get it to boot. This happened on multiple occasion, on only during while streaming videos.
