![]() | 15,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio will give you an improved picture with whiter whites, blacker blacks and a nearly infinite subtlety of gradations in between. As two of the most important determining factors in overall picture quality, contrast and brightness levels achieve new heights in this latest generation LCD panel. Samsung's new LCD TV's give the most stunning realistic picture quality ever. |
![]() | The NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) has established the color standards all TVs in America try to meet. And typical LCD TVs only meet about 72 percent of this standard. Samsung LCD HDTVs use Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp backlights to give you 92 percent coverage of the NTSC standard, ensuring truer, more breathlessly vivid colors. Samsung's Wide Color Enhancer 2 technology delivers more brilliant colors by expanding the gamut of color expression into a third axis, creating a 3D diagram of luminance. This creates a dynamic display of on-screen color and allows traditionally weak colors, such as green and blue, to look vivid and deep. In addition, red colors are enhanced to provide strong colors across the spectrum and the perfect balance of RGB. |
![]() | With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.

absolutely awesome tv.everything but sound is perfect. its maximun level of volume is not as high as it should be. that make it a tv for a small room. some movies are recorded with low volume. to hear them you need a very quiet environment when you are watching this.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Samsung LN22B650 22-Inch 720p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
I decided to replace a 5-year old 15" analog LCD TV in my computer hutch - the digital reception with a converter was not bad, but I decided to go with a slightly larger HDTV in hopes of receiving an even better picture. I researched 19" and 22" TVs extensively for several months before ultimately deciding on the Samsung LN22B650 (despite the lack of reviews at this time.) I do not have cable and am only using an old antenna that I mounted in the attic 28 years ago.I've had this TV for a little over a week now and although I can usually find fault with anything, I cannot find a single thing about this unit that I don't like! With the Super-Saver shipping from Amazon, it was on my doorstep 5 days after I placed the order. Minimal assembly and setup was easy and within minutes I had over 30 channels, many of which the digital converter had not located. The picture is absolutely stunning - the HDTV broadcasts are like nothing I've ever seen before on a home television set, to the point of being almost three-dimensional. I haven't owned a plasma or HDTV before, so for those of you that are already used to this type of great picture, please bear with me. The factory defaults for color, brightness, etc. deliver a very life-like and pleasing picture (actually, it can be too life-like - every wrinkle, hair out of place, and even the makeup on newscasters is far more obvious.) There are many user-changeable options if something doesn't quite suit you. The picture size can be changed from 16:9 to 4:3 for older shows, and the unit will "remember" this for that particular channel until you change it. The sound can be changed to one's liking with the built-in equalizer and is of good quality for a TV of this size. I didn't expect, nor do I need a sound system on a small TV that will rattle the windows - the sound from this unit's two speakers is perfectly adequate for my needs. Bear in mind that I'm sitting about 4 feet away; across a large room, the sound may be a little weak. As with any LCD TV, it needs to be sitting about eye level for optimal viewing, and the screen tilts as needed (oddly enough though, the tilt mechanism is actually in the body of the set rather than on the stalk or the base as is typical, but once you figure that out, it works just fine.) At the risk of sounding like an ad for Samsung, I cannot say enough good things about this unit. The picture quality is truly amazing - you must see it to believe it. I hate to say it, but even the commercials look really good. By the way, the Amazon listing (and many other sellers as well) is erroneous on the "red touch of color" - it's charcoal, not red. From what I understand the "A" series units from 2008 were red and the "B" 2009 units are charcoal. Not a big deal for me personally though - it looks quite good. Also the depth measurement is shown as 15.9", but it's actually slightly less than 8". If a 22" HDTV is what you're looking for, I don't see how you can do any better than this. The Amazon price was low as well (although they came out with a $50 off coupon a week after I bought this, which currently makes it the lowest price anywhere!)

Don't look at it at an angle!,
This review is from: Samsung LN22B650 22-Inch 720p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
I bought this TV for the kitchen and set it up on top of the cabinets. From a distance, the picture looks great. Get a little closer while looking up at it and it looks terrible. I have the same series TV (46 inch)in the family room and you can view it from any angle without loosing picture quality. I spoke with a level 2 technician at Samsung about this issue and was basically told, "yea, thats just how it is." Not cool!
