5.0 out of 5 stars Great phone if you understand this is not a smart phone
The phone does everything I want it to plus a lot more. No, this is not a smart phone as one review tried to imply. It has great graphics is very easy to learn how to use. Great battery life compared to previous phones I have had. It has great voice recognition that learns on its own. Overall, I am very happy with this item.

2.0 out of 5 stars It's Just Gotten Worse Over Time
I've had this phone for about a year now, and although it does have its good points, the cons outweigh the pros on this one.

PROS
Battery Life: To give an example, my phone has 3 out of 5 battery bars, and I haven't charged it in 4 days. Once the battery loses its first bar, the rest follow quickly, but it has a great battery life.
Touch Screen:...

really do like this cell phone,
i just purchased it with an upgrade i had avaible to me.
& it's everything i hoped for, the touchscreeen is good,
texting is easy enough, the whole cell phone in general is easy to use too.

if you have expectations of getting a high tech touchscreen phone,
then don't get this, but if you're looking for a cute modern phone,
with good qualty and capability, like i was, then i would recommend this to you(:

I've had my phone for 6 months. Love it. Does what a phone should do. Holds a charge, which was a problem with past phones. Fun, easy to use, nice design. Camera takes crystal clear digital shots and video. So what if the songs play in alphebetical order. And for the fella who didn't understand that there is no free internet service plan offered with any phone out there - it's a decent phone, regardless. I'm getting my daughter one for Christmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I wanted, December 10, 2009

This phone does everything I was hoping for and more. The internet service speed is faster than my husband's new Blackberry and it's easier to navigate.

My only (very tiny) complaint is that when the alarm goes off, it's very easy to push any button (on the side of the phone) accidentally while picking it up. Apparently, that negates any snooze function and means you either have to reset the alarm or get up at that moment, lol. Like I said, it's a tiny complaint. It's not even important enough to warrant a reduced star rating.

I recommend this phone to everyone and am still giddy over having it, even after 5 months. Best purchase I've made in the last year (or 5).

If you understand that this is not an iphone or blackberry, then it's a great phone. Camera is surprisingly good and buy a cheap mini SD card for $10 and you have pretty much unlimited 3,0 megapix photos. Great for snapping random pictures.

Keyboard rotates with your phone as you type and touchscreen is really good (I own a ipod touch). Calendar is kinda lacking but overall a good (cheap) simple phone for calling, texting, taking quick pictures and watching short movie clips.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice phone, but..., May 13, 2010

I got this phone to replace an LG flip phone. I made sure to read all reviews and decided to go with this. I'm very happy with all the features, I basically got the best phone around without having to pay anything for it, or sign a data plan.

But there are 2 minor problems I have with it; the Touch Screen mode turns off after 30 seconds - which is normal, and can be adjusted - but to turn it back on, you have to press the button on the right side on top and for some reason it doesn't go easy, especially if you keep it in a rubber case like I do.

The other issue I have is that you can't search your contacts by the last name, only with the first, so if you know 10 people named Joe but only 1 named Joe Namath, you would want to search by the last name.

Overall I'm very happy with it and would still recommend it to anyone who is not looking to spend for a phone like me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great phone!, January 31, 2010
This review is from: Samsung Highlight t749 Phone, Ice Blue (T-Mobile) (Wireless Phone)
I absolutely love my phone and have had no problems with it so far. I keep a full battery charge all day long and have never had any dropped calls! I used to have the Samsung Behold before a terrible car accident, and I replaced it awhile later with this one. I like it even better than the first generation Behold. Only think I do not like on this phone is that there seems to not be a flash on its camera. Maybe I need to play around with it more, but so far, I don't have a flash on this camera which may make some pictures come out very dark if you are not in adequate light. Overall, great phone!

2.0 out of 5 stars It's Just Gotten Worse Over Time, March 17, 2011

I've had this phone for about a year now, and although it does have its good points, the cons outweigh the pros on this one.

PROS
Battery Life: To give an example, my phone has 3 out of 5 battery bars, and I haven't charged it in 4 days. Once the battery loses its first bar, the rest follow quickly, but it has a great battery life.
Touch Screen: The touch screen is sensitive to touch, not heat, which is a pro in my mind, because I can use it with gloves on in winter.

CONS
Random Resetting: My phone will randomly restart pretty frequently. I'll be in the middle of a phone call and the phone will just shut off and start up again. It gets really frustrating, because it happens very randomly.
Photo Editing: This kind of falls into the random resetting category as well; When I edit a photo, right after I save it the phone will reset itself.
Keypad Doesn't Work: Sometimes the keypad won't work. For example, it will stay locked when I press the unlock key, and sometimes it stays locked when I need to answer a call, so I'm left to let the call through to voicemail.

These are the problems I can think of off the top of my head. If you can avoid buying this phone, I would. I'm waiting for my contract to run out so I can replace this phone without shelling out as much money. Until then, I can live with it, but if you have another option, go with that one, because this phone is tolerable, but barely so.

4.0 out of 5 stars Testy for texters, but great otherwise, January 12, 2011
This review is from: Samsung Highlight t749 Phone, Ice Blue (T-Mobile) (Wireless Phone)
I bought the Samsung Highlight about a year ago. At first I was in love with it, it is easy to figure out, has some very nice features (you can change the menu fonts, it has a handwriting-to-text option, photo options, adjustable screen size for texting and web browsing, easy to navigate widget bar, etc.), not mention it's a nice compact size.

Now for the bad news. I am an avid texter, and this phone can be annoying at times in this area. The touch-screen receptors are OK, but I had to buy a mini stylus to improve the accuracy. The handwriting option is pretty much there for novelty, and for some letters you need to write them perfectly or it won't recognize them. The sideways QWERTY keyboard buttons are very small, even for my tiny fingers. But the most frustrating thing is the t9. It is pretty intuitive, however it tends to make up words (or grab words that you've misspelled) and save them to its dictionary...and there is no way to delete them. This is usually the case with key combinations that form multiple words (like home, good, gone, hoof, etc). It also adds an apostrophe to almost any word that ends in 'S', or randomly capitalize the first letter of certain words. The only way to fix it is to add the word back into its dictionary, which moves it to the top of the list. Only problem with that is, when you add a word it automatically capitalizes the first letter (and saves it that way) unless you manually change it.

So for texting I would rate this phone a 3/5, but I'd give everything else a 4/5. If you don't text that much, this may be the phone for you.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible phone, December 27, 2010
This review is from: Samsung Highlight t749 Phone, Ice Blue (T-Mobile) (Wireless Phone)
This is the most annoying phone I have ever had. The alarms have to be reset everyday or week. It has the dumbest background pictures, it has a pink music player. The phone won't let you use your mini SD card to store anything except stuff already on it, and the touch screen is very unresponsive. The lock button doesn't work for crap in my pocket. Doesn't break easily. . .I've tried.
