Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The Samsung HT-Q70 home-theater system delivers 1000 watts (200 more watts than the HT-Q45) of big audio power through 5.1 channels, enhanced by Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic, and DTS decoders. This full-featured unit offers the convenience of a five-disc changer, as well as improved USB host play, which enables you to plug and play your favorite portable digital devices without the nuisance of loading software.

Of course, this convenience is all accented by the DVD player's impressive progressive scan technology. The player supports loads of audio and video formats, such as MP3, WMA, MPEG (video), DivX, JPEG (photo files), and general audio support. Forget about the need to burn CDs or DVDs to enjoy music and video clips. The HT-Q70 gives you all the playback options you need so you can sit back and enjoy all your favorite media files, no matter what the format.

To top it all off, the HT-Q70 is XM Radio ready. With the HT-Q70 and your subscription to XM radio, you will be able to enjoy satellite radio service in CD quality sound. With the superior audio of Samsung and the static-free reception of satellite broadcasts, radio takes on a whole new dimension. This is the ultimate in complete home theater experience.

The DVD player's smooth progressive scan eliminates even the slightest hint of blur or distortion, and brings new realism to DVD movies and DVD video selections. Combine this with HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) connectivity and you'll be impressed with this system's ability to transmit DVD video and audio signals simultaneously for an even clearer picture.

Samsung doesn't scrimp on audio quality either. The HT-Q70 features a wide center channel for improved dialogue performance, four satellite speakers, a subwoofer, and universal speaker connectors for a simple set up. And if you already have wireless speakers at home, this system comes equipped with a rear channel that is wireless ready for a quick integration into your cord-free entertainment system. Connectivity is robust, too. Terminals include a component video out, composite video out, optical digital input, headphone jack, mic jack, and two audio inputs (auxiliary 1 and 2). Plus, you can control it all from the comfort of your couch with the included remote control. Watch your fill of movies and videos without having to change discs. The only reason you'll want to get up is to grab another bowl of popcorn. Samsung's is ready to indulge your movie nights with this outstanding five-disc DVD changer home-theater system.

Note: This system does not include the Connect-N-Play antenna to receive XM programming.

4.0 out of 5 stars Big Bang for The Buck!!, August 7, 2006

This review is from: Samsung HT-Q70 XM Ready Five-Disc DVD Changer Home Theater System (5.1 Channel) (Electronics)
After months of searching and researching I decided on this system. Looked at the Panasonic's, Kenwoods, Onkio etc and had my mind set on Kenwood or Panasonic till I went to a store that had a good display of various systems. I had a budget of $500 and looked hard at the Panasonic HT 940 system but after two hours of taking the same music cd's and movie dvd back and forth to the displays, I choose the Samsung because of the crisp highs and deep bass, smaller speakers, sleek look, rear wireless ready and the ability to play any format out there. Once home the ability to fine tune each cross-over to get the sound right in my house was awsome and easy to setup. The speakers are small but beat some of my 100 watt JVC audio speakers in the house. My wife was very impress from the sound from the small speakers. I highly suggest Monster Cable for any system you buy. I walked out of the store under $500. The system was $319, the Monster cable $44 and three year total replacement policy was $56. Would highly recommend this system to anyone who doesn't have a fortune to spend on a home theater system.

This system does everything you would expect from a home theater system, and looks nice to boot. And to correct the poster below, it does play burned dvds. The only problem is it does not include audio connectors to hook up the T.V.'s sound to the receiver, but they can be bought very cheaply.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great device, but too big., November 28, 2006

I actually bought this for $329 from CompUSA (it was $379 on Amazon at the time), and it's a great unit but it's just too big. It's far longer than a typical VCR or DVD player, meaning it sticks out a few inches from me TV stand. I was going to buy a new TV stand but the three models I liked were also too short for this gadget. It's just a much larger DVD unit than most typical devices, it seems. Performance-wise, it's great. There was not enough speaker cable to run the read speakers around the edge of my small apartment bedroom, but other than that it's been nice the past week I've had it.

I have put some video and pictures on a USB device and tried to play them. I found a few video formats that worked, and browsing the photos was alot slower than what you might be used to (with a computer or digital camera or whatever) but this is just an extra perk for a 5.1 surround sound DVD player.
