This TV is amazing. Don't be scared that it is not LED, trust me this picture will rival anything out there. When watching sports its feels like your at the game. The image is so clean and uniform it's unbelievable.
I use this TV for my Xbox 360, Blu-Ray, Direct TV. There have been zero issues and everything works great. This TV doesn't have any of the problems that LEDs have such as uniformity issues or uneven backlight. For the price this can't be beat. Everyone that comes over to watch TV is simply amazed at the picture quality. The TV not only has a great picture, but looks good too. The remote has been improved from previous models that had the scroll wheel (like an ipod) which was difficult to use. This remote is simple to use which is nice. The TV also switches much faster between inputs. There is no lag when switching. There are no problems between audio and video being in sync, I do use a receiver for surround sound. The only thing to do when getting this TV is to turn down the auto-motion plus to clear from standard so the picture doesn't look jerky. This has to be done on all Samsung TV's ( I own two). This is not a problem as you can customize the auto-motion plus to your liking. This TV doesn't have apps, but to me that is no big deal, who wants to use facebook on their TV anyways? Overall this is an outstanding TV and after months of research I am extremely pleased with it. I would recommend this TV to anyone.

Im am one of the most pickiest people when it comes to buying a new TV...I have to analize everything. My previous TV was a Samsung lnt4665f LCD. So im looking for a bigger tv,in the 55-65" range. I was open to either LCD or LED..after all im looking for the best picture quality. I spent weeks looking online and in stores, read scores of reviews for all different makes and models and decided with this one...Why? The final day of looking im at Best Buy and im deciding on the UN55C7000 LED 3D, the UN55C6500 LED, and the UN55C6300 LED. The 7000 had an awesome deal with the 3D package for around $2300 but the picture quality was sub-par for a new LED. My 2007 lnt4665f has a better pic than this one..and thats after i asked them to put in a blu-ray disc for comparison. The 6800,6500 and the 6300 all had great picture. The 6800 even has the precision dimming thats suposed to give better control over picture quality but i couldnt see a noticable difference compared to the 65 or 6300. I liked the 6300 over the 6500 because of the bezel was nice glossy black over a matte wood grain finish of the 6500 and it was $100 cheaper. Then i saw 2 tv,s sitting next to each other..the LN60C630 and the UN60C630. One LCD and LED. I stood there staring at the too for about 20 minutes..and could not find any difference in picture quality..in fact I thought the LCD looked better than the LED model..and it was $700 cheaper. Done deal..except that the store was out of stock and no other Best Buy in the area had any either...bummer because it was on sale for only that weekend. No worries..Amazon had it for $1799 so i got it here. Now after recieving the tv and fine tuneing for picture quality the true test was Avatar in blu-ray on my Denon BTC2500 player...and...Holy S**t..i never thought it would be this awesome!! By far the best quality picture i have ever seen on any tv at any time..
I know every one has there own preference of settings..but here are mine. Mode: Dynamic Backlight: 15 Contrast: 100 Brightness: 50 Sharpness: 10 Color: 61 Tint: 50/50 Color Tone: cool Size: Screen Fit DNF: High MPEG NF: High HDMI Black Level: Low Film Mode: Auto 1 AMP: Custom Blur Reduction 10 Judder Reduction 10

I really am enjoying the ln60c630. I bought it here on amazon and it is awesome!
The only thing I would really complain about is the finish on the screen. Most LCDs have a matte/non-glossy screen. This tv is glossy. I have a really bright room and would have preferred not to have a screen that reflects, but when the tv is on you don't really notice the reflection.

Alright let's sum this all up nice and tidy. This set uses a Sharp FB01 panel.... no panel lottery with this set, it's the only size that uses this panel, and all sets have this panel that are 60 inch as of December 2010. Black levels are very good on this panel. No CCFL or edge lit set is going to have perfect blacks however compared to a plasma or full array local dimming set. It's just the nature of the technology. Much less in the way of flashlighting or bright blotchy spots then I had with my 2 year old 46 inch samsung that had an SQ01 panel. Plenty of settings to calibrate this set to get an excellent picture. Great black levels, white saturation, gamma, contrast, colors. Lots of settings to adjust the color temperature. I just eyeballed it. Pretty good out of the box on "PC" mode.. too bright on any other mode, will need to scale down that 'pop' that they like to show in the box stores, though if you like that pop you can certainly have it, plenty of settings to mess around with! Contrast ratio is very good, but again, a plasma will still do better. In the very darkest of scenes at night you'll still notice the difference. Or with a completely black screen, it becomes obvious.
Menu response time is much quicker in this set then with my previous samsung, must have a better processor as the laggy, slow menu of a couple years ago is nice and snappy now. The remote works fine. Not sure what that other review was going on with about the remote. Haven't tried to use other components with the remote because I don't do that, I use the remote that came with the item I bought or the cable box that was installed. Noticed some input lag if the set is not set to "PC" mode, but in PC mode there is virtually zero lag, though not absolutely zero. It's not something I'll ever notice it's so slight. There is also a setting for "game" mode which makes lag almost zero. CNBC HD ticker looked nice and smooth, no blur to the image, nice and crisp. This set does have a con. I knew about this con before buying and it doesn't affect me, though it is there. Off axis viewing is not the best with this sharp panel. Not the best set to be watching from a 45 degree angle off center... the image looks darker. All LCDs have this to a degree, but this one was worse then my couple year old 46 inch with the SQ01 panel. Something to keep in mind. Overall I would say superior head on viewing, with somewhat inferior off axis viewing. This set has a glossy panel, which is what I wanted. Keep that in mind. If you have a brighter room or light sources behind the set you may notice reflections which a matte screen will reduce, however matte screens will reduce some of the 'pop' and clarity in the picture.. it's a tradeoff. So there you have it.. I would perhaps choose something else (though you're going to play the panel lottery a lot these days with any model) that has better off axis viewing if you need that, or if you need jet black blacks, because no CCFL or edge lit LCD will have them jet black, but if you're viewing the set from head on, you're golden! This set has very good blacks with less clouding and flashlighting then the majority of LCD sets I've seen, plus no blooming that back lit fully array LED sets can have, and no light clouding on the edges that edge lit LED sets can have. This should keep me going until they get nano LED technology in the mainstream and eliminate the blooming thing on those full array sets, and the 3D thing comes down in price, if it survives.. it probably will. Overall score 4.5 stars.. kept the 5 rating, thought about lowering it to 4 for the issues mentioned but the pros outweigh the cons. Buying any HDTV these days will involve sacrificing something, there is no perfect set... in a couple years they'll be much closer, but not yet.

I'm so happy with my purchase. Researched LCDs for months before finally pulling the trigger and couldn't be happier. Sound is OK (which people have knocked in other reviews)- I'm no audiophile, but I don't notice it being a problem. Picture is wonderful. Very crisp- love the automotion, but it does take a day or two to totally get used to. I would recommend this to anyone.

This tv combined with our DirecTV is so sharp and bright you get unbelievable detail. The picture is so sharp you can see every line and dot on every actor's face (not always a good thing). We have it hooked up to our home theater system, so sound comes out of the speakers...I don't know what the TV's sound is, but it was super easy to hook up with HDMI cables and a digital cable for the sound. Really outstanding picture. Great value.

I have never seen a TV with this kind if detail and such a crisp, clear picture with bright colors. You see every pore in a person's face and each blade of grass in a way I have never experienced with any television set in my life. I recommend
this TV to anyone considering buying a new TV. It is worth the extra money for the size, even if your room is not that big.

WOW. All I can say is WOW. This is a phenomenal set. Upgraded from a 46" to this and what a difference. Amazing screen quality on blu-rays and hi-def satellite.
As others have said, my only gripe is a setting that actively tries to smooth out the video which had to be shut off because it made the tv animations seem rather unnatural. People seemed to move in odd manners but once I switched the setting off it was amazing. HiDef football and basketball? Say hello to the grass and hardwood flooring lines that you see for me. Also- there is an energy saving feature on by default that has a light sensor which attempts to adjust to save power depending on the amount of light it senses. More light= a brighter screen and less= a darker one. If you are watching this at night with a light behind you and you move around, it tends to like to change brightness on and off, enough that you may want to disable the setting as I did. The only other thing of note is that it IS a glossy screen which means lights in the background when on, at least at night, are VERY visible on screen. Great screen, great buy. Thank you Amazon. |
