2.0 out of 5 stars Good Price - Terrible For Gaming
***Note: This tv is being returned back to amazon - seems like its a defective model***

FYI this TV is 1080p, not 720p as advertised. The PS3/X360 are able to output a 1080p signal on this tv.

But this tv is pretty terrible for viewing fast motion content, especially games. When any dark areas or fast motion is displayed the screen...

I received two of these within three days. The first one was damaged in shipping and Amazon sent a replacement out with free one-day shipping. Way to go Amazon!
OK, onto the review.

The hardest part with the setup is attaching the stand and inserting the batteries in the remote. The first time you turn it on it goes into setup mode. Answer a few questions and it starts to scan for channels.

The menus are easy to use. Well organized and displayed. You may need to keep the manual handy for descriptions of some of the options but experimenting is fun.

Audio- this is a TV, TV's aren't known for their great speakers. At first the audio was very low. After playing with the audio setup a bit I was able to set the options to my liking. You can even set the sound mode with one button on the remote while you're watching something and avoid going into the detailed menus. The "Clear Voice" mode is a godsend for me (I'm 61 and my hearing isn't what it used to be). I could immediately tell the difference when I selected that mode.

Picture- Very good for a set this size and price. I have two other HD televisions (a 52" Sharp 1080p LCD and a 42" Panasonic 720p Plasma) and this TV is as good. I've watched some basketball games and haven't noticed any screen-door effect with fast motion. SD and HD channels come in clear (I have Cox Cable and I'm not using a HDTV box). The 'Screen Fit' option only works if you have a source connected via HDMI (and maybe component-I'm not sure). That option will adjust a SD show to fit the screen without stretching it. If you aren't using, for example, a cable box you'll either have to set the TV to 4:3 or suffer with odd looking stretched SD content. If you pick up HD channels without a cablebox (I get the local channels that way) the picture automatically adjusts to 16:9.

Remote- The remote is quite large (roughly 9-1/2 long x 2-1/2 wide)and isn't illuminated. It has big keys, fits your hand nicely and is easy to use.

Overall- Very happy with this TV. I bought it on Amazon for $399 which is a great deal (the lesser featured LN26C350 was only $20 less).

4.0 out of 5 stars Samsung 26" LN26C450 720p HDTV GREAT TV, March 17, 2010
By
This review is from: Samsung LN26C450 26-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black) (Electronics)
We bought this TV for our bedroom.
This is a great looking TV and the reddish horizontal line at the bottom is subtle. It is sleek and the controls are almost invisible when you are looking at the TV from a front point of view. In fact the power button is discreet to a fault as we turn the power on via the power button on the TV - not the remote - it's on the side and you can't see it so you have to "feel" for the power button. Now maybe in a brighter room this wouldn't be a problem but our TV sits inside of an amoire. The picture is beautiful and clear and of course especially on the HDTV channels. The sound is excellent (I think earlier versions of this TV had sound quality complaints). The setup process was not as easy as expected as we had to spend some time on the phone with Comcast to get things correctly set up and subsequently had to get a new box for all the HDTV channels.
Would definetly recommend this Samsung HDTV.

This review is from: Samsung LN26C450 26-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black) (Electronics)
Pros:
-Deepest black levels I've seen on a 26" or 32" LCD TV.
-Perfect backlight uniformity on mine; no flashlighting or backlight bleed.
-Good color accuracy on the warm1 setting.
-Very lightweight
-Plays xvid encoded avi files off of usb flash drives.

Cons:
-Noticeable ghosting during motion.
-Game mode is grayed out when connected to my computer through HDMI.

This 26 inch tv is outstanding. It mirrors the qualities of my 55 inch Samsung Plasma. It is easy to assemble and the picture is just plain gorgeous. You will not go wrong with this tv!

This Samsung provides an excellent clear, sharp picture with fine color values. The sound is good, and setup was quick and easy. It works perfectly with our older VHS/DVD combo. Delivery from Amazon was very fast. We are quite pleased with this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars budget small lcd tv, April 20, 2010
This review is from: Samsung LN26C450 26-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black) (Electronics)
I bought this tv 1 months ago.it's good for that price. actually before this tv. i bought panasonic 26 lcd tv.it was good for $300.but,i needed more quality.i returned the panasonic.this lcd tv has a good blacklevel of color.angleview is nice.but in fast action it's getting a bit cloudly.but that's fine for who watch tv all the time.in my opinion it's not good for game.it's more usuful for tv.the very important technology for me is usb video player.it's good for future.you can copy your film selection to the external hard drive.than connect the tv. watch it.play the mp3 sound.

This was a great addition to the bedroom. Easy to mount to a peerless mount and easy to work controls. There are not many makers of a 26" but this was a great addtion to our home.

This review is from: Samsung LN26C450 26-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black) (Electronics)
This is a good TV. The picture is clear and the set up was easy. The only thing I would criticize is the sound volume. It seems a bit weak.

This review is from: Samsung LN26C450 26-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black) (Electronics)
I am an accountant by training, education, and disposition. I do not part with my hard-earned money without shedding tears. But last month I finally relented and purchased by first LCD HDTV.

I researched this purchase for months, plowing through Consumer Reports, PC World, and various online forums. I was a bit concerned about the 720p resolution as opposed to the 1080i gold standard. However, the consensus of opinion was that for LCDs smaller than 32" there is virtually no discernible difference in clarity. My experience seems to bear this out: I see no difference in sharpness of image between my 720p 26" and my Dad's 1080i 36".

In addition, the audio quality/strength is superb. A major caveat for the "smaller" sets was the weak audio output, in some cases requiring external speakers. This is absolutely not the case with this unit. With the cable STB volume set to 25 of 31, I never have the TV volume above 50 of 100.

So far I've hooked up a cable STB (via HDMI), a DVD player (component video/audio), a VCR (yes, that's a VCR; composite video/audio), a USB thumb drive, and an external Seagate hard drive to the TV and all these devices play seamlessly. I'm not crazy about the snake's pit of cables behind the unit, but until some gearhead invents wireless devices, that appears to be the price one must pay for connecting all these devices to a single output unit.

And then there's Amazon - in more than 10 years of activity, I have never had any issues with their services. Bravo, Amazon.

The bottom line is that I am one extremely happy penny-pincher and will probably relent and purchase a second unit for the living room. Hmmmm....should I spring for a larger unit....?

Our home televisions have always been Sony since the Trinitron days and we never had a reason to try another brand until the need for a 26" flat screen came along. Sony no longer offers one and Samsung fit the bill. Amazon had them in stock, priced right with free shipping and no state sales tax. It worked great out of the box and we are happy with the product. It is hooked up with a Bose 3-2-1 system, so I really can't comment on Samsung's sound quality.
