Part digital camcorder and digital still camera, part portable video player, part MP3 player, and part portable hard drive, Samsung's Itcam-7 Gadget Cam camcorder is the world's first hard disk drive (HDD) digital camcorder. Rather than tape, Samsung's Itcam-7 uses a 1.5 GB HDD to store still and motion pictures, as well as music, audio, and data files--enabling it to hold more than 1 hour of high-quality footage. And with its built-in USB 2.0 port, transferring an hour of footage to your computer takes only 5 minutes. Maximum fps: 30.

The Itcam-7 saves each new shot as a separate media file, making it possible to locate a specific clip instantly and simple to organize media clips for editing. Editing software is bundled with each Itcam-7 for consumer convenience.

The Itcam-7 also works as a portable movie player. An MPEG-4 media file can be played back--30 frames per second--at a 640 x 480 screen resolution on its 2-inch transreflective screen, or a TV screen. Through its embedded RCA port, the Itcam-7 can connect to a television or VCR to display or record audio-visual content. You can even connect the Itcam-7 to your PC via the USB cable to stream QQVGA video at a full 30 frames per second. Media formats such as MP3s are also supported for playback.

It was preorder on Jan 2004. But soon it just disappears in the market without a trace. I was hoping to get 1, but nowhere could be found. Anybody know why Samsung abandon this cool garget?

I really wondered about this. Samsung itcam-7 and panasonic sv-av100 which codec these camcorders use? so many codecs are realised day by day. Xvid,divx,mpeg2... so many. Can ý upgrade firmware of these machines?
