Comment: Repackaged in Samsung box. Says refurbished on it but the most likely it never broke and just was fully tested and repackaged by Samsung themselves. There is a 90 day warranty on it. Thanks

This is a super clear / crisp / warm sounding system. Just perfection. Sure it may lack the deeper warmth of high end all vacuum tube system with specialized speakers the size of your largest pet, but this is just wonderful.

Easy to setup. Enough options for customization. You can hook it up to virtually anything. I've hooked up my computer sound through my video cards HDMI port and it's excellent.

Follow up after few days using the system:

Pros:

Great for movies - has all the newest audio formats for blu ray playback. You really get a great surround sound effect without having to tweak much or missing out on voice or other issue you may have run into before when using component systems.

The vacuum tubes - do provide a warmer sound.

Subwoofer - is great even though it's half the size and weight as my previous one. It's excellent.

Subwoofer strentgh can be adjusted via remote on the fly .. yay.. great feature

Rear speakers - they are tiny - but powerful.

Great for music too, it has 3D effect option that engages your surround sound speakers.

Excellent value for the price. The blu ray player alone is about 100-150. You get 5 speakers and subwoofer.. not to mention the blu ray player is now your amplifier with vacuum tube technology - excellent deal. You'd have to spend a lot more to replicate similar unit.

Cons: (cons is realy a harsh word here, lets just say.. a wish list of adjustments)

The black shiny surface that all the samsung products have nowadays is really a temporary look. It's extemely prone to attracting dust and needs constant care. Perhaps a polished aluminum casing would be much better.

Bottom line: I really love the sound, and that's the idea, right?

I opened the box and began to set everything up. The first thing I encountered was the remote didn't work. I tried all sorts of batteries in it to no avail. Luckily I have a Harmony remote, so I was able to add the device to that (actually a previous model because this one was so new). Later, I called support and they FedExed me a new remote with little effort on my part.

Some things to note:

- The rear speakers do have to plug into a receiver - they aren't standalone. In the product image, it's that skinny box to the right of the actual blu-ray player. This wasn't that big of a deal for me and actually worked out well in my basement with drop ceilings, but I imagine that could break someone's heart if they weren't aware of it.

- The rear speakers have weird mounting holes. So, I purchased some mounting arms from Best Buy that have all sorts of different ways to connect to the speakers. These speakers are set up in a way that made the mounts pretty much impossible to use as intended. There is a happy ending, though - I unscrewed the back of the speaker, drilled through it and attached the mount via nut and bolt. It's actually super sturdy and probably the best way to go about it. (The only way I could find)

- Switching inputs is a pain. This is probably the biggest issue for me. As I mentioned before, I have a Harmony remote. If you haven't used one of these before, you have to set up all your various tasks (Watch TV, Watch DVD, etc) via software and it handles turning everything on, what buttons do what and, of course, which inputs the devices need to be on.

I have had this system for a few days and I can tell you it is great IMHO. The setup was painless, a quick sound test told me that I did everything correctly. I had an LG HTiB before and the difference in sound is like night and day. At times, when a cell phone vibrates in the movie, I thought it was my phone in the room :) I own Galaxy phone and tablet and the "Screen Mirror" function is awesome. I can view everything I am doing on the TV. Tiny photos are now Huge on a 55 inch screen. The interface is not as bad as some people complain. ARC is great if you have an ARC (audio return channel) compatible TV - saves you from having an extra optical cable. I know people complained about source switching, but there is a button TV Sound On/Off, that will switch to D.In so that you can get TV sound instantly and then press Home to get to DVD/BD.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with the system. So far, did not find any major Conns.
On Screen Keyboard is a bit slow (not too much but is slightly noticeable) - not really a Conn.
The disk has a tray and is not a direct load. Not a big deal for me but loading with one hand can be a bit of a pain there. Again, not really a Conn.

If you have the money and this fits your budget look no further. Sound is much better than F5500 :)

For two years I had been without a surround sound, so after careful research I decided on the Bose® CineMate® GS Series II home theatre. I have never been more disappointed in a $600 investment than after I set this up. I returned the Bose system and left with this Samsung surround sound, since I had previously owned a Samsung system and was satisfied with it.

The Samsung system is an amazement to listen too. Our music channels sound wonderful, the action movies are amazing, and the system interfaces well with my Samsung 3D Smart TV.

The system has many great add-ons such as built in wi-fi, games, apps, and a 3D Blu-Ray player. This was an added bonus for the entire system, not to mention it was $100 cheaper than the Bose.

The worst part about this system is the wireless rear speakers are not truly wireless. They require attachment to a modem style device, but not to the Blu-Ray player, such as the other speakers. The rear speaker wire was to short, so I found myself splicing the front speaker wire to borrow unneeded wire. Besides this one small headache, the rest of the setup was a breeze and well worth the end result.

Overall, I'd buy this system again any day over the more expensive and less equipped Bose system I had previously purchased.
